We are going to be getting married in August and my FI is pagan and I am athiest. We are planning on having a pagan handfasting ceremony but we cant find a high priestess to carry out the wedding....anybody know anyone around the Muncie/Anderson area?

Two months to go...and reception hall closed their doors

I don't post much anymore since I've had my wedding planned for months, but I really needed to get out my frustration, and warn other Fort Wayne brides.

Wow, what a crazy day! My wedding is May 22, and I found out my reception hall, The Landmark, has filed for bankruptcy and has closed their doors. They took off with my deposit, as well as many others'. I just sent out my invitations last week, so now once I find a new caterer, I will have to notify my guests. I feel really sorry for the two couples getting married this weekend that are now being told they need to find something else. I'm left trying to scramble to find a new place, and only a couple places lare available that can accomodate my guests and our outside cake vendor.

I just found all this out today through word of mouth, they did not even have the decency to notify me of this situation. Hopefully I will have better news this Saturday when I go for round two of finding a new caterer...

Wish I had better news, will have to keep all of you updated. Knottie vibes and prayers would be greatly appreciated!

DJ's in Fort Wayne - Noise Pollution?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this DJ? He is a Mason and so is my fiance, but I wanted some feedback before I call him.

I should get on here and post more - we are on a super tight budget (my company was just acquired and my pay was cut) (family can't or isn't helping) and I'm so torn on whether to try to have a ceremony/reception in town at the Shrine ballroom (our cheapest option), have a Vegas wedding, have a destination wedding, or just go to the courthouse then have a nice honeymoon. I'm trying the impossible - a $1000-2000 budget and this is NOT easy so if anyone has any tips I would love them. So far, the DJ is the first thing to come in WAYYYY over what I've budgeted for it. I haven't even picked a date yet because it is so contingent on what I end up going with.

Advice appreciated. :)

Alterations in Indianapolis!

Long story short, my alterations plans fell through, and I need to find someone to do them... for my wedding in a month! LUCKILY my dress fits almost perfectly already and is corseted (gives a little extra give-n-take for sizing) but I need to find a good person to go to.

Someone was recommended in Castleton I believe? I don't want to drive outside of Indianapolis, specifically close to my home & work (BR & Dwntwn)

Rehearsal Dinner in BR or Dwntwn

So I'm having rehearsal dinner planning blues! We had wanted to have it at the Slippery Noodle Inn- most of our RD guests are out of town and will be staying at the Omni. We thought this was a GREAT idea... walking distance, friends from OOT who aren't in the RD group could meet us there and enjoy some music after. WELL they don't allow in people under 21. If the smoking ban passes they will start allowing people under 21 in (not sure how that works) but he told me absolutely no for anyone under 21 at this point. FI was looking more into Broad Ripple himself though. He said Bazbeaux but they don't do private parties or reservations. Our fave mexican place, Cancun, is on Keystone and they said they do it- but no private room- just call the night before. He said they've done up to 100 so 20-30 shouldn't be bad- then we could pick a bar in BR and have friends meet us there. But- it's not walking distance of the Omni which complicates things for our OOT guests. Any other suggestions in those areas? Informal & inexpensive is the way we're doing it.

I'm having an outdoor wedding on October 3rd at 2 in the afternoon...I already have a bridesmaid complaining that its going to be too cold. Since living in Indiana my whole life has apparently not helped me to know our climate, can anyone refresh my memory on how warm/cold it is at the beginning of October? I didn't think that it would be too chilly since it's very beginning of fall and early in the day...I dunno...some help would be appreciated :-)

So I am thinking of having my ceremony at Oakridge. There is a certain path that I fell in love with a summer or two ago. It's a long, pretty straight path that leads out to an open field which (lucky for me) has a small lake on the other side of it. I have so many ideas running through my head - like hanging black and whites of the FI and I from the trees so as our guests walk down they can look. I am just worried because it's quite a long path, but it's well worth it.

Anyways, has anyone else had their ceremony there? I don't even know if it's "rentable". I have the phone number for Lake County Parks and I am going to call after work today. I am wondering if anyone has, how it went for them? Any tips for an outdoor wedding?

Venues for a Budget in Indianapolis

Hey Everyone-

I need help! I'm trying to find a venue that can accomodate 200-250 people. The issue is is that I have a budget of $10,000 for my whole wedding. The only venues in the Indianapolis area that I can find that can fit 200 to 250 people are $10,000 for just the venue and catering.

Any ideas?

Rehearsal Runaround...

We are getting married in the chapel on our college campus… the original plan was to have the rehearsal the Friday night before the wedding followed by dinner at my fiancé’s parents house. Unfortunately, the college has an event in the chapel from 6:30 to 7:30 on Friday night and we cannot have access to the chapel until 7:30. The in-laws live 20 minutes from campus. So having the rehearsal first puts dinner rather late. And having the rehearsal earlier is not possible because everyone will be coming from out of town and have to work. I’ve gone around and around in circles trying to come up with the best solution… We need to have the rehearsal at the actual location the wedding will be…. I need suggestions!! Is it okay to have dinner first and then the rehearsal after? We don’t want to keep our guests out late either…and the later it gets the less likely my flower girl and ring bearer will function well. I was thinking maybe having the dinner begin around 6:00 and then travel to campus to have the rehearsal after dinner. Another option would be to have dinner at a restaurant closer to campus, but there aren’t very many options. It’s a small town. And to top it off, I’ll need some time at some point to decorate the chapel…

Hi Ladies!!! I am getting married on July 24, 2010 in Valpo. My fiance and I are living in Austin, Texas and have been planning this wedding, long distance, for over a year. Our reception will be at Turkey Creek Golf Course and I am starting to put together our centerpieces...
