Hello! My wedding is in Wailea at Gannon's this July and I am struggling what my groom and his men should wear. My dress is pretty fancy so I don't just want my fianc in linen pants and a white shirt but we don't want the guys to have to spend a ton of money for suits either. I like the idea of my fianc in a grayish type suit but only with the suit vest and a tie underneath. As for the groomsmen would it look tacky if they wore gray pants and a nice white button up shirt? I am thinking the gray would look best as my dress is ivory with champagne colors on the bodice. What have other ladies done for the men in their wedding parties? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I am getting married Friday 8-3-12, I plan on arriving on the island 8-1-12. Does this give me enough time. I'm starting to panic that this is really going to push it. I will arrive on the island at 7am on Wednesday, then drop dress off for pressing and head to the marriage license office, Costco, etc. What do you ladies think? My FMIL will be on the island a few days prior to me since she has to leave the day after the wedding so I will have her to scout things out for me and do some things prior to our arrival. Thanks!!

I know that this is an ongoing issue and you are probably sick and tired of hearing about it, but I just need to vent!!! And I want to be able to warn everyone and anyone about this wedding planner's antics because I don't want anyone to go through what I am going through!

This is a follow up RE: Wedding Planner Update post from last week...

So, after multiple follow-up emails on my part, here's how her responses panned out:

- Sunday: She said she received the refund check from Olowalu 8 days prior, which on my calendar shows that she received the check PRIOR to her sending me the email stating that our business was concluded (sent on Tues March 13), so...to me, that means she really tried to keep our REFUNDABLE deposit. She states she'd be sending me an updated invoice on Monday.

- Monday: no updated invoice

- Tuesday: no updated invoice

- Wednesday: no updated invoice

- Thursday: I follow-up stating she told me she'd send me an updated invoice on Monday, it is now Thursday. She responds and says due to the fact that they are SOOOO busy, she had to hire someone to handle her billing/accounting. Right...and that's my fault because...? However, she states, "I believe it (our refund check) was mailed today." Believe? She should KNOW.

I opened up the attached invoice to find that she has SHORTED us on our refund! She was supposed to be giving us back $1166, but instead she came up with $645! What the...?! I look at the itemized invoice and I see that she is charging us $2500 for her coordination fees.

This made me so angry I wanted to SCREAM!!!! She is the WORST! She can't even account for anything she has said in past emails, so that's why I tell everyone to KEEP ALL OF YOUR EMAILS!

I quickly reply and tell her that her invoice is incorrect, that we should be getting our full deposit back (it is fully refundable), and that she said we are paid in full on our coordination fee to her as per a previous email she sent.

I went ahead and (easily) searched for that email in Gmail (thank you, Google!) in order to HIGHLIGHT where she states we are paid in full and then forward that email over to her. I hope it's a good slap in the face and she rightfully gives us back the rest of our money!

I must say that she is the worst business person I have dealt with in MY ENTIRE LIFE. She has tainted my wedding planning experience and I am so ready to write a review on her because I believe that no bride, or anybody for that matter, should be subjected to this behavior and treatment!

So please, if you would like to know who this horrendous wedding planner is, do not hesitate to PM me! I will gladly tell you. And make sure you ready my previous posts on this message board about the other horrible things she has done and said. She is not worth the money nor the headache! Please watch out!

My mother is very concerned about being in Maui and not having anything to do. She is actually considering not going to the wedding and just helping with the AHR. I keep telling her that she can help FI and I plan and shop for the Welcome BBQ, put the bags and the flowers for the centerpieces together, but she thinks she will be tagging along. Believe me neither of us have a problem with her helping and coming with us and we have told her so. The kids will be taking part in water sports and sun worshiping and she is worried she will not having anything to do. I know there is a botanical garden but for those of you that have been to Maui do you have any other suggestions of things she might enjoy. We are going to drive to Hana one day but I need an activity to do with her one more day.

We have finalized the date finally! March 19, 2013 (which happens to be the anniversary of our first date) and Oahu!!! I'm so excited now! I feel as if a huge weight has been lifted and I swear the stress level is almost null and void.
I have already purchased the dress and it should be in within a couple of weeks.

Looking at wedding sites....love one that everyone here seems to not love...have actually talked with them and love the girl I spoke with....she just seemed to know me from the start.

Now to finalize the bridesmaids dresses and color....I am waiting for the girls to try on dresses in cobalt blue, tangerine orange, lemon yellow and island green before we decide. (I hear that I'm crazy for not just choosing the color then forcing bridesmaids to wear it but I just want them to feel beautiful and be happy) Guys are wearing tan linen shorts and shirts will be in color bridesmaids wear.

Hi All,
Just wondering if any of you have come across or have any recommendations on condos that our guests can stay at. We will probably need about 15-20 condo units. Most with families of 4 and up to 7. I was organizing accomodation at the Koolina Beach Villas since our wedding is close by, but fiance thinks we should look into getting condos in Waikiki instead because #1 there is more to do in Waikiki and #2 the prices are more reasonable than Koolina. I haven't been able to find a condo complex that has 2-3 bedrooms each and that will be able to keep most of our guests close together. I would preferably like to work with a property management rental company instead of going through each individual owner if possible. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I didn't want to include this in my wedding vendor review but this may help some people looking for housing the wedding party or wedding guests. I highly recommend using them if you are looking to coordinate groups.

OLA PROPERTIES --- A++++++

Debi@olaproperties.com

http://www.thekoteam.com/Honolulu_HI,_Ko_Olina,_KoOlina,_Kapolei,_Waikiki,_Ewa_Beach_listings/Rentals_-_Furnished_listings.shtml

So our wedding was in Lanikuhonua and we had about 90 guests. We had our welcome party at Paradise Cove Luau. We liked the idea of everyone staying a Ko Olina Beach Villas since it was walking distance but if you look at the KOBV website it was typically expensive so we were super glad to find Debi at Ola Properties.

They are a condo management company that manages rental from private owners (sorta like VRBO) and theu was able to offer us a better price and a group discount of the same exact condos! I was able to find Debi through one of my random internet searches. We booked 6 or 7 condos through her and stayed for a week.

Each condo had 3 bedrooms/3 bathrooms and had phenomenal views. I think someone opted for a 2 bedroom plus pull-out couch condo too to save a little money. Anyway, the condos were amazing. Every room was clean, large, spacious, had amazing views, all the amenities you could ask for. A lot of our guests who stayed at the condos kept complimenting our choice and kept saying that it was the nicest place they have ever stayed at. =)

We did have a few guests who stayed at hotels in Waikiki for a few days and then stayed at the condo the remainder of the week and were still raving. And we had a few guests who thought they would save money by staying in Waikiki but after adding up the "parking fee", and "additional person fee", and "hotel fee", etc. they paid about the same per room and their rooms weren't as nice. So I definitely recommend Ko Olina Beach Villas.

Now about Debi and Ola Properties... I couldn't be any happier with their service. They totally hooked us up.

We started the process about 10 months before the wedding. The good thing is we were able to lock in the current rates before prices went up. My husband and I didn't want to deal with collecting everyone's money, so when we booked the condo, we just worked out a deal with Ola properties where Rich & I would place a deposit, and the guests would pay for themselves.

Debi was available through email and phone calls to deal with our crazy families and a lot of questions. Think -- 3 rooms per condo x 6 condos! That's a lot of family to deal with.

Then, when we arrived they greeted us and showed us around the property and where everything was and how everything worked. They did that for all the guests that arrived =)

We had an issue with our post-wedding breakfast at a different location. The location we had originally chosen was no longer available. Debi heard about this and offered to host our breakfast at one of the club houses at a nearby property. She was able to accomodate all of our guests for breakfast and even took down a list of what we wanted her to pick-up for everyone. At the end, when we were trying to pay for the breakfast, her boss told her that it was his wedding present to us! We had about 60 mouths we fed. The extra food they donated to the VA.

They were absolutely amazing. They manage the properties they represent well. They are all about customer service.

If you are getting married, I recommend beach tower 901. They have this private entryway into the unit that sorta gives it more of a wow factor than the other wow units. Let me know if you guys have any questions. I posted my vendor reviews a few days ago so let me know if you have questions on those as well!

I can't seem to make up my mind on what's best for a rehearsal dinner event. We're planning on inviting everyone so expect around 50 people which includes children as well as the elderly. No one coming is infirm, though.

I really liked the idea of a sunset dinner cruise since it's really making the most of what Hawaii has to offer and is just really different. Also it seems more fun and private.
I am worried about guest getting seasick or the waters being very choppy, etc. When I looked at restaurants like Gannon's and 5 Palms they seem very beautiful as well. Expense-wise, these 2 options seem pretty similar, surprisingly enough.

If anyone also faced a similar dilemnia, it'll be great to hear what you ended up going with and why.

Thanks!

Hyuniee
