When you walk in does it feel like an old place? Do the renovations make it feel new or does it just give you an older feeling. Thank you!

I was SO excited a few days ago at the thought of finally booking our photographer and make up! I met with Ron Carr with Aimee-Zing Faces and he not only wowed me with his professional and friendly attitude but he also offered up some very useful tips and ideas for our wedding! Who would have thought I would be discussing favor ideas with my photographer?! We are really looking forward to setting the date for our Engagement portraits!!!

Dress Alterations?

Hey everyone! I need a couple of very simple alerations on my wedding dress, but I'm not sure I want to have it done at Alfred Angelo. I basically need the straps taken in and the bustle done, and I think their prices are a bit high.

Where are you/did you get your gown altered? Did they do a good job and have reasonable prices? Was it finished in a timely manner?

Inexpensive Flower Girl dress find..

If anyone is looking for inexpensive flower girl dresses, I found mine on Ebay from MS Unlimited. They are super cute and only $15 (you pay about $25 after shipping). They have several different styles/colors. I dont know if you are like I am, but I could not justify buying a $100+ dress for a 3yr old to wear for just a couple of hours. Anyway, If anyone is interested let me know and I will post again when they come in (which should only take about 5 days) and I will let you know the quality of the dress. Hope I have helped someone! I am SO excited!!! We have officially decided on our photography and my hair and makeup! I met Aimee and Ron with Aimeezing Faces at a bridal show at the Old Governors mansion last month and they do PHENOMENAL work! I can NOT wait to work with them! (October 9th, 2010!)

Aimeezing Faces Photography

My wedding was a huge success thanks in part to Aimeezing Faces Photography. I first met them at the Houston Bridal Show and was very intrigued by Ron's photography. My family, fiancé, and I visited him and hired him on the spot. Ron had so much enthusiasm during our engagement session and during my bridal pictures. The pictures were amazing as well! The fact that Ron sends the CD to you via the mail and you have all the rights to them is something you don't find often. I was able to share the pictures with my family here in Texas, Oklahoma, and in California without them having to pay anything! The day of the wedding, Ron was outstanding! Every person was impressed with his direction and efficiency. He captured the sweetest picture of my (now) husband as he took his first glimpse of me walking down the aisle. Ron was able to take pictures of my family and my husband's family in less than 20 minutes after the ceremony! At the reception, Ron was part of the party. My friends are still talking about how much fun they had taking pictures at my wedding, all thanks to Ron! My aunt, who is a novice photographer, was taking pictures the same night. Ron was so sweet to her, giving her tips on lighting and timing. He took over 3500 pictures on my wedding night!!! Seven months later, we still love "watching" our wedding photos!!! I am so anxious to see my wedding albums! I know, based on the quality of my pictures, they are going to be beautiful. My brother and two friends have gotten married since my wedding in March, and none of their photographers have been as good as Ron- not as good quality or price. I am so thankful and happy I chose Ron to photograph the most important day of my life!

Good Morning Ladies!!

My fiance and I are getting ready to book a honeymoon. We are having some budget problems and really didn't think we would be able to afford going to an all inclusive resort, but found a really great sale this weekend. Has anyone been to Breezes Resort, Spa & Golf Club - Runaway Bay? Any feedback? Based on what I see from their website, it seems like all of the activities are included (not just food/drink) so if you know otherwise, please tell me!! :)

Or does anyone have any other ideas for an all inclusive that isn't too expensive?

I ordered my wedding dress from Pearl's Place. I had great service when I went in both times and am going in within the next two weeks to pick it up. I have heard horrible things about their alterations from a friend and it scares me. I am not having it altered when I pick it up since my wedding is not until October, but need to make a decision on whether or not to let them do the alterations.

My question is, has anyone else had problems with alterations? My friend had major problems with her bridesmaid dress. The seam in the back was crooked and the sleeves were not even altered - she said they still had the pins in it and the wedding was the next day so there was nothing they could really do.

Just trying to make an educated decision before I go in there.

Hi everyone, my names Alexia and I just got engaged on the 26th of November, Greatest Thanksgiving ever, anyways, my wedding isn't scheduled til May of 2011. But only because I am currently in California finishing up school before I move back to Baton Rouge in November of 2010. But I have already started venue hunting because I know some places book way in advance. Okay but enough back story here's my question: I'm trying to figure out if I would come out cheaper by going to an all-inclusive or by booking a venue and hiring seperate vendors? My budget is only 15K-5k my parents, 5k his mom, and 5k from us. Alot of places seem to be going just above what I want to spend on my reception-6.5k at the most. Any responses at all would be greatly appreciated. I know we're all busy brides-to-be. Thank you in Advance.

I'm an LSU alum currently living in Hawaii :) Met my fiancee here, who is also from LA, and we want to come home to get married. Trouble is, we're both active duty military and won't be able to come to Louisiana before the wedding except for next month, when we'll be home for ~ two weeks at Christmas.

I've looked at the reviews here but those are mostly for the places people chose...would anyone mind giving me a quick rundown of the places they didn't choose, and why, and then why you decided on your eventual location? We won't have much time to drive around looking at places, so we're trying to narrow down the places we physically look at based on what we know is important to us.

Has anyone ever used Couture Cakes in Baton Rouge? Holly Bratton is the cake decorator/designer and her cakes look awesome. Her website is www.couturecakesbr.com. I have gone back and forth with her by email and she seems great and loves to custom design a cake especially for her brides. Her prices are about $3.50-$4/ serving which is what some of the other bakeries are. I just wanted to know if anyone had first hand information on her or has ever used her. Thanks guys!

Aimeezing Faces Hair and Makeup Review

My wedding is this December, 2009, in Baton Rouge. I am from out of town, and initially was very worried about getting my hair and makeup done, especially because I didn't know anyone in the area to ask about. I totally lucked out with Aimee of Aimeezing faces. Not only did she nail the natural yet polished hair and makeup that I wanted on the first try, but the consultation/trial was complimentary! In the past I've had makeup artists create a look that was too heavy, too unnatural, or just not me; Aimee is not like that at all. When I walked into her studio I showed her some of my inspiration photos, and then went to work, checking with me periodically to make sure I liked what she was doing. In the end, the look was fantastic; my fiance, bridesmaids, future mother in law, and even strangers on the street loved it! Aimee is a joy to work with, is super flexible, and an amazing at what she does. If you're looking for a trustworthy hair/makeup artist for your wedding in the Baton Rouge area, she is definitely worth it!

bridal portrait at reception

We're excited to take part in the tradition of displaying one of my bridal portraits near the entrance table at our reception. For those of you who also decided to do this, did you use an easel or did you place it on the table? Also, what size did you use? Of course the photographer offers VERY large sizes, and I've read that some people do 16 x 20, but I was thinking anything over 11 x 14 would never be useful to have again. (Unless you live in a mansion) =)Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Hey everybody! I just thought I'd share a good experience!I ordered my wedding dress last night at Alfred Angelo in the Towne Center plaza. I had a really great time working with my consultant, Monte. She was very laid back, calm, and gave me honest advice without being pushy at all.My first consultation with her was early last month. I tried on a bunch of dresses and it was my first time shopping, so she put me at ease and assured me there was NO PRESSURE to buy anything-- she knew I'd be looking at other places and it wasn't awkward.I went to Bridal Boutique for my next trip, and it was not a good experience. Most of their samples were far too small for me (a size 12) and the consultant even brought me a dress $500 over the budget I told her. Of course I liked the dress, and AFTER we discussed possible alterations and I was taking it off, she told me the price. I wasn't happy about that.Anyway, nothing lived up to the dress I originally liked at Alfred Angelo, so last night I went back for one last try to make sure that was IT.And it was! Ordering was super-easy. Monte measured me and suggested I order a size smaller than the sample (which was a 14) and consider ordering a petite since I am short and will be wearing flats. She even asked her manager if it would be cheaper to order the petite or for me to have it hemmed, so I could make the decision myself. I even got an estimate for the rest of my alterations.She did not press me about accessories, she just made notes about the items I liked so that there is no confusion should I decide to purchase them later.I am really happy with my experience and would suggest that store and especially Monte for anybody who is shopping for a gown! I'll update further once my dress comes in (should be January, which is in plenty of time for my June wedding).

Bill Levkoff Bridesmaid dresses

Has anyone ordered a Bil Levkoff bridesmaid dress or looked at prices? I like a few of their bridesmaids dresses, but am trying to stay within a certain price for my bridesmaids because 2 will be back in college, 1 has a few kids and 1 will just be graduating college and just getting married herself. I love Jim Helm (sp?) dresses but they are way out of what I want to ask the girls to spend.
