White Room Weddings

Hi All,
I need some advice. I am getting married in June at the White Room in St. Augustine and I dont know where to have my cocktail hour. The loft upstairs is booked at the same time as my reception so that is not an option. Where have other White Room brides had their cocktail hour? AND if youve had it in the main room, how was it?

I have my first dress fitting tomorrow and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? I'm sure there will be some things I don't even think about to ask/address. My WP recommended I tell her that I don't want any of the dress left dragging on the floor after the bustle (because apparently that's something that they commonly do for appearance) so it doesn't get stepped on when I'm dancing but is there anything other than that I should be concerned about?

I am so nervous/excited, I couldn't sleep at all last night, so I might be bringing some tylenol pm to get me through the next few nights. I'm so excited. I got some big checks done this weekend. I found a dress for after the reception, a really nice RD shirt for FI, and a cute pair of blue panties to get embroidered wtih "Bride" for the wedding day. The best part is that I got all of this stuff for 40-50% off! Even better is that when I was out shopping for the dress yesterday I found the perfect ties for the groomsmen for $13.99 a piece (originally $38). They only had 3 at the Belk I was at but I managed to find 8 more at the two near me. I'm so glad to have gotten that taken care of. So FYI, if you're looking for ties, Belk has a ton of really nice ones on sale for $13.99 in a ton of different colors.

Gift for Shower Hostesses?

Any ideas for what to give your shower hostesses as a thank you? My bridal shower and our couples shower is just after Christmas, and I am at a loss for ideas.

Also, I just need to vent about how much I hate the new format of the boards. Maybe the problems are with it running on a mac, but it is awful. It's taken me multiple tries to be able to post this! Ugh.

FI and I would like to have a friend of the family marry us. However, he is not a Florida resident so he couldnt become a notary. I also just read something saying that if you are married by someone who is ordained through the Universal Life Church then there is a possibility your marriage may not be valid in Florida. So, any suggestions? Should we just hire an officiant and call it a day or do you have any ideas of what to do? TIA

Hey ladies. I'm super excited about today. A good friend of mine works at Macy's and gets a discount so I'm driving to Greenville to go shopping with her for wedding-related stuff. Plus it's friends and family weekend for employees so I should be getting a sweet discount. I'm really hoping to knock out some of the things I still have on my shopping list for the wedding such as ties for the groomsmen, an ivory cocktail dress (for if we decide to go out after the reception), some clothes for the honeymoon, etc. Anyone else taking advantage of the holiday season discounts to get some final wedding stuff?

Men's Warehouse Vent and?

We went to Men's Warehouse today to look at tuxes. The guy got all snippy with us because we didn't have an appt (they weren't busy). He tried to push a more expensive tux on us because he said it was going to be really hot in March (Umm...no). Just generally weren't very helpful at all. We told that we needed to think it over and we'd come back next weekend. He said he would put the information in the system but never got our names or anything.

They never showed us different tux jackets or anything. My FI never even got to try one on to see what looked better. Is this normal? I figured he would try different ones on to see which looked better.

I know I posted before asking for opinions on where to get engagement pictures done; I've now narrowed it down to two different choices. For those that don't know the places I'm talking about, click on the choice to see a picture.

1) The line-up of rusty trucks in Crawfordville: I like this idea because Caleb and I both like cars and he is a NASCAR mechanic.However, Caleb was wanting "nicer" looking pictures and I'm also wondering if we would be limited in the kinds of pictures we could take with the trucks.

2) Maclay Gardens:At first I was pretty much against the idea of having our pictures done at Maclay Gardens because many people do; Caleb's brother & sister-in-law had theirs out there too. Lately though that doesn't really bother me. I think there would be more that we could do at Maclay picture-wise. Also, it doesn't hurt that the park is very pretty and Caleb could have his "nicer" looking pictures.

I think I may have already made up my mind, but I've always been one that likes to hear the opinions of others.

I'll be in Saint Augustine 4 days before my wedding, so i'm afraid if I tan locally (Tampa) before I leave it will not be as dark as i'd like on the wedding day.

Hi everybody just writing some lines to let the stress out. I feel like i need my days to be longer, i still have some details to take care of, i have to print the escort cards, and fix the boxes with everything that will be taken to the hotel next week for decorations, Between work, wedding things and other matters, I don;t see how i'm going to make it. Besides, like 10 people (from NY ) will arrive at my 2 bedroom townhouse, YES I don;t know how i'm gonna make it work...but they know the space is limited and that they will have to sleep in air matresses in the floor, they don't mind. On Firday 11 I will have to make the bouquets, and get my nails done....
ANY TIPS WILL BE APPRECIATED!!!!

Me and FI are thinking about driving halfway to our HM destination (leaving on a cruise in Cape Canaveral) the night after the wedding.
