Which city is the cheapest city to get the marriage license? What kind of questions do they ask you (I heard they ask your parents date of birth and your mom's maiden name - is that correct)

I bought my dress at a sample sale and need to find somewhere to get it taken in. Most of the places I've looked so far will not take dresses not bought in their store.

Does anyone know of a place in Toronto that will?

Also, recommendations on a fairly priced dry cleaner?

problems with getting married in another church

i'm having problems getting married in a different catholic church that is not my local one. we are from toronto and we want to get married in niagara on the lake. we talked to our local priest and he said that he wouldn't transfer us to a different church to get married unless it's a church our family goes to. our family is not from niagara on the lake. so we're rather stuck right now.

have other people had experience getting married in a different church?

Following up from my earlier post... I am DEFINITELY skipping town during the week of the summit. You may have seen in the news that U of T is closed during that week. (Officially, I think it's only closed for Thursday and Friday, but apparently it will be "open on a restricted basis" earlier in the week as well.) I *think* this means I can take the week off without using as many vacation days. Yay!!

I cannot express the relief I am feeling, we finally said yes to a venue! We ended up choosing Liuna Gardes, we are having our reception in the tent, and doing the ceremony on site. We loved how they understood our vision, and willing to work with us to make it happen. I am so glad that my weekends will no long include driving all over looking at menues and venues. I was afraid once we had committed I might feel some reservations, but I know we choose the right place.
To all of you who are looking it is worth the hunt, because when you find the right venue it will be worth it.

OK, I haven't actually gone out and started looking for my perfect wedding shoes yet BUT I have spent quite some time researching online and I have fallen in love with some of the Nina shoes. Their website allows you to design your own shoes...Heaven! But off course they don't ship to Canada :-(

Do any of you know which stores in the GTA carry Nina brand shoes? I think The Bay or Sears might. Would appreciate any help!

BTW - I realize Zappos Canada carries some Nina models but I really want to avoid buying online as I have been burned before. I really need to be able to try on the shoes in store!

This is most likely the dress I'm getting as my maid of honour dress (best friend is the one getting married, she picks the colour, we pick whatever style we want). The price quote was $279 at Bridal and Beyond.

I figured if anyone was going to know of another store or some magical land where this dress might be a little less expensive, it would be you lovely people. Any help would be extremely appreciated, please :)
