DIYing a Card Box

Hey ladies...My mom and I are creating our card box, and we've found the perfect boxes....we just aren't sure how to cover them.

For those of you who DIYed your card box, how did you cover the boxes or change them to be your colors? We were thinking paper, but I am not sure where to go to get paper large enough to cover the boxes (one is larger than the other as we are doing a tiered card box)....

Anyone who has any suggestions is aaaaamazing as I am clueless!

So...i come home after a long day at work and check the mail. I have 1 RSVP which disappoints me a little, but i know comes with the territory! I get upstairs to my apt and see that there is a UPS sticky on the kitchen counter. FI has been waiting for some CDs from France for about 1 week now so i'm thinking that they finally came in since i called about them this morning.

I get to the front office and the guy comes out with a HUGE box and asks me if he can bring it to my car. I immediately start freaking out...im like...is this a bomb or something? I didnt order anything....so i look on the top of the box to see who its from, and the package is from Macys! I figured it was my parents that bought me a gift and wanted to send it to my apt now, even though i told them that if they were to buy me a gift they could just leave it at their house since we will be leaving Tampa pretty soon. They already got us a comforter set i had asked for (it was 350 and went on sale for 99 and said "limited quantity" so i told them to please go to the store and purchase it LOL) son i thought maybe they bought some extra pillows as a surprise or something.

I drive home from the leasing office and didnt realize how heavy the box was. I live on the 2nd floor so i had to ask a guy to bring it up to my apt. I open the box...and i see a whole bunch of big boxes and stuff wrapped...i look inside and see a receipt...and im wondering WHO THE HE!! bough this stuff?! I start opening it...and it ends up being the set of everyday dinnerware I asked for! Im still searching...and FINALLY i find a card... it's from an 80 year old relative of mine who is taking the bus from NY (i dont know why she doesn't take a plane) to come to the wedding! She bought all 8 that i asked for! So i now have 8 place settings that were extremely pretty that cost a pretty penny for simple everyday dinnerware!

I am extremely ecstatic and so grateful that this lady and her daughter bought a gift for us! I truly wasn't expecting something in the mail today, and poor Carl still hasn't received his CDs! LOL

Sorry so long, but i HAD to share :) no one else would get as excited as I would about these things but you gals!

I have struck out with two wedding bakers in Orlando and one in melbourne. Not to mention the friend of a friend and the mom of a friend. This has been the hardest thing for me to book! Do these people really not want my money?? What is going on? I know exactly what I want I just need someone to make it. Anyone have any suggestions?

you invite to a dinner party other than your family or soon to be family?

My three would be Anthony Bourdain, Tim Gunn and Whoopi Goldberg. Anthony because I am sure he would recommend some really cool place to dine like on top of a Mayan Ruin with some amazing indigenous food. Tim would be a great contrast to Anthony and could give me some great fashion tips. Top that off with some Whoopi and we have a party!

I should have probably picked someone inspirational, but I will save that for my next dinner party.

I bought my wedding dress a few weeks ago one size too small (against the better judgement of some of you all!). I've given myself the deadline of October to get into it so that I have time to shop for something else if I need to, or start getting alterations going if I fit it. I would like to lose about 20lbs. I lost 53 a few years ago, so I figured this would be easy, but its not as easy this time around now that I have a fiance that eats like 6000 calories a day and never gains weight. I started doing pushups against the wall every time I go to the bathroom, which I think I got from someone here. :) Is there anything you do that makes eating healthy or shaping up easier? Any favorite healthy meals or snacks?

I know Jess mentioned Spice, and there's this place called OLV in the SoDo complex, not far from 'true' downtown. There's also Wildside BBQ, Anthony's Pizza... any other ideas?

I found my princess dress. PLEASE tell me your opinion! I am very conscious of my arms and all my BM says that I dont need a wrap or anything. But is MY pictures. So I hate my arms and dont know if I shoud get a wrap or something at least for the ceremony. BUT my dress is kinda heavy and the ceremony is outside. So I guess its a lose lose. Please help! (IF ITS REALLY BAD PLEASE TELL ME!!!!)

Ok, so the cake tasting went well and we booked Anna Cakes for our cupcake style wedding cake =) Shes awesome and we came in $50 under budget, woo!!

So then we're excited and heading home ...the meeting with Anna was at 630 at the Panera in Winter Springs and we live in Melbourne (an hour and 20 min drive)...then all of a sudden, 45 miles from home...BAM!!!!!!!!

Theres a F***ING metal table saw in the middle of Hwy 528 directly in our lane.
Yes...a table saw. We had to repeat it several times to the insurance ppl. they didnt believe it either. But seriously...how did the owner of that saw not notice that it was hurled out of the back of their truck?? yikessssss.

There was a car to our right and nowhere or no time to swerve to miss it...so, Jacob hits it head on in his BRAND NEW 2010 Mazda 3. Tragic. Sparks were flying everywhere, LUCKILY no one was hurt (other than the car)...but ok, the accident happened at like, 8 0r 830ish ...called Geiko, they set us up with a towing company...they showed up at like, 1030. We eventually make it home at 11:30 safe and sound...EXCEPT, i got bitten by ants in the meantime and im freaking allergic. im now incredibly itchy all over my body, especially my scalp and chest...and my face is swollen up like a freaking...i dont even know what...but its gross.

Gahhh, im going to bed!
At least the cake was good...

I know there are some recommendations out there for excellent florists, but they are out of our price range. We are considering using Costco/Sams/Publix or something of the sort if need be, but I was wondering if you ladies had any better suggestions. Thanks in advance!

So today has been filled with DRAMA!! I was at the mall getting FI phone fixed and my I got a text it was FI best mans girlfriend who doesn't like me and i dont like her we have a REALLY bad past but I was looking past it for FI and his best mans sake. Anyways she asked how much the tuxes were going to be when they pick them up. I told her the price that was told to them when he went and got fitted for it and she says well we cant afford it so cody(best man) wont be getting his and I dont want him in YOUR wedding so hes not going to be in it but we will still come. By the way my wedding is THIS saturday!!! So I called FI Freaking out asking him to please fix it. So he calls BM and they get into a huge argument. and FI calls me back and says that BM will be replaced see if we can get josh in to get a tux!! so I text BM girlfriend back and tell her that she BETTER not show up at my wedding because if they are going to SCREW me over 5 days before my wedding then they better hope I dont see them cause i may go a little insane. So in better news we got a replacement BM got him fitted for his tux and we are getting back on track!!! GOD GIVE ME STRENGTH TO GET THROUGH THIS NEXT 5 days!!!! AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Heading to Orlando later this evening to taste some cakes and make a decision! Mmmmm, cake. I'll be dreaming about it all day.

In other news...I'm on my way (in approx 10min) to the post office to ship out a chunk of our invitations!! I am so sick of these suckers...I can't wait for them to be OUT OF MY HOUSE!!! I have 50 of them completely finished and ready to go, so Im taking them...but then I have to come back home and finish the other 40 or so. >.< I've been putting them together for days!...BUT!!....they've turned out really cool and its worth the time and energy (and savings!). Im sending them out earlier than most, since 99% of our guests are from WV and OH and will have to request time from work and buy plane tix and everything...so this should give them time to get things planned out!

These are some of the stacks of individual parts before construction began 3 days ago. We have around 90 book-style invitations and a kraft box for each with its own address label. (see bio).

This box is packed with the 50 that are being shipped today! =) yay!!

I love all of this planning but since I have never done this before I feel like I am completely missing something big or a bunch of little somethings.

Oil Spill Affecting Honeymoon

MY MOH informed me that my honeymoon cruise to mexico this oct COULD be canelled due to the oil spill!! Has anyone heard about this happening? Do cruise lines make alternate routes or just canel the trip?
