Does any one know of any party buses or limos in western iowa? We have only been able to find some out of Omaha or Des Moines and will charge us an extra couple hundred bucks in travel fees......

Yes! The honeymoon is booked!
We are headed to Dreams Puerto Vallarta! It looks gorgeous! We got a great discount on the American Airlines website. I heard about this sale they have right now on the honeymoon board. It saved us about $300!!
Now to my knot checklist to mark that one as complete!

I posted this on wedding classifieds, but I would prefer to sell this dress closer to my home. If anyone is interested, I am selling this dress. I only wore it the day I tried it on. It has been in it's dress bad since. We changed our venue and now my dress doesn't flow with the new style of our wedding. It is a size 8 and has never been altered. Groom's Cake

I get a question for you girls. Before living here I haven't heard of the groom's cake and ordering this was not in my plans. But my stepdaughter spent a lot of time doing a pretty ceramic plate with Iowa state format (FI home state) and with two models of me and FI dressed as bride and groom and holding hands, everything in our wedding colors. It is so nice of her and so pretty that I wanted to add to the wedding looks and FI came up with this idea. So, when and where we are supposed to serve this cake? At the rehearsal dinner or at the wedding reception? I'd love to have it at the rehearsal dinner because we will have a lot of desserts at the wedding dinner. Please, give me your suggestions!!!

Bachelorette Party

My bachelorette party is the weekend in Des Moines. We are staying at the Drury Inn and having some drinks there to start. Then we are going to eat at Wellman's and then to the bars in the West Glen area. Any suugestions of what bars to go to???? I am not opposed to leaving the West Glen area, but there are going to be around 20 girls so that may be more of a hassle. Please let me know any input as most of us do not live in the area and are not sure which would be the good bars to go to.

Hi everyone! I will try to make this short, but I need to vent:

FI and I have big families. Our reception venue can accommodate 250 people. We have been working on the guest list for MONTHS, but it's still an issue.

FI parents want to invite literally everyone from their town to our wedding.

I explained to them that we will divide our list into 3 lists of 90. To be fair: 90 for them, 90 for my parents, and 90 for my fiance and me. Yes, that equals 270, but we're completely comfortable inviting over by 20 people.

HOWEVER, his parents do not think this is fair. They are worried about people being offended about not getting an invite to our wedding, since they invited 200 people to FI brother's wedding. They cannot narrow their list down to 90 people.

One of our friends over-invited by 50 people and had the same mentality (there will be a lot of people that are unable to come), and they had to UN-INVITE 15 people. H*LL NO.

I am not being ignorant or naiive; I realize that we will have a number of people that will be unable to attend. But, the principle is we want to be FAIR to all of our parents. The people they want to invite are people we've never even met (their college friends, old coworkers, etc). This has been my only bridezilla moment thusfar, and I don't know how to handle it.

I'm looking for a great and inexpensive florist, in Des Moines/West Des Moines? Anybody have ideas?
I've contacted Something Chic Floral and the Mills Civic HyVee and they are both in the $500s. I consider it the basics - bouquets for me and 4 bridesmaids, toss bouquet, boutonnieres for groom, 4 groomsmen, 2 dads and 2 ushers, 1 ringbearer, 2 mom's corsages, 1 grandma corsage, and petals for flower girl. Ok, so maybe that was a lot of things, but just the ceremony basics, no big centerpieces or arrangements.
I was really hoping to spend more like $300-400. Is that not very realistic? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

HUGE RELIEF!!! We had champagne taste with a beer budget and simply couldn't pick a caterer!!! We loved Hickory Park's prices but didn't like the idea of having sandwiches at our wedding. It isn't going to be fancy, but we wanted something a little more :)

With that said, we decided on their Sunday Dinner which includes Smoked Ham with pineapple sauce and Smoked Turkey with cranberry sauce!!! $7.50pp and an amazing yummy caterer!!!

FI and I are planning on living where he is from after the wedding, around Okoboji. I am looking for a marketing internship in that area this summer, and was wondering if any of you know any places that are looking for one, or any suggestions?
