First of all, sry I haven't posted in forever! There are a few other checks we've gotten done in the past couple months, but I'll post again about those soon. Right now, I'm just SO relieved. After searching like crazy for places over the last month (and especially this past weekend) we finally booked our honeymoon at the Sabor Cozumel resort in Cozumel, Mexico! :)

I really wanted to stay @ the Valentin Imperial in the Riviera Maya, but the prices on bookit.com literally jumped $400 higher pp in the past 2 days. Ridiculous... I still can't believe that!! BUT, FI found the Sabor Cozumel and it was our 2nd choice--and it really does look great. We're staying in the Exclusive side, so there are a couple extra bars & a restaurant that only "Exclusive-side" guests can go to--I think they have 3 swim up bars altogether!! We booked a couple excursions too--ATVs and the Xcaret eco-archeological park. Has anyone been to Cozumel? What excursions would you recommend? (Can we add things on later somehow??)

I'm just so relieved. This process has been really stressful!! Advice to those who haven't booked yet: book now. Don't wait...we did, and we got screwed out of that other hotel. Luckily this deal came along... but those rates skyrocket out of nowhere, so be careful! OK, passing out... goodnight!

Anyone have any good recommendations for a JP in SE CT? And pricing? Im finding the cheapest to be $75 and the highest to be $550. That's a big difference.

Addressing invitations with "and family"

If you address an invitation this way: "Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Family" ...is it safe to assume that Mr. and Mrs. Smith will understand that all of their children are invited? I don't want to confuse anyone. Addressing invitations is harder than I thought it would be!

We are inviting a lot of families, and I find it easier to write "and family" rather than write out each child's name (especially when there are 3 or 4 children in the family). Is this the right way to address our invitations to big families?

Who pays for the bridal shower

I am trying to do most things DIY. I want to make VIP escort cards but I don't have a template and do not know how to make one. I've found some that are available for purchase, but Im not able to put different names on them. They are very standard. I know where to get the lanyards and clear case, but clueless on the card itself... Any ideas?

So originally I was going to have royal blue BM dresses with different shades of yellow gerber daisies. Well, went shopping with the girls today and found a dress everyone loved - but decided I like plum on everyone better than royal blue.

I think my original flower idea (which the florist has) will still work. What do you guys think of the combo and the dress! I personally love it :)

I know everyone has probably seen a similar post before but can someone recommend a nice, not cheesy and reasonably priced DJ. Also, can you tell me how many DJs you talked to before you picked one?

Fondant vs. Buttercream

Are you all doing a buttercream frosting or fondant on your cakes? I've heard fondant tastes funny, but it definitely looks "cleaner." I am not planning on doing a fancy design, so I suppose buttercream would be fine, for what I have in mind. I just want simple white icing, maybe some flowers.

I'm meeting the cake vendor next week and she told me she will have some samples of fondant for me to taste...but I figured I would get some opinions here. Fondant or buttercream?

Variety in Limo Prices

So it's about 4 months until my wedding and I wasn't planning on doing a limo. However, we are getting ready at my parents' house which is about 20 minutes from the venue. Hair and Makeup are also coming there. I was talking to my MOH about it and it might be worth it to get a limo to bring us to the venue then go pick up the guys. I'm thinking this because every person in the bridal party has a significant other not in the bridal party so it would avoid having 2 cars at the wedding. At the bridal show this weekend I talked to 2 limo companies and when I got home asked for a quote from 2 more companies. I only need about an hour and a half of service. These are my options:

#1 - They are getting 2 brand new limos in April, the one I would use is a 9 passenger. They do partial packages so it would come to $213 with tax and gratuity.

#2 - For an hour it would have been $399 and for an hour and a half $499. CRAZY!

#3 - They do a 3 hour minimum and it would be $501 for an 8 passenger.

#4 - $499 for 4 hours.

Talk about variety in prices. Goes to show you should shop around! Guess I know what I will probably be doing. I'm just waiting to hear back from my girls what would be easier. So far 2 said it would be helpful, my MOH probably wouldn't use it because she needs her daughter's car seat, and I'm waiting to hear back from 2 more. Anyone have any great companies they want to recommend?

Oathing Stone Ceremony

I originally wanted to do a sand ceremony. The I spoke to a potential JOP and she gave me the idea of the oathing stone. FI has a very strong Scottish/ Irish backround so this really works for us. We will hold the stone while saying our vows and give out river rocks to all the guests to hold. Then they will write they're names on them and put them in a case for us. What should I call it? and How do I invite people? Do I put a card in the invitations or in the guest bags at the hotel, or is WOM enough??

I am having my wedding reception at The Gershon Fox Room and am not sure if I want my ceremony there as well.

I am interested in maybe having my ceremony at The Asylum Hill Congregational Church. The AHCC sanctuary seats about 800 which is my concern. My wedding will only be about 150 and I am worried about the sanctuary swallowing us but it is breath taking inside!

Will it look silly for me to have my ceremony there?
