My fiance and I are hoping to have our reception in my family's horse barn and I am trying to come up with some sort of an idea on how to cover the current flooring. It is a horse arena and so it has sand flooring in it. We can remove the sand pre-wedding but I still want to find something to cover the dirt so it is clean..It's an 80x120 area so it will have to be something that can cover a large amount as well..Any and all ideas are appreciated!! Thanks :)

DO NOT USE THIS VENUE.

We got engaged Nov 2010. My mom called this venue in December to try to schedule a visit for our June 2012 wedding (we wanted June 16th). The owner said "Oh you've got PLENTY of time, just call me back in a few months". So my mom calls her back in Feb and the owner says "Oh I already have a wedding booked that weekend." Shouldn't the owner have called us when other interest was expressed for that day, when we already expressed our interest and SHE told us to wait??

So we moved our wedding up. She has been completely rude ever since.

My dad has worked in the beer industry for 15+ years. When we originally booked she told us kegs were $200 each. She has a license so you have to buy through her and she can charge WHATEVER she wants. We went in to pay our final payment and she said "Oh kegs went up to $250. You're in the business so I'm sure you know how that goes"and my dad said "Kegs went up $4 last month and thats it" But she can charge whatever she wants and we have no choice. She charges $3 a bottle for bottled beer and only stocks certain kinds. When we asked her if she would stock Blue Moon for our wedding she said we would have to prepay for it (understandable). So my dad said "Okay a case is around $20 so how much would you want us to prepay" her respone... "$3 a bottle" So we 86'd that idea. Not paying $75 a case of beer. IF she had any business sense she would buy the case for $20, charge us $30, and still charge our guests $3 a bottle. She would double her money. But instead she's getting nothing.

Prices of the doorman were not included in the contract ($115)
Price of one bartender was included, but we apparently need two ($30/hr for 6 hours)
You also have to pay a $200 clean up deposit in case something gets broken during clean up. Well we are paying them an additional $250 so we DONT have to clean up. They are doing the clean up. So my mom said "so if something gets broken during the clean that we are paying you to do, I just have to take your word for it and pay for it?" and the owners response was "yes, you'll just have to trust me" SERIOUSLY?! Trust you when your word as been SH*T this entire process? You changed our date, raised your prices, and cop an attitude every time we talk.

Long story short, had I known this lady was not the least bit pleasurable to work with I would've paid more money to have my wedding elsewhere and had the PLEASURE of working with someone nicer.

I had a trial with MAC yesterday and I hated it, it was way too much makeup and the foundation made me look pale and fake. I'm getting it done in Wichita, Kansas..and Wichitans out there? I'm thinking we will have anywhere from 50-75 ppl who actually show up its mostly family and a few friends. also thinking center pieces with floating candles and a few flower petals. It will be an outside wedding and we will all be wearing boots im thinking mason jars for cups and a dessert themed reception. It will be a DIY wedding and we are on a budget. I'm Thinking 4000-5000 im not sure mom hasn't said exactually. I think im going to wear her dress will just need to get it sized and changed alittle bit. Any ideas towdards venders would be awesome. I'm looking into a place by mulvane but if we dont go there i will just ask my grandparents if we can do it at there place they have tons of land and its beautiful.

So, once again, I'm here for advice.
I feel like I'm going crazy with all these questions.

I originally booked a videographer after meeting at a bridal show and seeing their work. I liked that they had a flexible payment plan, so I put down $300 to hold my spot.

In the meantime, I found a photographer that I liked that also does videography. They are amazing... significantly better that this videographer. Also, after looking at more of videographer #1's work, I started to change my mind some. It wasn't as professional looking as videographer #2 and in speaking to some of his customer, although they loved him, some didn't get their final videos back until 7 to 8 months later (!!!). I just feel like that is way too long. I'm starting to think about backing out.

My dilemma is that I already paid the $300 and he already cashed the check. At this point, should I just go with him despite my gut feeling or should I part with the 300 and go with videographer #2 that will also do our photos? Another bonus of videographer #2 is they give a $400 discount if you book them for both.

I'm so conflicted.

Any advice would really be helpful.

Sorry for the novel.

It's been a challenge finding reviews for local live bands to play at our reception. Can anyone recommend a particular band, share your live band experience, or give your two cents about researching and selecting a live band? I would really appreciate it. Our wedding is next summer and I am a little overwhelmed with planning the music. It's definitely a priority for me. Thanks in advance for your responses!

Yello! I have recenty moved to Salina, KS with my fiancé, so I don't know the area all that well. I've looked at the Bicentennial Center, and want to stay away from there (too pricey, and bad vibe).

What are the good places and what should I stay away from?

We want a super casual reception, to fit 50-60 people, and be able to order pizza and serve our own food too. Alcohol is not being served, so we don't need a bar. There will also be kids invited, so it needs to be family friendly.

Thanks for all your help, gals and pals!

Steph

My wedding is taking place in an American Legion, which was nicer for the wallet, but not so great when it comes to photos. I am trying to find an outdoor location in the Olathe, KS area to take pics prior to the ceremony. I am not too picky, just want it to look nice and classy. Any ideas???

Ashley
