So, I was laid off at my job of 3.5+ years last week. I'm really nervous because I have been actively looking for work for 4 months now and have not been receiving calls back. If any of you knows of anything available in the Sanford/Lake Mary side of town...or even Oviedo, Winter Springs, Altamonte...will you send me a private message with the info? My degree is in human resources.

Thanks all. I'm more than a little stressed out about this. :(

So I am having a hard time choosing from my brides maids who will be my MOH. Let me prefrece that I love all these girls and they are so dear to me that is what makes it so hard to choose.

BM 1 - Known since 3rd grade. Has the biggest heart of anyone I know. Though doesn't always gives her friends much of her time lately especially if there is a guy in her life that she is obessed over (which there is, who is completely horrible). She just seems a little stuck back when we were in high school and hasn't grown up and that isn't fully her fault because she still lives at home, works two jobs, trying to finish school (slowly) and her parents are wacked out divorce. I love her and thought she would be my MOH but her behavior lately with her bad dating life and never returing friends calls etc I have been questioning whether she would be responsible enough and actually want to be my MOH.

BM 2 - Also known since 3rd grade. Was crazy in high school and we fell apart for a few years but now we are great friends again. She has been super supportive and always offered help in any form for the wedding. She has grown up a lot over the years. Went with my mom and I dress shopping, but I never imagined her as my MOH. I love her trust me.

BM 3 - Know since the first day of high school. Is very shy at first around new people (she claims I brought her out of her shell in high school). She now is studying at the American University of Paris in France but graduates in the Spring. I think she might get nervous giving a speech in front of a group of people though.

BM4- Known since the first day of College. We lived together for two years and is one the nicest / smartest people I know. She also has amazing calligraphy skills (which I might pay her to help me write my envelopes) and one the best writers I know. which I know she would do an amazing MOH speech for us. She is recetnly married. She also knows my FI the best out the girls since I met him in college and he was around her a lot when we were dating.

like I said I love them all so much I don't know who to pick. They are all so great to me and support me. I wish I didn't have to pick anyone but I do because people expect a MOH and a MOH speech etc, plus there is already a BM. HELP! I need some other people's perspectives.

TIA

I haven't been very active on these boards lately. The main reason for that has been because this wedding planning--so far--has really not been a lof of fun. The problem is we are getting married in the Greek Orthodox Church, and there are sooo many time throughout the year when weddings can't be done. I am finishing on my last year at Stetson University, conducting a Senior Research Experiement, working around 25 hours a week, and commuting 2 hours a day. So I have no time right now to start looking at venues. From Aug-Nov my FI works around 15 hr days, so we really can't start looking until the first of the next year. We have narrowed it down to these months to get married: very end of Jan, first 3 weeks of Feb, last week of April, June, and July. Oh, and the Greek Orthodox religion won't perform wedding cermonies during Lent.

Secondly, I can't stand the Greek Priest who will be marrying us (and there are only 2 in the entire central florida area!). We are getting married in the Greek church b/c it will mean a lot to my dad, who is also paying for the wedding. Even though we will never go back to that church, we have to lie and say we will raise our kids Greek Orthodox and all of this BS. Then, I had to get re-baptized b/c I've received communion elsewhere. My poor MOH had to get a formal letter from her church saying that she is in good standing with the church (and pay around $100 to become a member). Plus, my dad has to end up paying $1000 to have this wedding in a church we won't have anything to do with later. He knows this, and he's fine with it. He just wants to see me married there.

I'm sure all of you know how it is with venues in Orlando. From what I heard they book super fast. So if we are thinking a 2012 spring wedding, we freaking have to wait until april 2011 to book. It's so crazy. Then we have to make sure it's OK with the church b/c they have SO many rules.

Everyone is also SO excited about our wedding, and when made our list it looks like we will have at least 200. Plus, we have to find a venue close to the church for the reception. I know these places are going to be SO expensive. I am just starting to feel like it's the biggest waste of money. I mean, it doesn't make my marriage any less of a marriage without all the hoopla. I just want this day to be about me and my FI not about all the ridiculous preparations. I always dreamed of having this over-the-top wedding with all of the trimmings. But I am at the point if we just went down to city hall and had a party afterwards with our closest friends and family that be great too. Or if we had an intimate ceremony on the beach and went on a 2-week honeymoon. I just don't want to look back and say ''wow, i can't believe we spent this much money on a wedding,'' when all that really matters is that me and my FI can't wait to start our future together. I don't think anything can top that feeling.

I haven't told my parents my feelings, but I told my FI and he wants whatever makes me happy. Has anyone ever felt this way? during the wedding process? after? I am sure some of u might think I am crazy, but oh well

I'm a Brit (and impending immigrant ;)) so I'm not really familiar with the big insurance companies in the USA and it would be great if I could get some advice from anyone on who to go for.

My wedding is right at the very end of hurricane season, but I'm watching the 3 storms forming in a row right now and predictions of the most active season for years and figured insurance is a bloody good idea, given that I have nearly 20 friends and family coming from the UK for the wedding...

Any suggestions gratefully received!!

Jess :)

Brittany Miller of Bella Allure Imagery did my photos for my wedding. They were incredilble, the one thing people kept telling was they looked like they were for a magazine. We are truly lucky and blessed to have found Brittany because my husband and I will carry these beautiful pictures for the rest of our lives. We show them off to everyone we know and everyone falls in love with them. Brittany is very responsible with getting everything taken care of, she is on time to everything and is extremely professional. She makes you feel comfortable with her by letting you know what you'll expect in the shoots (she also did our engagement pictures). Her creativity far surpasses any photographer I have come across. Her prices are as well, very reasonable, she has a package for every kind of budget. When we told our friends who have already gotten married about the price Brittany charged and everything that was included, their jaws dropped. Like I said before, Brittany is amazing what she does and loves it. Her work is her proof of the passion she has for this. I recommend her to everyone and anyone. Having Brittany Miller of Bella Allure Imagery as your wedding/event photographer is something you would never regret!

Check out her site: www.bellaallureimagery.com

Sincerely,
 Frances M.

This may sound silly, but I really have no idea how to go about this. I know my immediate family will need 2-3 rooms, but have no idea how many other people will be interested. Most of our guests live within a 2 hour drive or will be staying with relatives within a 2 hour drive, but I do know some people may wish to, umm celebrate to the fullest (i.e. get drunk) and may need a room. How many should I ask for? What are the rules for changing numbers etc? Also, anyone have recommendations for an inexpensive but nice hotel in Lake Mary? TIA

Ok I don't have a whole lot of vendors, and with that some of them own their business. I know one "rule" is that if they own their business, you do not need to tip. However, I have one circumstance that is a bit confusing. My main photographer owns his business...However, the second photographer coming with him is his employee...so do I tip him but not the owner? Or if I tip one do I need to tip the other?

...to start reading these boards! They are so helpful!
I currently live in Boston, after 30 years in the Orlando area.

Me and my fiance are getting married in Jamaica on 12/01/10, just the two of us.
Then we are having a reception in Central Florida on 12/11/10.....and then another in Pennsylvania in Spring 2011 (not even going to start planning that one yet).

We are on a low budget, paying for most stuff ourselves, and hoping to start a family soon!!!
Since I live so far away now and we are only having the reception, this has become more difficult...and stressful, than I thought. I have this constant worry that December will be here and I won't have everything done

Our reception is at the City of Oakland Meeting Hall, near Ocoee. We had some good friends get married there a few years ago, although we were unable to be there (had just moved to Cali).

It will be a casual, afternoon reception with food from Bubbalou's Bodacious BBQ (a favorite of mine and my Dad's when we would meet for lunch)...that fits into our style and budget perfectly.

As of right now we are planning on using our iPod for music with a sound system, although part of me would like a DJ, music is a VERY important part of the day!

I have a photographer for the reception, miriphoto.com, who I know through a friend of mine.
We are using Tabitha McCausland and Cinematique Films for the wedding in Jamaica, but Tabitha was not available for our reception date. I can't wait to see her work!!!

I am still undecided on our cake...aka cupcakes. It's hard to choose when I can't taste from this far away.

I would love a DOC, but unsure if it's worth the $$, especially since we won't have a rehearsal or ceremony.

My theme snowflakes, and colors of silver, blue. and purple. Purple because I plan on changing into a cocktail dress and the fiance says that's my best color

I need linens and chair covers, just started researching that.

Does anyone know of good places to get alcohol in bulk, with possibly a buy-back program.

Well, that's enough rambling on.....any suggestions, help is much appreciated!!
Thanks all!
