I'm trying to get an idea of when we should do our special dances. Obviously, FI and I will do our first dance right after we walk in. We have a short song (2.5 minutes) so we aren't going to have the bridal party join us. Just me and him for the first dance.

We also have a father/daughter and mother/son dance...and now, our parents are thinking they might want to do a "parents dance" for just the 4 of them. So thats 4 special dances that we need to fit into the reception. I don't want people to think that they have to sit and watch dance after dance....so I'm trying to space them out.

When are you doing/did you do your father/daughter, mother/son, and parents dances? Will you do them between courses? All back to back?

Thanks ladies!

For my Candy Buffet, I'm planning on using plastic containers, decorating them up with pretty ribbon, and putting a card on top explaining what it is, then placing them at each table setting (as favors typically are). I was planning to get business cards from Vistaprint to put on them.. I can't find pictures of what exactly I'm trying to do but think this: clicky except with a smaller, clear plastic container.

My question is, what is appropriate to put on the card explaining what the container is for. I was thinking something like "Thank you for sharing in our special day, please help yourself to the candy buffet!'. There will also be two menus at every table listing what is in the buffet, the times of the chocolate fountain and the location of the candy buffet...thoughts?

Are you finding that vendors are starting to get booked? My brother and his girlfriend got engaged on Christmas and she wants a 2013 wedding. She hasn't started looking at any venues, but she has contacted my photographer asking for available dates because he fills up quick.

I got engaged last Christmas and started booking things early for June 2012 to get the vendors I wanted and so that we could pay deposits then not pay anything else for a while. I'm trying to tell him that this was one of the best decisions we've made, but he doesn't want to listen.

My aunt is planning to throw my shower for me and wants it to be a jack and jill (men and women invited) cocktail party set up. Has anyone had a J&J shower before? What is the etiquette here...who gets the invite and who doesn't. I'm not into the idea of inviting every single guest to my shower. Help please!!

I've been so busy with the holidays and planning, that I haven't had a chance to share the amazing engagement pictures that my fiance and I had done with HK Photography. I officially have all of the pictures, but I'll just share the link to the teasers. :) They are seriously amazing photographers!

http://blog.hk-photography.com/AlanaandTravis.html

Ok quick background my FI is catholic as well as his family but they aren't the type of catholics that go to church religiously or even practice the religion all that much. His twin brother was married in a church and had his daughter christened because not only was he catholic but so is his wife. I am not catholic and don't go to church much less practice any religion any more. When I was younger my family and I went to a Non Denomination Christian church.

Here lies my problem. Out of the blue my FMIL dropped it on us that she wants us to have a catholic ceremony preferably in a church.. I don't want to get married in a church personally but not only that, a catholic ceremony won't make my mom all that happy.. I'm trying to compromise and make both parties happy but at the same time this is a BIG thing to compromise for.. My FI doesn't want to get married in a church either and up until this point didn't realize his mom would put up such a stink about it. ... Can anyone help me with finding someone from the catholic church that will go to our venue and marry us in the eyes of the catholic church? I am lost as to where to even start to look let alone how to go about it.

HELP! Please and thank you!!!!

What are you all doing for parents books? Our wedding photos are amazing and I want to do some surprise parent albums for our parents who both have anniversaries in May soon and we are moving in the spring and will not be here for them. Catherine took a lot of great pics of my parents and even my grandmothers dancing, which is a definate. I can do my own coffeetable books but after seeing a few my friends have passed around recently I'm a bit concerned with the way they hold up over time. Do you think it would be worth it to do good albums for my parents or just stick with the coffeetable book. What other pics should I put in them (Engagements??)or should I ruin the surprise a bit and ask them to pick there own? (Which I'm afraid is not going to happen ever since there are nearly 3000 jpegs on my disks.)
