I've been researching and visiting venues for our 2012 wedding and haven't been able to find anything affordable that's still 'nice' even when looking at a Sunday in the off season. We are only expecting to invite 50-80 people, so spending $3K on just the venue is out of the question. Would also like to have both ceremony/reception in the same place. Any suggestions on unique venues that won't break the bank?

Looking for rustic, historic, or even a private home for rent near ATL. We are not very religious and our families are from different religious backgrounds so no church/temple. Most of our guests are from other cities so would like to keep 30-45 min from airport. Trying to stay away from hotel ballrooms since its not really "us" and my fiance stays in hotels for work (travels) more than he stays in our house.

I have checked out places like Emory (that seemed reasonable until you read the fine print where they have a $6K catering minimum even for parties my size), Trolley Barn (LOVED, but too $$), Vinewood, Serenbe, Solarium, Avondale Lakehouse, Flint Hill/Atrium, Callonwalde, Botanical Garden, DeKalb History Center, etc

Please help!!

Am I crazy for buying my dress now when I'm not getting married until June 2015? I'm going back tomorrow with my mom and sister but without any of my other girls (2 sisters) and 3 bridesmaids so I won't get the traditional bridal event of trying on dresses with my girls. What to do!?! Buy the dress or wait!?!

By the time I leave those things, I can't remember who I've given my number to or for what reason. A few months ago I got a call saying my FI and I had one an all expenses paid vacation (Score), and that all we had to do was go pick it up. So we figured what have we got to lose, so we hoped in the car and drove to Marietta, sat through a pots and pans demo...amazing magical $5000 pots and pans.

After about 3 hours they gave us a voucher for 3 days and 2 nights at a Viva Wyndam resort...I wanna know how legit this is and if its even worth our time.

Our wedding will be less than 100 (probably more like 70 or 80), and we are having a very hard time finding nice, small venues on the internet, so I thought I would post in some local communities to see if anyone knows any good local secrets. We are open to anywhere from Georgia to Ohio, and anywhere east of that (New England, Atlantic Coast). Please share if you have any ideas! Thank you!

Hi Everyone,
I am looking to plan our wedding for around 5k if possible. We do have some wiggle room, but not much.
We are absolutely set on an outdoor wedding, and the theme is like Enchanted Forest at this point. My fiance and I are both very much into the outdoors, i.e. hiking, backpacking, etc. So...it seems like a state park wedding might be pretty perfect for us, esp because we don't have $4500 to spend on JUST THE VENUE which seems to be the average price for some of these beautiful outdoor farmish/forest type places that we like. SO my question is: does anyone have experience with a park wedding in georgia??
How much does it usually cost? Can you have a reception there as well as ceremony? Is alcohol ever allowed? (we like to get down and have fun!)
Also, any ideas for CHEAP outdoor venues with a naturey foresty feel would be greatly appreciated (around metro Atlanta). So many places I look are either outrageous just to rent the place for the night, or require you to use their catering which is over priced and who knows if its any good. I think we could do up to may 2k for the reception and ceremony venue.
Sorry for the long post. Thank you brides!!! <3

I picked this vendor based on a review from the knot I
believe. And to say I’m disappointed would be an understatement. We used L.
Bryant for day of services. I had already done most of the work and just needed
someone to buffer any issues that may have come up from the vendors. Since I
was the one who did all of the work- I didn’t want people calling me to ask
where things should be placed the day of my wedding. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

She was not able to make the open house at the reception
venue, where we were supposed to talk layout and such things, but she informed
me of this possibility days in advance so I wasn’t overly upset about this.

For the rehearsal- she showed up almost 1 hour late! We were
doing the second walkthrough by the time she appeared. She called 5 minutes
before to say she was in traffic and would be 30 mins or so late. Her
"assistant" told the groomsman that she was not in traffic but with
her boyfriend.

The day of the wedding- she did show up to my house early
and provided some assistance, before leaving to supposedly go to the reception
hall to set up (escort cards, table numbers, etc.) That did not happen. She did
not show up to the reception hall until after guests had already begun to
arrive. The guests were confused and the reception hall ended up making the
decision to start the cocktail hour since time was running out. The limo bus
caught a flat tire with the wedding party in transport to the reception. By the
time she told me, my friends had already sent cars to pick up the wedding
party. When she did come to tell me about the limo (somewhere around 5:10pm-
5:25pm) she still had table numbers in her hand. Why were they not on the
tables? Some of the cards went on the wrong tables and I noticed on one of the
pictures that the table card was upside down.

I had a special condiment made to go along with dinner that
was supposed to be on the tables for dinner along with explanation cards. My
MOH had to ensure these were put on the tables during the cocktail hour. She
had to pull the coordinator away from listening to a private conversation I was
having in order to complete this task.

The most embarrassing thing is that guests were coming up to
me during the reception to tell me they didn’t know what her function was, that
she wasn’t doing a damn thing. During the reception!

My husband said that she basically got free money because
she didn’t do anything- and coming from him- it had to be bad. He is the easiest
going person there is.

The old adage is true- you get what you pay for. I was
trying to save some money. If you really want a coordinator- pay the extra
money or just do it yourself.

I am planning my sister's bridal shower and she wants to have it in Atlanta which is where she spent most of her single years. We are on a tight budget of about $800.00 for the entire shower with about 30 guests. Can anyone recommend a place that is inexpensive but still very cute. We are very flexible and open in terms of the venue. The shower is planned for April 2014.

Hello,
We are getting married next May at The Old Courthouse on the Square in Decatur, Georgia. We have hired the majority of our vendors but the entertainment/music has been the hardest part. I found one entertainer I liked but the price is way out of our budget. It has been a really hard process because we are picky when it comes to the band, although we love all genres of music. We do not like big band/party bands. We want a smaller band that is maybe 4 or so pieces with a great singer. Does anyone have any ideas for wedding bands that will play in Decatur, Georgia that more classic than party style?

Hi there, <?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Finally taking the time to review vendors - Hope it
helps!

****** DO NOT USE!!!!!!*****

Spectrum Entertainment were our vendors for the DJ and
Videographer. Great price and good up
front help, however, that was about all.

DJ: I didn’t talk to my DJ once before my wedding despite
numerous calls and emails from me to the company. These were not logistics I wanted
to be dealing with up until the day of the wedding. We also had passed the DJ a list of songs to
play and had downloaded and mailed him a list of special songs, and NONE of
these got played. Overall, people did
like the DJ, so I will give them that, but totally stressed me out and didn’t take
the time to be attentive to the extra details that mattered.

Videographer: The DVDs
we got were beautiful, however we only got about 3 minutes of dancing filmed. When we went back to ask for additional
footage (even if it was on a separate DVD, just so we could have), they said
there wasn’t any more. Which is
unfortunate bc our reception was FIVE HOURS long.

Overall a disappointment and the main stressor before the wedding
– even with the pros of the company, if I could do it again, I would definitely
have taken my business elsewhere.

******AMAZING VENDORS!!!!******

Venue: Crooked Pines Barn.
Staff was SO SO SO SO amazing. Couldn’t
have been happier working with them. Their
coordinator Amanda was amazing. They
helped us coordinate a million vendors and special requests. VERY reasonable - total steal compared to
some of the Reynolds properties and a BEAUTIFUL space. 5 of 5 stars, I would recommend to anyone!

Caterer: Cal Berry
was amazing. Great variety and selection
for food. He’s great at the details too, so he KNEW what to recommend to make
the space even more amazing that we could have envisioned. 5 of 5 stars.
Made sure the groom and I were taken care of all night – made sure we
ate, had drinks, fixed any little problems that came up. Amazing man.
