My friend Sameeha is AWESOME and she designed us a logo! It's going on the invites for our shower and it's life is good themed :)

I LOVE IT! It's so us and I'm so impressed by the theme for the shower (beach + life is good). It was supposed to be a surprise but when I told her that I was interested in seeing what she's done she sent it to me, and I have to say I'm pretty thrilled! It couldn't be more us! Again, she ROCKS!

So my bridesmaid & I made this over the weekend. Going to stake this at our wedding site on the path to the wedding. Sorry the photo isn't turned, but you get the idea :) FINALLY got around to DIY'ing something. Tested our place cards last night too & they're a snap :) SO HAPPY right now!

We're probably not going to have a first dance, but I'd love to surprise my hubby with a hula during our reception.

How did you learn your moves?

I know 3 dances that I learned on a cruise a few years ago... but they aren't what I had in mind.

I was thinking of buying a video. I found some possibilities, but wanted to know if any of you had any first-hand experience with any of the options out there. Thanks!

Sorry for the crap-tastic picture, but my FI is out training our dog how to hunt and this was as far out as my arm goes!! My niece is going to be our flower girl and I love, love, love her so I wanted to give her a special FG basket. I had no idea what I was doing cause I am soooo not creative, but I found this wooden basket at Target during easter, removed the easter crap from it and attached tons of crystals & fake orchids. Orchids turned out to be the running theme of our wedding so I thought this was pretty cute! I'm iffy about the how the ribbon looks so I may rip that off and replace but otherwise, what do you ladies think?

Okay, so I did a little updating, I love it even more now!

Chocolate Party Favors

Is anyone considering having chocolate as a favor for guests? I'm thinking about doing chocolate truffles for the guests at the reception (outside), but I'm concerned about them melting. I plan to have two per box, per guest. Just wondered if anyone's tried it, or thought about it. Not sure if it's a good idea. The reception is at Gannon's restaurant, and I think when they ship them they're packaged with an ice pack so I'm pretty sure they'll keep until we set them out.

Did you or are you going to try to find hotel group rate for your guests??

I realize that my guests will be speding a lot of money on airfare, hotel, etc to attend my wedding in Wailea. I want to help them save some money by looking for group rate for airfare and hotel.

I've been looking at hotel that provide shuttle service around town, that way .. my guests won't have to spend money on renting a car. Of course, hotel is more pricey than condo, but if we go with condo route, a lot of people will have to rent a car. With high gas price, it might just even out as staying at the hotel. Thoughts???

How did you handle your accommodations for your guests???

Shipping help needed

We shipped two boxes about 3 weeks ago from Los Angeles to Maui. they were suppose to arrive on the 28th of April but have yet to be delivered. we leave tomorrow morning. what should i do? is this typical? the have all the shoes (flip-flops), center pieces and OOT bags in the packages...i am not sure if this is an 'island time' kinda thing or if they are lost! HELP!

Question about final gown fitting

Is it too soon to have a final gown fitting scheduled 2 weeks before the travel date? My final fitting is scheduled for October 19th and travel date is November 3rd.

My first two fitting are about 2 months before. I'm wondering if I should move the final fitting date even closer to the travel date? My weight doesn't fluctuate at all ... since high school actually :D So .. should I worry about it?

I'm sitting at work, they messed up and thought this was my last work week and threw me the cutest luau themed work bridal shower but I actually still have a week left. I'm surrounded with lei's and flowers at my desk, I'm getting married in less than 2 weeks and flying out in even less than that....... I can't focus on anything!!

Seems how bridal thoughts are the only thoughts flooding through my head right now - entertain me PLEASE!! Post your wedding item you're most excited (or were most excited) about..... your garter, your dress, an accessory, cake topper.... whatever (I know, picking one is next to impossible)

Should I look for a new WC????

So .. I always thought that WC should be the one who gives you advices and at least show that she cares about your wedding. Lately, I start having doubt about my WC. We are still going back and forth about the proposal package. There are nice things about her .. like .. she lets us find our own photographer since we didn't like anyone that she picked for us ... and she's flexible. The only complaint I have is.. I feel like I constantly have to ask her for info and advice and do my own research on stuff like who can we have for officiant, make up artist, when should I start ordering food, who would take care of the decor, etc ... It makes me feel like I'm doing everything myself and all she does is to provide me list of vendors for me to choose from.
I guess I always imagine that WC would be the one who reminds me about things that I might have overlooked .. and check in on us once in awhile like she cares. But I also try to stay on a positive side .. that maybe my wedding is still 6 months away. That's why she's not doing much yet. Or is it because we haven't signed a contract since I keep missing what I want to add to the package. But I told her that we want her to be our WC since April.
So .. what is the real purpose of WC anyway??? Is her job is to just provide the vendors list and help set up the reception space .. then take the cut (15%)?
She usually gets back to me within a day or two .. now it's 3-4. Am I just worrying too much??? Or should I start looking for a new WC? How was your experience with your WC during wedding planning period?

Well ladies, we started out at 17 months from our engagement to our wedding (family schedules created the long wait) and we are now down to 2! 2 months from today I will be marrying the love of my life, it's really all very surreal the closer it gets!

And, my first dress fitting is today at 3!! I have been so nervous all day that I must have a billion butterflies in my stomach! I have all my jewelry and can't wait to see how it all looks together. If my Mom remembers to bring my camera I will post pics even though today is mainly pinning.

So excited!!!!

String Lights or Uplighting for dance floor? any pics you could share?

One month to go and I just realized there was no lighting for my dancefloor....

Wedding is outdoor (at Lani), dancefloor outside the tent, so I wanted to make sure we create sort of an ambience so people are encouraged to dance, instead of them seeing a wide open space.

So we are putting some high cocktail tables around the dancefloor and we're now deciding what lighting to use.

I'm doubt in between string lights over the dancefloor, or uplights, which my DJ recommended, but I'm not sure of how they'd look or which would look nicer.

If you had an outdoor wedding, what would you do or what did you do? Any pictures you could share of how your dancefloor looked would really help as well :-)

We are looking for a wedding videographer for 30 minutes church ceremony in Paia on the afternoon of April 28, 2012.

Nice DVD inside church wanted.

Student videographer welcome.

Just the basics. No fancy lighting.

Does anyone have a recommendation?

One Videographer wants to charge $300 for a 30 minutes DVD. That's $100 for every 10 minutes. What do you think?

Need help with this one.

Hello helpful ladies!

Wondering if anyone one here has or knows of anyone who has done there wedding at this location on a budget of $8k? (aka winter bride has already given me some awesome info!) Just seeing if I can get any other input before deciding on a venue!!

Plan to get cake, drinks, flowers at costco so mostly looking at food costs and WC costs as it looks as though we may have over 50 guests. (including all the children coming)

Also, this amount is leaving out a photographer b/c I am willing to spend $2k on this aspect!!

note- our wedding day falls on a sunday which adds another $500 to venue rental costs!

any tips greatly appreciated!

Does anyone know what package would be more beneficial for a small wedding about 15-20 people? im having a hard time deciding between these two pacakages and my budget is $10,000. I dont know if its worth holding a small cocktail type reception, buffet, or simply going to a restaurant for the reception. Also I want to know if anyone has ever stayed at either of these hotels and if there's any recommendations as far as holding weddings here, and the amenities they offer there. What are some destination brides advice as far as planning? oh and we're looking into picking October 21 or 22, 2011 as our wedding dates so im on a time crunch here! please i need advice!

Ceremony before Old Lahaina Luau

I'm new to the board and would like some of your expert advice :) FI and I are getting married on November 10th, 2011 and that night, we will be going to the Old Lahaia Luau in lieu of a reception. I would like to have the ceremony somewhere relatively close to Lahaina so that our guests do not have to travel too far between locations. Any suggestions on where we could hold the ceremony?!

4th of July Wedding

I am planning on getting married in Makena Cove, Maui and was thinking of doing it on 4th of July. It is just us two so we thought it might be fun to partake of the 4th of July activities in Maui during the day and then going to a luau that night. Since we are doing a short photoshoot after the morning wedding, I thought we could get really cute pictures on that day. Plus, we got engaged on Halloween so I thought it would be cute to get married on another holiday. What do you think? Does it sound like a good idea or one that can backfire?

Realistic Costs & Budget

Silly me for thinking that a DW would be the cheap route...I guess if you sacrifice a lot of things it can be quite afordable but for simple things it's really starting to add up. What is your ballpark final cost? We would love to save as much money as possible but I know that you get what you pay for. If you aren't comfy sharing your cost then please give me an idea or even a REALISTIC idea of what this would cost...
