Beach Ceremony in Oahu - Recommendations

We despratly want to get married with sand under our toes and like Oahu. However I'm finding it very difficult to host a ceremony with chairs on the beach, do to state regulations. Does anyone have any recomondation for beach ceremony locations that would allow set-up. We're only expecting 20-30 guests, so large F&B minimums are out of the questions.

Has anyone had their ceremony/reception at the outrigger reef voyageur deck? My finance and I are booked to get married there, but I actually haven't seen the venue up close. We saw the pics online and the price seemed reasonable so we just went for it sight unseen. Any feedback?

Hey ladies!

How is everything going over here? We've gotten reassurance from our loan officer & processor that they can't see any reason that we wouldn't be able to close as scheduled on Friday. Hoorah!

Last night I made a few paper items for our AHR and I'm just waiting until we move to order them. I made song request cards and placecards/photoshare cards. On the back of the placecard is the info for photoshare (it's a folded business card). Other than that, we're pretty much ready to roll in terms of the wedding, just waiting for it to get here :)

How is everyone so far this week?

Hello all!

We're planning to marry November 2012 in Oahu and searching for a hall/banquet room close to Honolulu that will comfortably hold about 80-100 people for the reception.

We are limited to viewing websites right now, as we can't visit Oahu until the end of the year, so any suggestions prior to then are greatly appreciated. Like most, the goal is to get the most bang for our buck. :)

Do you guys know of any resorts in Hawaii (I don't care which island) that helps with all the wedding planning and has some good packages?

I'm sure you get this ALL the time, but FI and I were thinking of taking our honeymoon in hawaii. My question is, is there an island you guys suggest we pay more attention to or somewhere that is a must stay/see? Any imput would be appreciated!

BTW We're getting married next July but not thinking of taking our HM until Jan/Feb 2013.

Good morning! I've been MIA for a little while--life's been crazy! Last week was the absolutely worst work week of my life. I don't even want to add up all the hours but I worked 12-13 hour days a few times last week. It was so stressful and unnecessarily so. Ugh. Anyway. It's over :) We close on our house in four days! I'm so excited and a little scared. Not sure why I'm scared, but I am freaking out a little bit. I think I'm freaking out mostly because it doesn't feel like we are going to be ready. The owners still haven't finished moving out, the loan isn't ready, and I'm just so afraid that we won't close on Friday. But we have to! Keys for the apartment need to be handed in on Wednesday of next week. Yikes! Anyway, it's pretty obvious I'm freaking out. Sorry this was a jumbled mess. Miss you all and I hope you had a nice weekend :)

Anyone know anything about this club? for ceremony and reception with oceanview n no tourists. Im a newbie and super stressed. Got engaged in May and we weren't planning on having a wedding til march of 2013. Last month my mom had a stroke and is now recovering greatly but it made me realize I want to get married sooner. Life is short and I want her there. So we're planning it for March of 2012. We live in Texas but his parents live in Hawaii and that was one of the few places they found available.

I saw a few rec's for this place in Lahaina. Anyone have any pricing info and know the address? I looked on google maps and it doesn't seem to pull up the location based on the address yelp has.

I'm really only looking to get a basic mani/pedi (i.e. clean up the cuticles and put polish on). I think it's kind of ridiculous paying $90+ for that at the hotel spas..

Hi guys!! My fiance and I are having a problem deciding on where to have our destination wedding. We are currently looking into an all inclusive resort in Dominican republic or a wedding in Maui. I would looooove to get marry in Maui, but only have $10 000 budget to spend. Were expecting about 20 guests and would like our guests to be seated during the ceremony. Hi ladies!

I was wondering if anyone knows about having a reception at a vacation home. I am getting married at Gannon's, but am now debating on having the reception at a vacation home, catering and DJ there? Has anyone done this? I figure we would have the reception there and have the wedding party stay the night in the house. I'm not sure how much catering would cost because all the websites I looked at didn't give prices. I am hoping to find a nice vacation rental that is $2,000 a night or less and has a big back yard that could accomodate a DJ, catering and 20 people. I figure this will be much cheaper than the Olowalu Plantation house and could also accomodate people over night.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions or advice :)

I have contacted most used ones from knot boards such as Food for Soul (may be already booked) Cafe O Lei, and Aloha Catering so far and am finding for buffet style meal for 50 adults/10 children...the average seems to be around $80 per person..not incl rentals (table, chairs, etc) To me, this is still pretty pricey!! any other suggestions. thanks!

I am sorry to say I have called off our engagement. Too much drama to share but I have doubts and that is no way to start a marriage. I want to thank all of you and wish you luck on your planning and you big day. It's a little bittersweet as there is still a wedding to be planned in our household, just not mine. Hugs to all of you. Location: Mauna Lani Bay Resort and Bungalows - A+++, I got married August 4 at the Mauna Lani Bay Resort on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island. We had 20 people travel with us, all staying at the Mauna Lani Bay. I promise you, this was the most beautiful place on earth! I couldn't have been more pleased with the resort choice, especially since it was done blindly over the internet based on other people's recommendations from various online reviews.
While on the Big Island we visited a few other resorts including the Hilton Waikoloa which was a circus with kids running around everywhere with plenty of entertainment for the young ones and even adults but lacking much of the true Hawaiin beauty like a Disney World meets Las Vegas, the Marriott Waikoloa which a couple of our guests stayed at for 2 nights prior to our arrival and was nice and had an amazing luau but just didn't have as much Wow Factor as Mauna Lani, and the Fairmont Orchid which was very elegant but more formal than the Hawaiin hospitality found only at the Mauna Lani. There were plenty of complimentary treats including a welcome lei for all guests, daily newspapers, free parking, free snorkeling gear for the amazing bays (2 to be exact) found on the resort property, and other group activities.
Wedding Planner: Pinkie Crowe - A, coordinates weddings only at Mauna Lani
Caterer: Mauna Lani food services - A+, huge portions and best wedding food I ever tasted. We received compliments by each guest during the reception.
Cake: Mauna Lani - C, beautiful but not tasty. The only part of the entire wedding that was somewhat disappointing. The resort saved the top of the cake for us to take with us but due to heat it spoiled on the trip home and we weren't the least bit upset as it definitely wouldn't have been any better in 1 year. The hotel does have the option to upgrade the cake which I didn't even check into but would totally recommend for anyone else getting married there.
Photographer: David O Baldwin - A+++, AMAZING Photos but more than that had the best personality cracking jokes throughout the entire evening and making myself and all the other guests feel beautiful and like the most important, fun wedding he ever shot.
Florist: Ainahua Florals - A+, surpassed my expectations. Kelsi was able to put everything together I imagined after one phone conversation without specifications of flower types. She was able to take my fondness for florals used in a wedding sponsored by The Knot held earlier this year at the Mauna Lani and make it just as beautiful at my much lower budget. Every detail was perfect.
Officiant: Tom Fernandez - A, beautiful ceremony. He is even sending a copy of the vows via email for our keepsake.
Luau: Marriott Waikoloa as mentioned above - A+, much better than expected and a great value as we took all our guests rather than having a rehearsal dinner. We initially planned on going to "the best luau on the Big Island" at Kona Village but after the tsunami caused the close of the Kona Village the Marriott was the next most recommended. The reveal of the pig was very cool. The food was fantastic and I am picky. The open bar was a huge plus. All the entertainers were wonderful but the flame thrower at the end really took the show.
Circle Island Tour: Robert's Hawaii - B-, very informative, saw things we never would've seen otherwise, great visit to Volcano National Park including the lava flume which I felt was the best part, and numerous other stops. We took all our guests as a thank you for coming to Hawaii for our wedding and we all enjoyed the first 8 hours but after that we were exhausted and ready to get home as it was about 11 hours total with the last portion spent dropping off tourists at the other resorts.
Hawaii Forest and Trail hike: A+, best part of the trip after the wedding. Amazing adventure with great tour guide, Taj. Even enjoyed a swim in a waterfall at the end of the hike before getting back on the ATV.

Needless to say, we loved our choice in destination wedding at the Mauna Lani Bay Resort on the Big Island and would do it all over again. In fact we are already planning our trip back for our 1st Anniversary next August.

About 24 hours ago, we just got the keys to our first place together. It's a modest, simple 2 bedroom unit, but it's our first home together, and it's HOME. We're sleeping on a mattress on the floor, but we have lots of booze and internet, so I officially consider it home :)

What a crazy, harrowing lending process. For anyone else trying to get a home loan, I feel your pain. We had bank related drama EVERY SINGLE DAY for the last 2 weeks in the run up to close, and even missed close by a day, due to their errors. BLAH. I'm just glad it's behind us now!
