I'm spending $4,600 for photography and videography. My friend (not from GTA) thinks that is completely crazy, but in my research that's pretty reasonable. A cousin of mine spent $14,000!!!

but guess what, they are not invited and there is no room to invite them, and even if there was, they would not be invited anyway.

Friends have told me the best way is to choose a venue first and let everything else be decided around the space. We are looking for something small (40-50) in Toronto in a historic space or restaurant. Ideally, we would like to have the ceremony and reception at the same place. Has anyone been able to feed and provide open bar to 125 (give or take) guests at less than a hundred per head? I'm finding it crazy difficult to do this in Toronto. Venue and Caterer suggestions with prices please!

Even at a place where you can BYOB - you often have to bring your own everything else, like tables etc...

My fiancee and I are getting married on our 5 year engagement anniversary LOL We have been saving for 3.5 years and still can't afford a nice wedding in Toronto!

Hi ladies

So I fell in love with a picture a while back and knew I wanted it to be the main decorating idea for our wedding

I plan to remove the coffee cups + saucers as well as the place cards.

My problem is that earlier this year, my mother bought 17 boxes of these hand painted tea light candles (in two shades of pink, clear, white). I love them as well, but I'm worried about them being too much with the table cloth.

Anyways I finally visited my parents and bought a set home with me (two broke in my luggage, but oh well) and then put them against the Table Cloth

I feel like maybe they do clash? or maybe i need to put something under them. of course they'd be all around the centerpiece so that would be hard to do.

Thoughts?

I am trying to decide between two different videographers and am stuck and need some help. For the prices I have them both quoted at, it includes the ceremony, photography session and reception but I might remove the photography session coverage (any opinions on that too?). So here they are:

Balance Productions: http://www.balanceproductions.ca
$1200 for two videographers. I liked the finished product better....but just a little bit better. I felt like they were pushing me towards their normal beginner package that included the bride prep package and can be seen at the website.

Director's Cut: http://www.directorscut.ca
$900 for 1 videographer or $1100 for two. Video was still really good, just not quite at the level of Balance. It's still a very professional recording of your day. The guy was nicer too.

So have you dealt with either one before? What did you think? Should I do one videographer or two? I can't make up my mind!

Photographer was hard to choose. So many to pick from and looking at pictures made my head spin. Happy with my choice and they were really flexible with pricing and making a custom package to suit my budget.

Live Band: Two people I know got other friends together to make a group to play at my wedding. They played for a house party to show us what they can do.

- Cake: So expensive if you want something from a magazine like quality. Still hunting!

- Video? Not sure if we are going to get it. I want it but FH does not want it.

- Hair: Thinking of using a local Salon downtown. Have not picked one. Might go with the mobile hair vendor if we do a hotel downtown.

I'm not Canadian, but I have a Canada-related question.

Question: Are Canadian resumes (for either employment or academic purposes) the same as American ones?

I'm asking for a French friend who is applying to study abroad. She has to submit a resume for each school she's applying to. Apparently some of them are Canadian schools, so she wonders if the format is the same? For the record, French resumes are quite different (include DOB, picture, order of information is different, etc.).

American academic resumes typically include education history, employment history, special skills, awards/honors received, in that order (more or less). Is it the same in Canada?
