I know we'll all have different ideas of what is too much but this just seems off to me.

I am getting married in February. (Way off-season)
I am having a small wedding of 100 people and the room in which we'll be is small as well.

The prices for the pacgages I was quoted were $1350 plus tax for the basic DJ no lighting at all. (other than the overhead hall lights)
$2500 plus tax for DJ and an MC and lighting(intelligent lighting for dancing and up lighting for atmosphere)....it got way higher from there.

I talked to them about my expectations and where I would like the cost to be. The lowest they would go is $1650 incl tax. One DJ, Intelligent lighting-which is for dancing. (no up-lighting).

Does this sound reasonable? Is this a 'normal' price for the GTA. (hall is in Woodbridge)

If we don't use them the cost is over $500 more. When I was researching the hall I was misinformed as to how much they charged but it's too late now. (Plus I love the hall!)

Hi Ladies!
I wanted to share some potentially exciting news - I think we may have found our perfect venue!!! I was convincing myself that I didn't want to get married in a Banquet Hall and then my parents (who live out of town) suggested to look at a venue that is near a hotel. We came across Toscana which is affiliated with the Hilton Hotel in Vaughan (hwy 400 & hwy 7). After seeing other venues, this just seemed like a perfect fit. And I couldn't believe it! Ever since becoming engaged I have been telling people that I didn't want that "typical" venue....but it is not only convenient for both of our families (who many will be coming from out of town) but it is beautiful...
My parents are coming to look at it this week and as long as everything goes according to plan, we will be booking!!!!
*** If any of you have reviews on the facility, please let me know! ***

Apologies for yet another 'have you heard of....' but I have narrowed down my videographer choices down to two and would like to know if anyone has had any experience working with them:

With Love Wedding Photography and Videography or Treasured Moments Production. Both offer video within our budget and offer same day edits. With Love also has photography services which I like becuase it means they are familiar with working with each other and I won't have to search for photographers. So any reviews?

I would LOVE to rent a 1969 Camaro for my husband-to-be to drive from the ceremony to the reception.
All I can find for rentals are new Camaros (which are really nice, but not the classic car that has his heart).
Also, I am aware of the fact that these cars are typically owned by collectors and they are not always willing to rent them out.
Any advice would be great. Thanks!!!
Toronto, ON. Canada

I am planning to have a sweet table at my wedding reception - the cakes wil be done by the catering company but then at the same time I want to put different types of candies and chocolates on the table as well .
Since my theme colour is turquoise and brown, I want to find candies that match those colors.
What's the best place to shop for bulk purchase of candies in Toronto other than Bulk Barn? I found the Candy Warehouse (www.candywarehouse.com)but then they require big bulk purchase (like 10 pounds of candies for each type) and will need at least $45 of shipping cost.
Any recommendation?

Because of my severe allergies (the main reason we are getting married in winter!), I am interested in having a bouquet made from silk or fake flowers. I saw some really nice ones at the Toronto bridal show, but they were props for other vendors.

Does anyone know a good GTA area vendor for silk flower arrangements? I realise I can buy online, but I'd rather deal with someone local so I can see their work in person.

I wanted to share a bad experience my mother had with Vogue on the Danforth. I haven't seen her this upset in a long time.

Reported by my mother:

I am very disappointed with this establishment. In the initial stages of planning a wedding. I went to their store mid-week when they were not busy for about ten minutes to view their selection of bridesmaid dresses for my daughter's wedding. I impressed with what I saw. The store was clean and well lit. I informed the saleswoman that my daughter, the bride, would be coming from three hours away by train on Saturday and would like to view the dresses (not try them on). I offered to make a short appointment as there would be no trying on at this point. I was told it was not necessary to book and to call closer to the day. I just did. To my surprise I was told they were fully booked with brides and could not "fit us in". They have just lost the sale of four bridesmaid dresses from this upset potential customer. I feel as if I had been stood up for not purchasing the more expensive bride’s dress there. Go there if you want to feel like a second class customer.

Added by me:

I booked a non-refundable train ticket specifically to come make a decision on a dress in a certain colour that is not available at any other store in the city (we tried). Now I'm out $80.
