I'm running into a little bit of a dilemma. My parents are divorced, but they are on good terms. My dad has a girlfriend, and my mom has been with my "step-dad" for 15 years (they are not married though). My mom is walking me down the aisle. My FI's parents are still together.

How do I do the seating of the parents? Obviously it will be FI's parents, and my dad and his girlfriend, but who does my step-dad walk down with since my mom is walking me down the aisle? Should I pair him with FI's grandmother as an escort?

Any input is appreciated :) I just don't want him to walk down by himself.

It is so hard to believe that it is almost here, and next weekend I will be married to my best friend! =)

Getting teary just thinking about it...

Anywaysssss...we are about 96% finished with everything.
The only things that we have left are to stock the bar for the reception, finish making escort cards, make a couple final payments, write a "day-of" schedule to give to the parents and bridal party, buy bridal party gifts ...AND WE'RE DONE! Holy moly.

And I do believe that we are UNDER our 5k budget, ...somehow. Details on that and vendor reviews to come shortly after the wedding! =) Thanks for all of your help and advice over the last 10 months, girls! Couldn't have done it without you.

Yay! *happy dance*
I have a very limited budget and my wedding is on January 1st which is a holiday for most businesses. The people don't have to come to us but they do have to be in the Orlando-Goldenrod-Curry Ford area for convenience. Any ideas?

So I booked our cake several months ago & have been trying to contact our baker since mid July with a question. I got a few emails bounced back, a few that went through... but no response to ANY of them. I finally sent a final email about 2 weeks ago saying that we NEED to hear a response as we're getting concerned. No response. So we've tried calling... no answer and her voicemail is full. So tonight we're heading down to her shop... but I doubt it will be open since it's only open by appointment. I'm just trying to figure out if she's still in business! Her website is up and running & I haven't heard anything about it being closed. We're less than 6 months out now & I need to know if we're going to have to book someone else... which at this point I'm thinking we'll want to do regardless, even if she is still in business, she's not very reliable. I payed her through paypal for our deposit... does anyone know if I can dispute it through them? I know you can if you buy something on ebay...

AHHHHHHH! So annoying! lol Just had to vent.

My FI's family was going to pay for our honeymoon. However, the wedding has become a lot more expensive than we budgeted for (and this is already after cutting costs on many things). So FI and I spoke and decided to use the money from his parents to help my father with the wedding costs. But then we would forego going on a honeymoon and wait maybe a yr for our one year to save up for a nice honeymoon. We cannot afford one ourselves right now bc we barely have enough for a downpayment on a house. We do not want to have this wedding and a nice honeymoon then come home and still live with our parents!

My FI's aunt already has a timeshare saved for us to go to Spain (our original honeymoon destination). She went through a lot to get that for us. We feel awful to tell her we will not be using it now, so FI suggested maybe doing a honeyfund?

I feel torn between this, as I see a honeyfund as being kind of greedy. Like , HEY pay for our honeymoond and give us money!!" But on the otherside, we really would be using it for this honeymoon we are looking forward to havning.

What should we do?
I just got engaged in July and we're aiming for an April 2012 wedding. :)

We're looking for a venue that isn't outrageously priced. We live close to downtown Orlando, so I am interested in Winter Park venues. I did, however, get a recommendation for the Lake Mary Events Center and was wondering if anyone had any experience here? The place is gorgeous.

I was also looking at Leu Gardens, but I keep hearing terrible things about them. The website makes it sound like they're so strict, I feel like I would have so much more added stress if the venue is so cold and unwelcoming!

Anyway, I'll probably be lurking around, but it's nice to say hello. So. "Hello!"

Do I have to go directly through my church to register for pre cana? Although I was raised Catholic I have been attending a nondenominational church this past year & have not been active in my former church much. FI's uncle is marrying us, he is not Catholic but has asked that we attend premarriage counseling of some sort, of our choosing. Because we are not having a Catholic ceremony it is important to my dad that we at least go through pre cana through the Catholic church, which we are more than happy to do. I just feel odd going back to my church to be like so.... I know we don't attend church here and all... but can you set this up/okay this/etc. There's a number listed on the diocese of Orlando website... Can I just call them and set it up directly with them without having to go through the church? Thanks in advance ladies!! :)

I used Jay from LIquid Entertainment, and he is higher so I wanted to help her but I haven't really heard anything about other DJ's and there is so many.
Has anyone ever heard of DJ Skoot, his name is Scott Thompson? Or any ideas on great DJ's for under 1,000 for ceremony and reception.

Thanks :)

So, I have like, a freaking week to go before the wedding and Im stressing and everyone is pissing me off lately...but this story is insane.

At our apartments, there have been teenagers, or university girls skateboarding in the evenings IN THEIR UNDERWEAR!! There are elderly people and families with young kids that live around here, and I think that its totally inappropriate for them to be exposing themselves around our apartment complex like that, I mean, geez!! And not to mention the fact that I almost ran one over because they're ALL OVER THE PLACE, darting out from behind cars and sh*t. Anyways....the REAL story is this: I wrote about the incidents on our apartment's Facebook page to see if they could put an end to it or something. The apartment employees were very polite about the whole thing and I haven't seen these naked girls since. Ok, cool, its done. But there is this old guy that lives here who ALSO commented on my post and said this:

"They are just teenagers and college kids having fun and not bothering anyone. It reminds me of Sesame street. I remember when skateboards first came out and we were riding them in the street and the neighbors called the police on us. I thought that was really unfair and uncalled for for the neighbors to do that."

To which FI responded "Girls in underwear reminds you of Sesame Street?"

And btw old man...not bothering anyone?? wtf, I almost killed one with my car!

Anyone else think that is weird though? I'm not just losing my mind am I? Grown grils in public in their underwear...ughh. weird.

Ok ladies...any ideas of how much it costs for alterations?

All I will be having done is a simple bussle and straps attached. Just trying to get a ballpark figure so I can have somewhat of a guess...

I got my dress at Davids Bridal and chose to go there for my alterations, and they called me to confirm my appointment and told me payment will be due tomorrow for the alterations. I was kinda surprised by this as anywhere else it seems you pay for services once you've received them. Has anyone else gone to Davids Bridal for their alterations? Should I push back on them and say I dont want to pay the full cost till I've seen the finished product?

TIA for any advice/help you can give!
