Cheapest second line band

Hey ladies,

We are looking for the cheapest second line band to usher us through the FQ after our reception party at 3am. So, I don't need anything fancy. As long as hey can make music, it's good. Any ideas? My budget for this, because it's so last minute is nothing more than 300-400.( not including police escort) I know there are some young lad who get together and do second lines for very cheap.

So, it is getting close and I still do not have any idea of what to get my bridesmaids! Any suggestions??? My FI and I are presenting their gifts at the RD and of course he has already picked out his gifts(sports tickets, alchohol) and I am still trying to figure out what to give my girls and not break the bank! Will it be ok if each girl gets a different gift? Do you think that they will be upset or wonder why they didn't get a particular gift?

Thinking of switching venues!!

I am in a very exciting yet nervous situation. I have already put money down on a venue for next year, but now my fiance and I are looking into buying our first home and I'm thinking my overly expensive day seems not as important! I know we will have an amazing day regardless of where we have it, but now the big fairy tale 'wedding that I had planned seems unnecessary. I'm more excited about the marriage than the wedding now!

I have two appointments set up this week at The Rose Garden and the Riverview Room. I would love your feedback on both places. Especially about the food and space.

It's a huge change from SOP, but sometimes change is necessary, especially when dad is offering to help pay for the down payment on a home :-)

I get discounts at the marriott, is the marriott on Canal Street in a good location? close to bars/restaurants etc??

If anyone has suggestions for daytime and nightime adventures I should look into, I would totally appreciate it! We are a bunch of 20 somethings looking to have a blast and take full advantage of everything NOLA has to offer for a girls weekend/last hoo - rah!

Question for you ladies. I got married 2 months ago... what is the average time frame for a photographer to get your wedding photos to you? On a disc, via email, whatever - just as long as you get something. I was told by this photographer before my wedding that she would have the photos to me in 2-4 weeks tops. Well, now it's been 2 months. She told me 3 weeks ago that she would have them on a disc for me to pick up by the end of that week, but then I don't hear from her again after that communication. She is not responding to my messages now. I am really starting to freak out...I paid this person $3k and cannot believe how unprofessional she is. I also had problems dealing with her concerning my bridal portraits, but that's a nightmare story for another day...

Private room rehearsal dinner ideas

Hello ladies!

Any suggestions for a good venue with a private room for a rehearsal dinner. I have a huge bridal party. So I am thinking to give them a true NOLA feel a buffet with a good selection of New Orleans food may be best. The problem I am having is how to keep it just to the bridal party. Because it's a destination wedding, everyonre wants to be in the mix, but I simply cannot afford to pay for everyone( I am paying for them at the reception the next day) Any ideas on where to go ?

Ok we are pretty much having a destination wedding in NOLA – I am from there but live away – so many of our guest are coming from out of town. We are giving out welcome bags to those staying in hotels with water, Hubig’s pies and zapps along with maps and visitor guides. We wanted to plan a few things to do the nights before the wedding – go to the Carousel Bar one night, maybe Café Du Monde for breakfast one morning etc… and want to let our guest who are in NOLA early know where we will be. Is it OK to put a list of ‘events’ in their welcome bag? Unfortunately cannot pay for everything so I do not want them to assume it is a scheduled event, but something more casual. How to communicate this without having to call everyone individually?

This is for my fellow Catholic knotties...my priest cannot perform our ceremony because he is re-locating to Seattle. So our plan was to start attending Church elsewhere to find someone we can become familiar and close with to perform our ceremony next November ('12). Does anyone attend Mass regularly that just loves their priest and is great with younger adults? TIA!

Scavenger Hunt

Most of our guests will be coming in from out of town, so we were thinking of doing a two hour walking french quarter scavenger hunt with the last stop being cafe du monde for bignets. But I am having a hard time figuring out a few places in between.

Has anyone ever done this before or have any good suggestions for places to add to the hunt?

Hello Lovely dolls!
I am 39 days away.. woo hooo. Hope planning is going well for you guys. I need some help with sorting out my timeline. I have a rough draft, but there is just so much up in the air. I need help with estimates for people who have had ceremonies in the french quarter or have an idea of nola wedding timing.

Ceremony starts at 5:00pm. What time would I have to leave Poydras to get to Feench quarter in time to start at 5pm?

My ceremony is very short, I am anticipating 20-30 minutes( if that)

5:45- 6:45- pictures at the courtyard after guests leave

Cocktail starts at :6:45: I am hoping the shuttle can whip everyone over there between 5:30 and 6:30... resaonable timing?

Dinner: 8:00pm. I really want guests to start dinner at 8:00pm. I am thinking that we should start with the MC by 7:45 so once the entire bridal party enters it'll be about 8 pm to start dinner.

Any other ideas? Anything that I need to tbe thinking about?

Is 3 hours long enough for a reception or do I need to do 4 hours? Getting married at 3pm at the Cathedral with my reception at a hotel on Canal Street starting at 4:30pm (after 2nd line). What do you all think? Should I end the reception at 8pm or 8:30pm?

A lot of people have done the Blue Dog book but I'd like something that shows us more something that incorporates both of our cities/states and definitely not a Katrina book.
