Last year (late 2009) for our anniversary FI got me a motor scooter. I had said that I wanted a motorcycle so he thought this would be a relatively inexpensive way for me to test it out and see if I liked it and if I was really serious about the idea. Well it turns out, I rarely ever rode it. It can't get above 35 mph and my job is pretty far and needs me to take highways. So I can't drive it to commute and I don't have any short trips that it's practical to use it for since it doesn't have much storage. I love the scooter, and when we do ride it together it's lots of fun, but it just doesn't make sense for me to have. We just spent $300 to have it stored over the winter and I only rode it 6 times last year.

So-- I have a friend who is going to buy it for $750, and she also said I can borrow it and ride it whenever I want. FI is A-OK with me selling it, his only stipulation is that I need to spend the money on something for myself! I just don't know what!

So we went to visit 3 venues yesterday. FI really wants a resort wedding... Plus this resort has a sand area not considered a part of 'Hawaii public beach' so we can get married in the sand with the arch and guests can sit in chairs, etc facing the ocean. We originally thought you couldn't set up arches and chairs on any sand property so we decided ocean front would be okay.
Well looking outside the resorts... I found private places (lanikuhonua Kualoa, sunset ranch) where you can figure out every aspect of your wedding... And I got excited!!
So now that fiancé found out we can get married in the sand and still have our aisle and 60 guests sitting comfortably he absolutely loves the idea of a resort wedding.
How did you choose between a private venue vs a resort??!! I like the privacy of the private venues... no shirtless old men walking next to you in your wedding dress.. Or a resort... Convenience for your guests.

FI's best friend works at a local concert venue as the lighting director and he got us on the guest list for the Boyz II Men concert last night and it was INCREDIBLE! They are SO amazing even 20 years after their first album. The harmonies were dead on, their voices were flawless and they really knew how to make the crowd get into the show.

And now Motownphilly won't leave my head... and I've got no problem with that :)

Hello ladies!

I'm just under 7 months out -squee!- and I have a question about the dress. My best friend is making my dress and I have full confidence in her abilities, I do however not have full confidence in her timeliness. She claims that she can start and finish it in the month of June, and that's great... but if she doesn't that is a little too close to comfort for the deadline for me.

When should be the cut off time for me to buy a back-up dress?

Hi everyone,

So although I wish I was getting married in Hawaii, unfortunately a destination wedding wasn't a possibility so I'm doing a Hawaiian themed wedding here in New England. I'm looking for some suggestions on table names for the reception that would be Hawaiian inspired/themed. I know the usual island names is common, but that only works for 7 tables, and I'm going to have 15 guest tables.

Any ideas? I thought about names of beaches, but I worry that guests will get confused if there are 3 beaches that start with a W, and 3 that start with a K, etc....I may know there is a distinct difference, but for someone just trying to find their seat, it could be an issue.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hey girls,

Need some advice from girls who had tent receptions or been to a wedding with a tent reception. We will be having a 30x30 tent and will probably book through Accel Rentals. I've talked to 2 wonderful ladies there and they both have said that a 30" japanese lantern (60 watt) bulb will be sufficient for functional lighting. If that's true, then great, but as I look up at my 60 watt bulb on my ceiling fan...I don't see how 1 bulb will be enough to light up a 30'x30' tent (900 sq feet).

Help please!! :)
