Chicago-style food catering?

Hi! Fiance and I want a Chicago-themed reception complete with chicago style food (italian beef, hot dogs, etc). I know there are tons of place that we can order this from but does anyone know of any caterers who actually cater this type of food? Or are there any suggestions on how to set this up to look presentable? I appreciate your help! Thanks :)

Did anyone buy wedding insurance? It is obviously an extra expense but if something were to happen I suppose it could really end up saving you money or providing you the ability to recreate your wedding.. Any thoughts?

After-party ideas

I'm getting married at a hotel downtown. Most of my friends and family live out of town, so are flying in for the wedding. Many I have not seen in ages. I know I won't get to spend the time I would like with everyone that evening. I thought an after-party would be a great way to spend time with some of my close out-of-towners friends and family that choose to stay up. Does anyone have any suggestions of a good place in the downtown area for an after-party?

So, I am in love with the Patrick C. Haley Mansion and have an appointment to go there Saturday. The major down side is the guest minimum for a Friday. The minimum is 175 and we only have about 135 on our list. Does anyone know if they are willing to negotiate with the guest minimum?!?!?! Please say yes!

So FI and I work in the same office. There have been a ton of packages coming to us - shower gifts and things we are ordering for the wedding.

So today a package arrives in his name and our office admin put it on my desk thinking it was yet another wedding thing I ordered. I open it and see the word pearls on the packing slip....freaked out and closed it right away. I tried to cover it up and make it look like I didn't open it, but he totally noticed and knew I did.

So I ruined my wedding gift!

I am looking for a location that will allow me to bring in my own caterer. I'm looking in the Tinley Park/Orland Park area or even father west/north. Orland Park Civic Center is on my list to see but I am looking for more ideas. Anyone know a venue that allows this to happen? I can't go too far north of 88 but Oakbrook would be workable also.

We really wanted to do a postcard at each setting with a photo of a Chicago location important to us. I take photos as a hobby and thought it would be a fun day to go around to all our sites and take photos. FMIL is worried that people are used to seeing a big name on some type of stand.

We were going to do a map of the room near the door so people would have a good idea of which table they need to go to. With that in mind, would the postcards throw people off? I'm really questioning myself now and worried I should go back to my original idea of framing the photos.

Hello!

I am getting married in Chicago, but I am from Florida and my family still lives there so I am having a bridal shower in my hometown with my mother, sisters and friends. I'm thinking about also having one up here in Chicago so that my FMIL and our friends can attend. The shower in Florida will be a more traditional women-only shower, but I'm thinking if we have up here we would invite couples and make it a more casual get-together (think summer bbq) rather than cutesy shower.

Do you think it's worth the extra effort to also have a shower up here (we would most likely host)? Or is having two showers just seem stupid?

Hi Ladies, My parents/sister (MOH) are throwing us an engagement party. I am inviting all my bridesmaids (5 of them), and all of them have boyfriends. Most of my bridesmaids know eachother, but their boyfriends probably won't know anyone. Is it proper etiquette to allow the BM to bring boyfriends?
