Hello ladies,

My husband and I are still on the hunt for a great venue that won't swallow our budget! We have been looking at the Addison, and we've seen quite a few knotties have good reviews about them! Could you all give me your honest opinion of the venue (I cannot be there to physically see it, we now live in Ga.), what they provide and a general price of holding a wedding and reception at their facility!

i was back and forth for a while about doing escort cards or an easel display. my wedding planners convinced me to do the cards with envelopes bc it is soooo much easier to make last minute changes (and ive heard there are always last minute cancellations or changes). just pull out the card w table number and swap it.

anyways, do any of you know where i can get the set of cards with envelopes at an affordable price? it can be local or online.

I was so stressed for a little while there while making drastic changes to my wedding at the last minute, but everything is falling into place.

First check - bought my wedding shoes!! Love them so much.

Second check - bought my daughter's junior BM shoes

Third check - All the guys have sent in their measurements for their suits

Fourth and most awesomest check - We got our license to marry! Oh my gosh, you have no idea! My hands were shaking so bad while signing it. It just makes it so real to me. Crazy I tell ya.

Does anyone have a list of the family combinations to include in must-take photos? Like, I don't plan on giving my photographer a list of stuff that says "bride putting veil on, bride dress getting zipped up, etc" as I think some of those things are a given. I'm more concerned about the family photos. Who takes pictures with who???

Photobooth scrapbook...

Someone had asked about this a few days back and I just responded, but I figure it is buried on here so I would post a new thread about it for anyone interested...

We had a GORGEOUS scrapbook for our photobooth - it was made by the photobooth company for us, with our photo printed on the cover and then on every few pages inside, with blank pages in between for guests to paste their pictures that they took.

Having said that, you can make a nearly identical one for about $30 if you have an Apple computer. (Or if you have a friend who has one)

You use the iPhoto program, import the pictures you want and then use the 'buy a book' option. We do it all the time with our family photos. Its easy and VERY fun.

For an 8.5 x 11 book with 20 pages I think it costs $29.00. You can add more pages if you want for a buck or so a page. It takes just a few minutes to lay out and they mail it to you in a week.

I HIGHLY recommend it!

Hello all -

I could really use some help in the PHOTOGRAPHY part of our August wedding. We have booked a photographer; however, I can't get over his price. It feels OUTRAGEOUS. I love what he has said. I am meeting with him in May; however, it is costing almost as much as the resort (Acqualina) ..... and almost as much as Kosher Catering. Is it part of our budget - honestly - it kicks us over what we wanted to spend.

His work (Steven Lawson) appears fabulous. And HE is the one who is doing the wedding.

How much have you paid for photography?

(no videography - just pictures)

What did your package include?

How much was the total when said and done?

Is $3100 outragous for all day (10 hours) plus all the proofs?

Can you make some recommendations?

They just sent me an email about a special, so if youre wanting a photobooth, call Scott at Fairy Tale Booth - its normally 1500 but until the end of march its only 700.

Its for four hours with an attendant, all materials and a scrapbook are included.

I dont know how far north or south they travel, theyre based in fort lauderdale - but you never know!

I had my very first makeup trial this past weekend for my e-shoot with Claudia from Claud's Makeup Corner. I decided to contact her after reading efont's review about her work. I'll be honest, I was nervous about booking a makeup trial on the day of my e-shoot because of the possibility of not liking the makeup at all. On the day of trial, I showed Claudia a few makeup ideas and explained to her what I wanted. Also, I had my first experience with fake individual lashes. When I got see the final product in the mirror I could not believe how beautiful yet natural I looked at the same time. She gave me a makeup look better than I could have asked for and the lashes looked natural and made my eyes pop (I have small eyes). My makeup felt so light, never caked up, and lasted the entire day until I washed my face at 3am! I received various compliments by FI (he loved it!), family, friends, my photographer, and from random people at the restaurant we had dinner. I'm pretty sure I'm going to book her for my wedding!

I can't wait to see our e-pics!!!

The Addison - lighting question and recs

Hello ladies....

I was wondering if anyone has gotten married or gone to a wedding at the Addison recently. I'm worried that the lighting they provide in the tree area is not enough for the ceremony and cocktail hour. What do you think?
My ceremony is at 7pm and cocktails from 7:30 to 8:30 so I'm worried it'll be too dark for the pics and for the people.....thoughts?

BLUE HEAVEN KEY WEST RECEPTION-DISASTER

IMy fiancee and I are having a 50 person wedding in Key West and had our reception booked at Blue Heaven months ago. We are ordering our invitations and so I had called to confirm our menu options, where I was then informed they may be CLOSED that day and may have to cancel. Joan, one of the event planners at Blue Heaven, said she would know more that afternoon and call me back.

I waited two days and never heard from Joan at Blue Heaven. I then had to call her to find out what was going on and she told me they were cancelling our reception. As it turns out, the owners were celebrating their 20th anniversary and were surprising the staff with a cruise. While that is lovely for the staff, what is NOT lovely is we are now 6 months out with no place for our reception. So, screw the people who already were booked I guess. Paying customers don't really matter to the owners of this establishment. I plan on letting the owners kindly know, these custoemrs, are the ones paying for this cruise to start with.

While we vacationed in Key West, we loved Blue Heaven; the food there and the ambiance were something we were really attracted to. We were so excited to be able to share this experience with our guests...Finding this out so close to our date is just crushing. What is even worse is the complete and utter lack in caring by the staff (of course, they are going on a cruise so why would they care?). Now we have another issue, finding somewhere to book for our guests. Our wedding date is a popular one, adn most of the places we've called are already booked!

I'm getting married next February and I'm looking for a local venue to do both the ceremony and reception. I'm not looking to spend much money, but I'd love to do the beach or something outside. I'm expecting about 75 people. Any ideas? Right now I'm loving Pelican Grande, but it's slightly out of my price range. I'd love to stay under 8K (the closer to 6, the better). All ideas are welcome!

If so, where are you getting yours from? Since we're having an outdoor ceremony and our ceremony will probably take about 45-60 minutes, we're thinking of providing some parasols for those who want some shade. I saw some parasols on the Oriental Trading company website, $30.50 for 12, and was wondering if there were any other cheaper deals out there. Thanks in advance! Only 23 more days and definitely feel like it's crunch time! :)

Inexpensive/On-A-Budget Venue

Hello Everyone!

This is my first time posting at the Knot and I truly need all the help I can get. I have looked around over 15 venues in Miami, where the wedding will take place, but everything is over our budget. I don't want to resort to a banquet hall style of wedding - so I am trying to stay away from that option. I fell IN LOVE with Cocoplum Women's Club, but it is too pricey for us. Also, the guest list is 160 ppl.

Are there any venues that you can recommend. I am into the historical venues - CocoPlum, Cocnut Grove Women's club (it is just too small), Douglas entrance...and we are trying to stay indoors, being that the wedding is on May 25th.

Also, if you know any great caterers that are inexpensive BUT GOOD, please let me know.

I've thought about getting one for the reception, but my mom and sister think that guests will be occupied enough between eating, dancing, speeches, etc and that it won't get used or be a waste of money. Ive only been to one wedding before so I don't really know how "the flow" of things works. For those of you who've had or attended a wedding that had a photo booth, what did you think? Any advice or suggestions??? I have to make this decision today

hey, so we are on a super tight budget so i never considered having a photobooth. but there is a groupon going on right now for a 4 hour photobooth for $350. which is an amazing deal! FI pointed out we can put that $350 so something we want to do on our honeymoon as well. but we are having a cocktail reception insdead of dinner and i feel a photobooth would give an added element of fun. thoughts? is it worth the extra little bit of money? or should we skip it?
