Hmm we live outside baltimore our family is in alabama and were getting married in new orleans. Any ideas for non traditional, funky, authentic, fun, party type wedding venues? Outdoors or in....just beginning to plan so any help is appreciated. The wedding will be may,24,2014 @6:00 pm with approximagely 25 guests. Think back street, underground, hidden secret, speak easy type really anything would help as weve only visited NOLA a couple times and everything ive seen so far is very cookie cutter-ish even by new irleans standards. Oh i didnt mention budget because weve not locked that in yet lol but of course dont wanna bankrupt the house! Thanks!

My fiancé and I are getting married at the Board of Trade in December! We are about to set up the tasting with Pigeon Catering, but we are having a tough time deciding on what to have. My fiancé is a chef and food is really important to him. We both love the BOT so much! We wanted to have an outside caterer, but we are not able to at the BOT. Any brides that used Pigeon Catering... Was there any food that you loved or hated?! Any feedback would help!! Thank you!!!

We are having a quick ceremony, indoors, in the same place as the reception. The tables will all be decorated beautifully, but I need help with decorating the place that we'll be standing for the ceremony. It's a small stage (I'd have to take just one step up), with a brick wall behind it. I don't want it to look to cheesy, but I don't want it plain either.

Also, where is the best place to rent 3 small round tables?

Does anyone know of a place to get a wedding gown restored in/around new orleans? I looked up dry cleaners, bridal shops and seamstresses with little luck. The dress needs some TLC. I'm not sure it's even possible to restore it, but would love to talk to someone who has experience in that area to see if it's a possibility. Thanks in advance!

Does anyone have a good seamstress recommendation? I took my dress in to David's (where I bought it) to have it hemmed and the train removed and was told train removal couldn't be done because it would permanently alter the dress. I specifically bought this dress because it had a straight, plain hem and thought this would be an easy job. They offered to do an underneath bustle, and so on my 5' 1" frame, it was going to mean taking up the sweep train and an additional 6 or so inches. For an August wedding? Two feet tucked in and up on a straight skirt? Really? That's going to look better? Thanks for letting me vent.

Anyway, I caution you fellow Knotties about getting your alterations there when you have definite ideas on how your dress should look. Thanks for your seamstress suggestions!

Has anybody been married at The Balcony that had their own decorations? While doing my bridal research, I noticed that all the pictures of weddings there have the provided flowers on the tables. Are you required to use the centerpieces that are provided or can you bring your own if you are having a florist? I think the venue is beautiful the way it is, but I'm having a Halloween wedding and our centerpieces will have flowers,branches, etc. to better suit our personal style. Any answers would be great! Attention New Orleans and Metairie brides: was anyone called by a company doing some sort of presentation at the Ramada on Causeway and did anyone go? They called me. I have no idea how they got my name (probably because I am signed up on this website). They told me to show up at noon today and gave me a confirmation number. When I showed up without my fiance (because he was at work), they kicked me out and told me I couldn't go in without my fiance. I assume this was some sort of a scam, but I was curious to see what they are up to. Anyone know anything about this? Curious and would like to report them for bad business behavior!

We did the money dance at our wedding (which is really common and expected in the New Orleans area.) I've been trying to keep track of all of the gifts we got for our wedding so that I can send thank you cards out soon. But I'm confused as to how it works with the money dancce. There was no way to keep track of ALL of the people we danced with for this dance. I'd love to thank everyone who gave us a monetary gift, but I'm really confused as to how. And we have absolutely no clue as to who gave what amount of money.
