Hey Ladies,

Okay so I made the avocado daquiri. Let's just say it's pretty good but way too much alcohol for me..lol. I can smell the rum as soon as I opened my blender. I wonder if its the rum that I used (Bacardi). I actually doubled the ingredients. I ended up using 1/2 avocado, 4 oz of simple syrup and 1oz half and half and left the lemon and lime the same. You can taste the citrus flavour defintely. I think I will try the recipe again but cut back in half of the light and gold rum. I think I got a buzz when I tried it but I think that's my personal preference. I'm not sure if people would want it stronger though.

Jager fizz was good. I think i probably would have added more Jager in it but the recipe taste fine the way it is not strong at all. I think if I left the rum in the daquiri, I would be more drunk drinking that lol...

Hi ladies,
I posted this on the reception board, I thought to post it here and see what my fellow canadian ladies think.
So I'm not sure if you remember that a while back I said I wanted to incorporate both my FI anf I's culture into the wedding. So we are trying to create a "signature" drink. I found these two recipes Jager fizz4cl jagermeister, 3cl lemon juice, 2cl sugar syrup, 2cl soda waterApart from the soda water vigorously shake the ingredients in a shaker and pour into a glass. Top off with soda water
Okay so I know the Jager might defintely get people drunk but I figure there are awlays people who drink a lot regardless of whatever kind of alcohol you serve.
I was thinking the other drink would be an avocado daquiri,. Would you drink this if you were a guest at a wedding?I haven't tried this drink yet but I can ask the hall to make it and taste it.Or I can even try it at home and see how it taste.here's the recipe
Avocado DaiquiriIngredients:· 2 Ounces Sliver Rum· 2 Ounces Gold Rum· 1/4 Medium-Ripe Avocado Peeled and Pitted· 1/2 Ounce Half and Half· 1/4 Ounce Fresh Lemon Lime Juice· 2 Ounces Simple Syrup· 1 1/2 Cups Cocktail Ice CubesCombine ingredients in blender and blend on high until just smooth, about 20 seconds. The return date is June 20th but most people we are inviting know about it already -thank goodness!

So by tomorrow afternoon Canada Post will (more likely than not) be on strike. This could last for 2 weeks. So... how the heck do I get my invites out?? I was thinking of having my FI rush around tomorrow and get them all out in the AM, but then how are people supposed to respond if they do get them? Argh... For what I spent on invites, I would really hate for them to arrive super late. Any ideas?

Instead I thought I would ask the hall to make a cocktail drink that has a tropical taste to it and a mixed drink that has jagemeister or other german liquor in it. Then I was going to order these stir sticks that has a tag that says welcome in each of our language.

I alreay both a white plate for my wedding favours. I'm going to put in a bag then inside would have a dessert (nothing that will go bad) wrapped in a tissue with my favourite dessert from my culture and it would be sealed with a label that say's 'Brides favourite flipino dessert" and then for my husband to be it would be the same thing except we miight get this german chocolate he loves that his mom buys all the time or german coffee.

On the outisde tag it would say thank you in english and then both our languages.

So what do you think? I'm just tired searching for a dance group and might as well put the money towards this idea have. I don't know how else we can really incorporate our culture without costing too much.

i was shopping on queen west yesterday looking for bridal accessories and came across the store cabaret. i already have my dress that i got at jealous bridesmaids and i thought i went to most of bridal stores in toronto. they have gorgeous dresses there that are really inexpensive. seemed like the average price was around $500. if you're looking for a simple vintage inspired dress i would definitely check them out. i don't think they do alterations though. they had one gorgeous dress there that i was tempted to try on but when i came back home i just looked at pics of my own dress that i love so i don't become a 2 dress bride : )

Is $88/person after tax and gratuity a good price for the following.....I am editing this to add it's a February wedding which means it's about $30 less than it would be any other time. (It will come to around $100 per person after decor/chair covers etc)

For the ceremony set up and change over. (ceremony and reception in the same place)

full open premium open bar for 7-8 hours

5 types passed hors d'ouevres (hot and/or cold our choice)

soup (choice)
pasta (stuffed pasta our choice)
Veggies and stuffed chicken (asiago and spinach stuffed)
creme brulee

late night fruit station, cake cutting, fresh mini waffles and ice cream with berry or chocolate sauce and pizza

I think it's a good price but FI thinks it's too high. The place isn't the most fancy but I like it. It doesn't include chair covers or decor. It would total about $100 per person with chair covers and decor.
