Hi board buddies! I hope everyone's wedding planning is going smoothly and to plan so far. I'm looking for recommendations for the savannah area for wedding photographers, make up/hair, and florists. My fiancé recently moved to savannah and I love it! Unfortunately I'm still in Athens, Ga until I graduate in May and I'm finding it really difficult to find local talent that doesn't cost a fortune. If anyone out there can recommend anyone I would really appreciate it. My fiancé is paying for the wedding so I'm not looking for anything to expensive and extravagant but honestly anything would be helpful at this point. Thank you so much! Savannah Reception Venues for 250-300- Need help!

My fiance and I are looking at getting married in Savannah as a "destination" wedding since he is from Seattle, and I am from Atlanta. We visited Savannah this weekend and both agree that it is a beautiful spot that our guests from ATL and Seattle would love to visit.

We are having a difficult time finding wedding venues that accomodate large numbers (250-300) that aren't extremely expensive. I thought we had a decent sized budget, but I had a planner tell me that we needed $80K at least to have a wedding of that size! :( I know she has to be wrong.

Any suggestions for places that can accomodate those numbers? We loveeee the Westin Harbor ballroom/lawn but are afraid that will be so expenisve by the time you have a full bar, etc. Also, any suggestions of places that allow you to bring your own alcohol and accomodate that many guests?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone of this board had any experience visiting or shopping at Bridal Mart of Savannah on Mall Blvd? I am from Savannah and will be going home tomorrow and was thinking of visiting there. Their reviews that I could find online are mixed. I am doing a very low key ceremony in Vegas next summer and would like a nice inexpensive dress but I am not sure DB has the dress for me so I want to look around.

My FI and I are getting married on Tybee in a few weeks, and having our brunch reception on Wilmington Island at his parents house. We have talked about not having a photographer, but Im a girl. I want one, just not an expensive one. We live in Clarksville,TN and there are places around here for like $100 a session..Id love to find one of those but Im trying to be real. Any help would be great!

Ideally I would like someone to come to my suite and do my hair and makeup, my 3 bridesmaids and mum.

I've finally began my search for wedding coordinators, and different places that have affordable wedding packages. I'm coming from out of state, but I've visited Savannah before and fell in love. I knew I had to have my wedding there. I've decided to go with a Tybee island beach wedding, because it holds a lot of memories. The wedding is only going to be 25-30 people (at very most) and we were thinking September 1st for the wedding date. I've checked out Coastal Savannah Weddings and was wondering if anyone had any opinions on them? I've got my reception place picked out, I'm going with Lady and Sons (commercialized, yes I know, but again I'm going with sentimental for my fiance and I, and we already know that everyone will love it lol) I'm trying to spend as little as possible since I've got a set budget at $5,000, but any we can put away to save or use for a honeymoon would be helpful. If anyone knows of any good places with wedding packages, I could really use the help. I'm open to all suggestions! Thank You!! :)

My Fiance and I have been living in Savannah for about 2yrs now, we moved down from Ohio for school and now that I'm graduating we've decided to stay! yay!

However- I've been so busy with school I havent been able to look around for venues and what I've found online I'm not crazy about. I'm not restricted by budget and guest count will be less than 100. I'm looking for a gorgeous venue that must have amazing food. The majority of my guests are out of town so I've been looking into places with accomendations or with a hotel near by. I've only looked online and I'm interested in the Jekyll Island Resort or Sea Palms Resort. I would loved some recommendations!

That or I'm considering having the wedding in Atlanta at either Chateau Elan or the new Ashton Gardens that will be finished in 2012. Any suggestions?

Small, simple Savannah wedding

Hello all!!
I am new to the Knot forum. I actually just found it today, and was pleasantly surprised that there was a section for Savannah. Yayy. My fiance and I decided to get married in Savannah because it is just an awesome place. We are thinking of having a small simple wedding outdoors.

Our ideas so far...
- 10 people (family and a couple friends)
- Outdoors- Forsyth Park, a square, or B&B garden
- Carriage ride to location
- No reception, dancing, etc etc
- Dinner at a local restaurant
- Carriage ride around town

Do I need a wedding planner with such a small ceremony?

Any tips, hair/makeup suggestions, floral suggestions, etc would be MUCH appreciated. :)

I'm getting married in June and would like to have my hair and makeup done to reduce stress on my wedding day, but I don't want to pay someone over 200 for something I could in theory do myself. I'd like to go to the salon and have it done for a little "me" time. Also, anyone know where to get bulk flowers inexpensively? I'm an out of town bride and because the wedding in Monday, I can't have them delivered from an online retailer because I won't be in Savannah till Sunday. I am doing bouquets for each table and would like to order roses, calalilies, hydrangeas, and ranunculas. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Are there any must sees? We really have no plan at all other than a maybe date of Oct 2012.

I want to see the Wedding Chapel, the Guard House (if we go with Tybee Island Weddings), Marlin Monroes, and 10 Downing. I really think 10 Downing would be perfect for us, but it's in Savannah and not on the beach. Being on a very tight budget is hard! We have $7000 and that is for everything... dresses, photos, our trip down there, etc

Outdoor Ceremony/ Reception Concerns and Recommendations

My fiance and I will be moving to Savannah soon and are planning on having our wedding there either in April/ May or October of 2012. I know that's a big difference but there is still a lot of things up in the air. I really want an outdoor wedding but I am worried about the weather being too hot and humid even in those months. Since I don't live there yet I don't really know what it can be like, any experiences to share?

Also, does anyone have any suggestions for locations? I plan to have 60-75 people attend, mostly just close friends and families. I know about the squares, which are a possibility for the ceremony but I really want an informal reception site where everyone can just mingle and relax, almost like a picnic. I am adamantly opposed to hotel style reception sites. Has anyone had or been to a wedding at 109 West. I think it looks awesome but I'm afraid it might be too small.

I'm looking for an inexpensive nail place to take my bridesmaids after the bridesmaid luncheon. Anyone ever been to Island Nails on Wilmington? We want to keep a mani/pedi combo under $40, which is hard to do in Savannah, so we were thinking of doing Island Nails, Pro Nails, or another nail place on Wilmington.
