Saturday was my hair trial and first fitting. My trial went okay, some things I think I want to change but I've been seeing the girl for years so I trust her to do what I want. Here are some pics (I wanted a low side bun)

thoughts?? she's going to move the "bun" lower so it's more visable from the front and my hair clip will be more behind my ear as well.

my dress fitting was amazing. it was only the 2nd time I put my actual dress on and the steamstress was so nice! I don't need anything taken in or out, just the bustle done and the belt will be attached to the dress. Very happy about that!

Hey girls, have any of you been to a wedding at the barn of arabian knights? In Willow Brook? Im gonna go check it out and i talked to the guy in charge of the rentels and he told me that they can fit any budget and the place is pretty sweet looking. If you have been there, what did you think about it?

Hello all,

Does anyone have good florist reccommendations? I'm not looking for too much, here's the list of what I'd need from my florist. I am on a budget of about $75 for flowers: is this even feasable? We are also doing a January wedding.

3 bridesmaids boquets (each gets about 3-5 stems of their favorite flowers - orchids, lilies, daffodils)

3 groomsmen boutonieres (sp?) - the boys may even opt for the pocket squares, it's up to the fiance

1 groom boutoniere

2 MoB and MoG nosegay boquets instead of corsages

1 toss boquet

I'm making my own brooch/silk (or real) boquet so I'm grabbing mine wholesale and assembling it.

Our centerpieces are all non-floral as are our ceremony decorations

Thanks for any input, it's a huge help b/c I live in WI and can't pop down as often as I like

Hi,

My FI's parents got divorced almost 2 years ago after 33 years of marriage so the divorce is still fresh in their minds. His parents can't sit next to each other. We are doing one big table at the rehearsal dinner. He wanted me to post who usually sits next to us at the rehearsal dinner? Obviously my FI and I sit next to each other but who sits on the other side of each of us? Is it the best man and maid of honor? Then do the parents usually all sit next to each other?

Wedding Items for Sale

Hey gals! I am a former Knottie who has now moved over to the Nest/Bump site. Now that we are getting ready for our new little one, I really need the space and would like to sell some of my wedding supplies that I still have.

Looking to sell the following items:

12 - 12 inch X 12 inch mirrors - $5 each = $60
12 - Large rectangle vases - $10 each = $120
24 - Small rectangle vases - $5 each = $120
60 - Votive candle holders - $1 each = $60
Clear river rocks to fit in all vases. - $5 per set = $60
Large bag of dark purple, light purple and white flower petals = $15

I purchased these items to make centerpieces and spent well over $800 for all the supplies. Asking $400 for entire set.

If I can sell as a set, I will through in all extra vases and champagne bubbles I have for free!

FI got the call today. We didn't get the house :(

I realize that most people don't get the first house they look at/put a bid on, and shame on me for getting my hopes up... but when the realtor said Wednesday "it's a good sign you haven't heard yet", I got excited.

Oh well.

So we're back searching. Thus far, everything else we've found online that we like [looking at realtor.com] is a shortsale or is already contingent/sale pending. Bummer.

Feeling very disheartened at the moment. (Though, this news came on top of my university royally effing up my summer registration AND finding out that FI accidentally threw away one of my favorite necklaces without realizing it... the one he bought me for Valentine's Day - a manufactured ruby & diamond heart pendant.) *sigh*

Venue Issues, Need Help ASAP

Currently my venue has lost it's management. 8 people my family knows walked out in disgust over the food, staff, everything. My mother knew there was a chance the long time manager (25 years), who kept the place together, would walk out early. Well, he did. I was never ok with the venue in the first place, mainly due to his potentially departure. What sold me was the gorgeous setting and river. Since my mother is paying for that part, I had to go along with her plan. Now this happens. Fate, I swear.

My wedding is October 1st, or would be. Having it in the fall is a BIG deal, as well as it being in a beautiful, outdoor setting.

I believe I'm screwed, unless one of you has an idea.

175-185 people on the GL.

HAS to be in a gorgeous area with beautiful places for pictures and fall colors. I'm very into the rustic, antique, farm style. OR has to be near a gorgeous area. I absolutely love A New Leaf. Shame it's so small.

My bridesmaids are wearing a rich, pumpkin color. Groom and the men are wearing chocolate tux's.

Needs to be within 4 hours of Chicago. I don't care what state.

$23,000 is the original budget for everything. Most of it being spent on the venue/food/booze.

Help? TIA.

Hello friends,

I am attempting to keep my wedding budget under $5000. So far I have some of the expenses covered: Cake (bridesmaid owns a bakery), photography (Mom is a professional photographer and is trading with another photographer), and dress (bought a used one for $200... now I just need to lose 10 lbs so I can breathe in it....).

I am having a hard time finding good prices on food and venue and rentals. It is going to be on the casual side, so hopefully that will help me save money as well.

Any suggestions? I am in the NW suburbs (Schamburg area, with most family further west).

Wedding date is tentatively June 2012. We want a summer wedding, but don't think we can pull everything together by August 2011.

I am looking for some great recommendations for soul food for our wedding. My fiance is Puerto Rican and I am Puerto Rican/Black, so we wanted to incorporate both of our cultures into the food for the reception. We have the Puerto Rican food, we are ordering from La Palma!!! YUMMY :)

Does anyone have any suggestions on Soul Food Caterers who are not expensive that will deliver to our venue on the North Side? We only want some foods and not all as we don't want to have too much food at the reception.

I'm new here... I'm hoping to find some insight as to where to go dress shopping. I'm a true plus size-- 22/24 in jeans, 18/20 tops. I know David's Bridal stocks plus size bridal gowns to try on, but I know that, depending on the store, they are hit or miss.

Is there anyone out there familiar with any local shops that carry a decent selection of plus size dresses to try on? I'm located near Carol Stream, IL, but I'm willing to travel one hour or more to KNOW I can try on some dresses and not feel like a total loser looking for a dress=P

Getting my dress steamed...where?

I bought my dress from David's bridal, but am having a seamstress put a custom belt on the dress. David's told me once someone else alters the dress they won't touch it! Now I don't know where to go to have it steamed/pressed before the wedding??? I've got five months, but would like to avoid going to a dry cleaners, I've heard horror stories! I live in the city, but am also open to bringing it somewhere in the northwest burbs. Ideas/recommendations??? :)

Hello Ladies,

Just got married about 5 weeks ago. I had 2 baby nieces in my wedding party as flower girls...and had them pushed down the aisle in this beautiful wicker white antique baby carriage.(got tons of compliments on it!) Its a renovated antique carriage, very roomy inside, enough space to fit 2 babies. I had floral vines on it as well to dress it up. I hate to give it up, because its so darn cute and would keep it for my future daughter or something, but I don't have the space for it. I'm selling it for $250, pick up only. Its in Naperville, IL.
