I've had atleast 5 requests from people in the last 4 days (mainly friends facebooking me) about bring dates or plus ones or bfs that I didn't even know existed. I was very very specific about writing only the names of invited guests on the inner and outer envelopes. I don't get how this many of my friends think they can bring just whoever they want.
What's worse is they message me saying they are "confused" because they weren't sure if by me writing "Jane Smith" whether or not I meant "Jane smith and Jane's sister"....COME ON! I would have wrote Jane's sister if I meant to invite Jane's sister.

No one does this for ANY other event you have, why do they do it for weddings???

Hey ladies. I have been a member of the same Catholic church since I was a baby. My fiancee wants to have his uncle who is a presbyterian preacher perform the ceremony, which is fine with me. I thought it would be nice to also include my own faith & have a dual ceremony with a Catholic priest. Our wedding is going to be outside at the Lake Mary Events Center, but our priest said he would perform the ceremony if we went through the Pre-Cana wedding preperation stuff. The problem is FI is not religious at ALL. He wants his uncle to perform the ceremony since he is a family member and it would be meaningful for him for that reason. How awkward would it be for my nonreligious fiancee to have to go through this with me? It's not the end of the world if we don't end up having a priest there, I just want to get a better idea of the process so I can decide whether or not I want to subject FI to it or not. ;) lol Thanks!

The question is what theme should the shower be?
Ideas that have been proposed are the following, the things that I have little issues with in parentheses:
- lingerie (I don't really care for getting a bunch of lingerie)
- Holiday (it may be hard to find all kinds of holiday stuff now)
- linen (expensive $$$$)
- Around the clock (kinda silly, will prob get stuff we wont use)

Any other ideas or any of these that ya'll like the sound of?

I just had my second fitting with the seamstress and it didn't go well. I felt like I was going to pop out of the dress so we pulled it up more but then the straps were too tight and made my shoulders red in five minutes. It was also still too long. Nothing that we altered fit right. In addition, she kept saying that I couldn't do the electric slide in the dress that I couldn't lean back ever that I'd have to be really delicate all the time. She kept saying this isn't jeans and a t shirt. After the fitting, I cried a lot. I just really wanted it to fit right and look perfect and it doesn't. I want to be able to move around and dance in it and not worry. She is stressing me out so much with all of her negative comments that I don't even like my dress anymore because I just keep seeing everything that's wrong with it. I really want to put on my dress and feel pretty and she just tore me down with her comments.

So, I was thinking about ordering a different dress to wear at the reception in case she's right and I won't be able to dance without popping out of this dress or whatever. I found a tea length one that I love from lightinthebox.com but it costs two hundred dollars and if I ordered it today, it could get here at latest the week before my wedding.

Should I buy the second dress or not?

I did not budget on another dress and before I met this seamstress, I had really loved my dress and planned on wearing it all night. Her comments have literally made me sick with anxiety. I feel like she's going to make the dress worse. She's already had it for five weeks and now it will take another month to make it shorter and shorten the straps. I'm afraid it just won't turn out right.

So I've been putting off dress shopping because 6 months ago I had a beautiful Baby Girl and gained 55 pounds. Now that I am in 5 pounds of my pre pregnancy weight I am ready to go shopping for a bridal gown!!! Very excited about it!!!

Where would you send me? I went shopping once with a friend at David's Bridal for her wedding and that realy isn't that type of shop I'm looking for I want something a little more intimate and where I feel special. I'm looking up reviews of Bridal shops and so many have such bad reviews so I am confused!!!

I am willing to drive a little too for a great experience with the perfect person! Especially since I will be going with just my mother and we just lost my grandmother her mother and we always talked about her being there.

I was planning on making white chocolate fruit and nut clusters (slivered almonds, dried cranberries, pistachios, and golden raisins mixed in white chocolate) as my favors. Today's Groupon is $35 worth of custom fortune cookies for $15. I would have to place two separate orders to get enough, but it might be fun. I was thinking about two cookies per guest. My fiance is half Chinese. My budget is about $100 for favors, which should be doable for either option. If you were a guest, which would you rather receive?

I was watching an old episode of Bridezilla where this girl had organized a mystery dinner type thing at her reception for her guest to participate in. It got me thinking...

Would you (or did you) do an organized game at your wedding, meaning the DJ announces it and the guests are all (ideally) supposed to participate? What are the pluses and minuses? Have you been to a wedding where one was done? Would you do it if you were a guest?

I'm not doing anything like that at my wedding but I'm just curious.

So...i asked my wedding venue to see if there was anywhere we could cut down on cost. Well we had 3 passed hors d'oeuvres and an action station and had upgraded to a bigger dancefllor because theirs was 18 by 18. Well, we took out 1 passed hors d'oeuvres because no one will notice (and they will still have 3 things to eat) and that saved 3$ per person! We also found out that the venue upgraded their dance floor to 20 by 20 now...so we are good to go! That, plus service charge and tax saved us 800.36 cents! I am so excited! It may not seem like much, but it is a heck of a lot right about now!

Oh and we're not doing "favors" but since we have a photobooth, each guest will get a copy of the picture they take in there with our monogram and design at the bottom. That's enough! So...i think we saved about 150 right there!

I'm really excited, just wanted to share!

I got the same idea that the person below me has for the flavored fortune cookies with the discount to use as favors for the wedding.

Here's my question:

We weren't going to do favors at all because people don't normally take them and I thought they'd be a waste but this one seemed affordable and fun so I'm considering it. My fiance thinks it is not a good idea and here's why:

Our wedding is very formal with very gourmet and elegant food, a champagne signature drink and it's at the Portofino Bay so it feels kind of princessy. He thinks that after the gourmet meal and cake that the flavored fortune cookies will seem really cheap and that it would be better not to have them because they won't be missed. He thought the cheap fortune cookie was not the best last impression considering how expensive the food is. He also said that fortune cookies don't fit with the theme or feel of our wedding.

What do you all think? Should we skip them or do you think people would appreciate getting a flavored fortune cookie?
