I saw your post in my earlier G20 thread. Are you getting married at St. Michael's Cathedral?

If so... if it makes you feel any better, I don't think St. Mike's will be quite as directly affected. But it may be a hassle for any guests driving in from the west so you may want to help them look up routes to circumvent the security zone. Hopefully you don't have any OOT guests in the G20 hotels, or if they have, hopefully they've been advised to book elsewhere...

I live and work downtown, and I know that a lot of businesses downtown are making preparations for special security procedures that week (not just in the immediate area, but in a pretty large area of downtown).

Maybe I should take a vacation. Anyone else thinking of skipping town that week?

Does anyone else feel really behind? I am starting to stress because it seems that for every check I get, 3 more appear in its place. I am actually starting to break out from all the stress. I want to delegate stuff to other people, but I don't know what I can even delegate because it seems that everything either needs my input, opinion, approval or something.

So, I was brainstorming about what wedding favours to give, and these are a fantastic idea for us! We are not having a wedding cake, so I thought giving each guest a mini wedding cake boxed as a favour would be a great idea. Does anyone know of someone who could do this for a reasonable price?

Hi there!

You ladies were so much help for finding plus-size bras, I'm having another go. Does anyone know of any clothing boutiques in Toronto that carry plus-size dresses? Besides AdditionElle and the chains - I mean independant boutiques, or stores that are off the beaten path a little.

I'd like to find a fun party dress for my RH, but most clothes stores in Toronto just don't seem to carry my size. It's at the point where I just feel like crying whenever I go shopping. I mean, I'm heavy, but it's not like I'm the size of an elephant :)

Any help would be appreciated!

Our wedding date is July 9th 2011, we live in Southern Alberta but will be getting married in South Western Ontario. Is it too soon to be checking things out and making decisions?

Broken Arm

Need some advice for a friend whose wedding is next weekend (May 29th)

Her FI broke his right arm and is in a cast with a sling - he has to wear this for the next 6-8 weeks. He can't wear his tux jacket properly or fit into the shirt that they already purchased.

Any ideas on a solution? Know where to get a custom made jacket or shirt in a jiffy?

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

My mom thinks this is nuts. She thinks I'm getting ripped off over the cost and his structure - namely the deposit requirement, and extras not included like cake cutting etc. I met with a videographer today and booked him, and he will cost $1400 for the following:- ceremony shot with 3 hi-def cameras, which include guests arriving, location details, ceremony and brides arrival
- processional and recessional
- moments following the ceremony - congratulations etc.
- reception - establishing shots, hall details guests arriving, candid shots, guests at tables, kissing games
- introduction of bride and groom, wedding party
- all speeches and toasts
- father daughter dance, first dance etc.

IF I want him to come to my house before hand, that's an extra $800.
IF I want him to video the cake cutting, that's $50.
IF I want him to video the bouqet toss / garter toss, that's an extra $50
IF I want him to videotape when the pictures are being done, it will cost $300, even though it's in the same location.IF I want shots of people dancing, it will cost $125 for 3 -4 back-to-back songs.
ALSO, 50% of the deposit is required upon signing, and he owns all of the rights to the video
He also said it could take anywhere from 3 weeks to 12 MONTHS to get the video, depending on how back logged he is.
Yikes - I'm starting to second guess myself. If you were me, would you exercise the cooling off period under the Consumer Protection Act and cancel?

so my engagment shoot is this coming Sunday and i have not decided on locations for the shoot yet. I want it to be an Urban style shoot but I want to keep it close to home. my FI doesn't want to go dowtown which doesn't bother me but I just don't know where in Scarborough is a good place to do them. plus ihave a red Mustang for the shoot so I need a really good back drop. Mother of the Bride Dress

Hi ladies,

I live east of Toronto and my mother is having the worst time finding a dress. She wants to stay under $300, and she is trying to find a store where she can go and put on the dress, buy it and leave with it.

I'm willing to make a day trip to Toronto, but I'd like to know if there are any stores like this that are worth checking out. My mom doesn't love the idea of ordering something she hasn't seen and tried on, and by the time she finds a dress she likes it will be too late to order it (the wedding is in 4 months).

Any suggestions?

I'm currently looking for a wedding DJ who plays top 40 + classic rock + indie rock. I considered doing the ipod thing but I'm starting to think it might cause too much stress worrying about who will watch over it. I've only found 2 dj's of any interest: hello!DJ and Third from the Sun, but they are both a little pricey (around $1500).

Any other suggestions?

I know that every wedding is different, but when do you do the first dance, speeches, throwing of the boquets, wedding games etc??could anyone run through a list of what they did at their reception and the order they did it in, what worked and what didn't.....I have a few ideas but I'm still lost?

EXAMPLE:
The MC will introduce herself, ask the guest to stand to their feet and give a warm welcome as she anounce the bridal party

Each couple will enter the hall with a different song playing in the background (up-tempo/fun beat to get the crowd going) as they walk/dance their way up to the front.

Then they announce the Bride & Groom

Do We walk up to the front and do our first dance right away?

Then we do the money dance, and father-daughter / mother-son dance
( I think I would like to seperate the father-daughter / mother-son dance and put it somewhere eles in the night but where?)

we are then seated, pastor prayers and then we start the speeches, keep it short and simple....(I don't see it being anymore then 3-4 speeches)

Ok now what's next????????????

Sometimes the MC encourages the crowd to come up front and take photos (phot-opt) of the bride and groom and the bridal party.....However I think maybe that could be done later....Any suggestion

Then dinner

boquet toss and or garder belt and cutting of the cake (not sure when its done)

Has anyone heard of the shoe game...Would definetly like to do that?

I don't want my guest to be bored but at the same time I don't want too many activites that requires to much participation, because it's more of an older crowd

Hi everyone,

I'm getting married August 1st in Whitby, Ontario but I'm in school in California so it's been a bit of a struggle to get some things figured out from the other side of the country.

Currently I'm on the lookout for a hair salon/spa that is reasonably priced with a bridal package/bridesmaid package of some sort. The problem I've run into is most salons are not open on a Sunday. At this point, I'd just be happy to at least find a salon to do my hair (makeup hopefully too) that is around the Oshawa/Whitby area (I live in Oshawa). Does anyone know of anything?

I have no problem going as far as Bowmanville or Courtice too. Just don't want to be too far so I can get in and get out of the salon the day of, and not have to worry running out of time to get ready, etc

All suggestions would be helpful. Thanks :)

It's on a Sunday, I think 1-4 is enough time but I've never paid attention to this detail in other parties before. Any suggestions?

Hey all. I am debating whether or not to hire a wedding decorator. The wedding is in Canada but we are both overseas right now. We will only return less than 2 monts before the wedding. I do not want to overly rely on my family and cause them stress but I am not sure if a wedding decorator is in the budget. Can any one rececommend an affordable, reliable wedding decorator. Thanks.

I need some help finding a decent wedding venue in the Durham Region, I am also willing to look in the Barrie/Collingwood area .... any suggestions... room size doesn't matter as long as it will hold up to 80 ppl with dance floor (the list can always get cut down) the ideal venue would be 100 - 160 ppl with dance floor, and with a decent price. ---- also any ideas on open bar??????????

First off, thanks for the restaurant recs. We eneded up going to Freds Not Here. The food was fantastic, but the service was a touch lacking. We got to the theatre with only about 5 minutes to spare (waiter was aware we had a show, he was just, well, slow!)

Second, the show was really good! I probably knew/recognized a little more than half of the songs. Maybe if I'd grown up in the 80's instead of being born then, I might have appreciated it better.

I would suggest it though. It was funny and interactive. Just be aware, the upper balcony seats kinda suck. We could only see half of the screen they'd set up at the back of the stage, and couldn't see most of stage right. Lesson learned about the Royal Alex though!
