so registry question...one my best friends is getting married this weekend. I am a terrible bridesmaid and haven't gotten their gift yet (life has been crazy past three months). Anyway so my fiance (who was invited but can't go) and I are looking to getting them a new down comforter. They asked for one from target but after looking at it and reviews I just isn't exactly what I think would last a long time (quality). I have found one through Macy's that is on their like annual sale has the best reviews I have seen and about $10 cheaper. Is it a no no to get an item they want, but not the exact item? I don't want her to be dissapointment not getting that one, but I think comforter is actually better than the one she asked for.

what do you ladies think? Did anyone do this for you for your registry gifts?

Holy smokes those 2 weeks flew by... I left at the beginning of June and come back and it is already almost July... whoa lol. I feel completely rejuvenated even though I came back from vacation and got the flu/cold. I guess being around family, getting a break from work, and just being able to relax does a little good to a person... I feel flippin amazing... even with the sniffles and a cough that sounds like a dog barking lol. Hello All,

As of last Friday, I'm now offically engaged! I'm so excited and overwhelmed by the whole of idea of planning the wedding of my dreams. As of now, we are planning on a April 23, 2011 wedding. That only gives us like 10 months so I feel like I'm playing catch up already. I wanted a huge tent wedding with an estimated guest list of 250. I had a perfect location in mind but that might not be an option any longer. Any ideas of where to have a tent wedding hopefully without having to use a specific caterer but that is not a necessity? Oh and to make maters worst I'm planning from DC where I live right now but will be having the ceremony in my hometown of Kissimmee.

Stuck on an exit idea

Hey everyone...
Need opinions!!! So, I am getting married in Mov at the Ballroom at Church Street. I have my Bridal Suite/Honeymoon Suite reserved at the Grand Bohemian, literally 2 blocks down the street.
My plan to get to the Ballroom before the ceremony is to simply walk. We are going ot be taking pictures down Church Street Station, so I don't think we need to have any transportation to the Ballroom from there. Although, I have been contemplating what to do with the family members and how to get them transported.
My bigger question is what should i do for an exit and getting us back to the Bohemian. I thought abotu doing the Orlando Pedi-cabs and having ours decorated. Has anyone had any experience with this, or can think of another *Affordable* option. I really don't find it necassary to spend hundreds of dollars on a limo to take us two blocks.

I am completely clueless when it comes to veils and how to order them or which ones woudl look right with my dress. I know that I want something super simple, since i really don't see myself wearing it after the ceremony. And I don't want anything that is going to overpower my head. I want something very sheer and simple.
My dress also has a lot of detail on the back (corset backetc), so i don't want o take away from that either!!
All of these different options: angel cut, standard cut, square cut, single layer, double layer..... and the list goes one and on.
How is one to choose and knwo what look right with thier dress when ordering online to try and save $$. YIKES AND HELP!

Ok so I need some help with Ideas....

We are working on ideas for place cards ect; however we do not want to do traditional table numbers we would like to give the tables names. Here are our ideas so far. My fiance proposed at Magic Kingdom and Disney is our favorite place so that is why all the Disney ideas b/c we wanted to include that in our wedding some how. I was talking to FI last night about venue. I know he is a man . But sometimes I wish he would get more involved. Basically he would be fine with anything I do. Last Night he told me this is my day and I can do what I want . I was like well its your day too. Then he said I am fine with whatever you choose. Ugh men. My fi would be fine getting married anywhere , courthouse, venue. I just want to involve him in some way with the wedding and decision making and like I go to him with two chooses for something I like and ask him what he thinks. He will either say I like them both or whatever one I want to use....

I can't believe I did this, but I bought a new dress. My first was a brand new Alfred Angelo I bought off ebay that I liked, but didn't love. Well, fast forward to this evening and I somehow ended up with a new dress while helping my MOH pick out her dress. The dress was on the sale rack and I am in love. My first dress has found its way back to ebay. lol Just thought I would share! :)

I met with Vicki from peddles on Friday and was very impressed with her! It almost seemed like she read my mind! She was the first florist I've spoken with who did NOT suggest using silk flowers instead of what I really want- lisianthis!!

Who has had experience with her? I looked through her books, but much prefer to hear stories from the source.

I'm also open to recommendations of other flower people in the Orlando area.

And yes, I've seen all of the recent flower posts- I just love stories and giving people an opportunity to gush about the vendors they love!!!

I'm really annoyed that I've called a few companies and they are all quoting me between 125 and 150 for a one way ride from his house to the church. It would be a 45 min drive max. I think thats ridiculous. The problem is they keep asking me what the occasion is and I'm a terrible liar and I think they double the price for weddings. Do you guys know of some way they could get to the church without paying an arm and a leg? It doesn't need to be fancy but it absolutely must be on time.

Does anyone know of a person or compnay that will come and press your gown on the wedding day? All of my bridesmaids are from out of town and will be flying in for the wedding. They will need to get their dresses steamed so they aren't all wrinkled. Mine will probably be semi wrinkled also just from hanging in the bag.

Entertainment during gap

I posted about this before but I had another idea and thought I'd ask again.

Abbreviated question: should I give playing cards at the church after the ceremony to guests so they have something to do during the gap?

Explanation:

The latest I can have my Catholic wedding is 2PM. It will be over between 3 and 3:15 and the cocktail hour is at the Portofino Bay hotel at Universal Studios at 5PM. So the guests will have about an hour to an hour and a half at the Portofino Bay before the Cocktail hour. I can't do drinks and snacks I bring in because the Portofino won't let me. When I posted this before, everyone said it would be great to have an hour to just explore the hotel, the shopping and Citywalk and I shouldn't worry. However, if it rains, no one will want to explore all the piazzas or Citywalk so they'll be in the lounge and Bar American for the hour to hour and a half. I'm worried this will be too long especially for guests who only know their date.

So, I was thinking of getting playing cards to give out at the church after the ceremony so people could have something to entertain themselves with and play cards with others at the bar during the gap. What do you think of this idea? I'm not doing favors and I don't know that I would call this a favor. I would just have a sign saying "for your entertainment". Playing cards don't have anything to do with our wedding theme but if it rains or the weather's bad it's something for them to do.
