Ceremony/Reception Venues in St.Augustine

We are looking for a venue that allows us to use our own caterer not necessarily have our ceremony there (we could have it somewhere else). We want it to be next to the intercoastal waterway or the beach a 5 minute alk or drive. We do not want it inland st.augustine. We'd love to have it at the Ribault Club in Fort George Island but would rather find somewhere more reasonable. If anyone knows of ay place that would be great..Thanks

Bridal portraits

My parents live in Pensacola, and although I'm holding my wedding in New Orleans where my fiance and I live, my fantasy was to get married on the beach and I'm thinking about having bridal portraits taken on a beach in the Pensacola area by Pensacola-based photographer. Any advice would be welcome as far as recommedations for photographers (especially if they were budget friendly...I like East Hill's web site but not sure if they're pricey), which beach/area to go to, and anything else that worked/didn't work for anyone else who had this done. What if it rains the day you're scheduled with the photographer? Was your dress fine after you got it cleaned to remove any sand, etc.? What time of year would be best to have this done? (My wedding is in April 2012 so I'm thinking late October which is closer to my wedding and when the temperature is likely to be comfortable, but concerned about risking a washout from a $#@*! hurricane so not sure if it would be better to go ahead and get my dress fitted soon and go for bridals this upcoming April or May). I'm interested in having both daylight portraits and some silhouetted against the sunset/sunrise but not sure if/how that would be possible unless I schedule two separate photo sessions, so any input about that would also be helpful. I am on the hunt for tin watering cans that could be used as my centerpieces! Can anyone offer any suggestions on where to find them at a good price or do any brides have leftovers? Also, I would love to find lanterns to use for my aisle. I am thinking big ones and ones that can be hung on a shepherds hook. I appreciate any feedback!! Thanks!!

Ok brides, I just bought my dress from Silhouettes, Etc. in Tallahassee. I was amazed at the selection, quality, and most of all, prices! This is the only bridal outlet and I ended up getting my dream dress for 75% off the original price. I'm sure this sounds unbelievable, but I had to post and share the info. Any other brides that have/are going to get married in the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine? We're getting married there on May 22 and I'm looking for advice on a few things.

How far ahead of time did you arrive at the ceremony and then did you stand outside until your entrance? I'm not sure how to handle this since there's no bride's room and I don't want my groom to see me before my entrance :)

I have a very good friend that is getting married in St Augustine at the Casa Monica in July and she is looking for a very GOOD Florist. She does not live in the area, this is going to be a Destination Wedding for her so the majority of her work will be done via email with the Florist/Designer. Any suggestions would be great!

I am sooo excited I just booked and paid for my venue. The venue is Big Lagoon State Park. The ceremony will be held in the amphitheater and the reception in the Governor's Pavillion. I think this is a beautiful AND affordable place to have a wedding (less than $500 and that is including a $125 fee I have to pay because we want to party til 10pm). If you are not sure where to have your wedding, go to Big Lagoon and have a peak at it. They have a website but it does not do the park justice.

ALSO another thing I'm excited about is the camping my family loves camping and will be travelling 8 hours away so it is very convenient to just walk back and forht to the tents and party wooooo :)

TURTLE LIGHTS???

I am renting a beach home on St. George Island and I was told by the rental property manager that May-October is turtle season and I cannot use white lights only yellow (red and orange) when decorating. Has anyone had any problems with this and could help me out with some ideas or insight to this? I understand its to not disturb the turtles when they move towards the ocean but are there ways to decorate with candles, tiki lights and soft white christmas lights without distrubing the turtles?? Please help!!

Hotel blocks in St. Augustine?

Uh-oh. I just found out that our wedding is during the FL-GA game in Jax, which is apparently a sell-out weekend for hotels in downtown St Aug. I have to set up my blocks like, yesterday, but am a little overwhelmed. Where did you block your rooms and what kind of rates did you get? Did most of your guests stay at the same hotel, or did they prefer to do the B&B thing?

Humidity proof makeup suggestions?

Anyone have any good suggestions on what kind of makeup to use for a June beach wedding? Its most likely going to be pretty hot and humid, and my girls and I are doing our own makeup. Specifically looking for good foundation suggestions. I currently use Mary Kay, but I have never tested it out on the beach ( I live in Ohio).

Does anyone have any recommendations for caterers in Jacksonville? Or, any caterers that I should stay away from? My wedding is in November and I’m having the reception in a good friend’s back yard. I’m trying to find an affordable caterer that will provide excellent food and service, and also be able to help me with rental items (tables, chairs, linens, etc.)

So far I’ve contacted Perfect Pear, Chef’s Garden Catering and Mai Oui! Gourmet. Any feedback on these? Or any others I should check out?

I would like to have them in the same place bc i will be having quite a few elderly people at my wedding so I don't mind a small walk but not everyone can walk to far. I have found one place that would be perfect but I'm not really sure its for me. I don't know of anywhere else in the Pensacola area//navarre beach area that would be good. We either want a park or water front wedding and we are planning for October 1st of 2011. So it won't be too hot and won't be too cold.

I am getting married in Destin next Labor Day weekend and there are a few vendors I would really like to hire based on what other brides have to say . .

Make-Up Artist - I am looking for someone who makes me look natural - just with a glow and does enough so the camera doesnt wash me out (sometimes I see brides with the noticeably rosy cheeks and black eyeliner from the 80's . . I would FREAK OUT if that happened to me. . LOL)

Photographer: My first choice is a lady named Mari . . I L-O-V-E her work!!! However, I just dont know if I can afford to squeeze her into my budget. I want someone who does a good job with the artistic type photos without all the cheesy jumping in the sand, pose with every single relative type pictures that you usually get with somebody who isnt experienced or just shouldnt be doing photography for a living. .haha

Any recommendations would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Has anybody ever heard of police actually coming to break up the reception? Are they really strict on this?
We are doing the reception at the beachhouse we have rented and I am wondering if we need to plan for a hard 10pm stop or if we might be able to get away with a little longer . .
