Now that I'm talking to people who live in Maine and not all over the US....

I posted something on the main board about cash bars, that my fiance and I were deciding to go with that due to budget, the fact that we don't drink, and half of both our families are alcoholics.

I realize that it isn't etiquette but I got responses from chicago, pittsburg, and other high end cities saying I was cheap, rude, etc...I just feel (and I'm not trying to be rude) that if you want to drink alcohol you can pay for it yourself. I believe you can have fun w/out alcohol.

Are Michael and I the only ones going the cash bar route?? In most of weddings I have been to this is what is done. I for one have never been to a wedding with an open bar...

Thoughts....

A few things to note: the bachie will be in February or March (cold!) and we'll have a few under 21s with us. We're thinking of finding a fun activity for the day, followed by dinner, and then bars/clubs for the 21+.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Hello ladies! I have a few things to sell from my wedding in September. E-mail me if you'd like pictures :-)

-1 pair of Liz Rene Couture white wedding shoes. They are a size 8 with a 3 1/2" heal and are brand new! I never wore these at all. They have a criss-cross strap in the front with rhinestones in the center of the criss-cross and a strap around the ankle. The ankle strap also has some rhinestones around the buckle. I paid $95 for these shoes and will take a reasonable offer.

-1 pair of Touch Ups white wedding shoes. These are a size 8 with a 3 1/4" heal. These shoes are also brand new. I never wore these. They have straps on the front with rhinestone and pearls. There is also a strap around the back of the ankle. I paid around $50 for these and would take a reasonable offer.

-10 large white garden lanters. I was going to use these for centerpieces on half of my tables but we went another way with the tables after I bought these. They have handles to hang them on and white vines and leaves on the glass. They are made to put a candle in. I cannot ship these so they would either have to be picked up at my house or I can meet someone in Waterville, Augusta, or Newport. I paid $70 for them and would take $45 OBO

- 20 small white garden lanters. We used these to hang on shepherds hooks all around our outside reception. They were inteded to go on the tables with the larger lanters but since the table changed so did the use of these. They were beautiful hanging with the candles lit at night. I also paid $70 for these and would take $45. Like the larger ones I cannot ship these. I know they have some similar to the ones I have but black at Michael's and they are $3 a piece.

I have pictures available of any of these items.

I am currently in the process of planning a Sep wedding. I was orginally wanted to have it at the Samoset on 9-10-11, but unfortunately that date is already taken but I don't have to have that date. The Samoset does have some other days available in Sep but I have now expanded my search. I came across the Camden Harbour Inn and was wondering if anyone else has looked into them. I'm having a smallish wedding of about 50-60 and don't really want to spend more than 10,000 on the reception, but I want a very classy upscale feel. Please let me know if you have any opinions on them or reviews.

Thanks,

Cristy

This may be a very silly question. I created a wedding website using the knot and when I give my link out to my friends it still has the "Edit this page" at the bottom. Is there anyway to get rid of this? Will any one be able to end my page?

Thank you!! :)

wedding porn! Here are pictures from my wedding at the Bar Harbor Inn Sept 12, 09. I found it to helpful to see pictures when I was planning, so hope these help anyone in the Bar Harbor area. Flowers are by Cottage Flowers, my photographer was Michele Stapleton although this link is to photos taken by family, I got my hair done at New Image salon, the officiant is from Acadia Weddings, favors from Cranberry Island kitchen, cake by Janice Stout. All of the vendors mentioned were wonderful including the Inn. We were a little disappointed with our dj. The band you see playing is the groom and his friends. http://www.flickr.com/photos/hartjen56/sets/72157622678881119/

If anyone has any recommendations please let me know. We are having a really small intimate wedding ceremony in our living room and I sort of picture an older woman with tons of experience who is a true hippie at heart.

Thanks!

Eva

Hi gals;

So I've been engaged almost 6 months now, haven't planned a thing. I'm pretty overwhelmed with the cost and amount of things to take into consideration. I was very very close to booking New England Outdoor Center in Millnocket; but the cost is just getting out of control.

I'm at the point where I'd like to invite just close family and friends, maybe 40 or so. I'm tempted to elope but I think a small casual gathering would be great compromise as I know my mom and also FI's mom are both very excited for this wedding. That's fine with me, I'm not opposed to having a wedding at all, I just don't want to stress about it or spend a lot of money on it.

Anyways, long story shot, I was looking at Winslow Park in Freeport, they have a group shelter that costs $100. We could have a ceremony, then casual catered bbq under the shelter. I feel like it's a real steal being on the water and everything. I'm not sure their alcohol policies, I just was googling them this evening, so that may be a deal breaker if it's not allowed.

Any other ideas for similar venues?

Thanks,
Amy

I would really LOVE to have our wedding ceremony outside but I'm not sure if there is a good place in Portland. I heard that Portland Headlights may be an option but they don't allow chairs? Anyone know of any nice place for a ceremony in Portland. Even if we had to have the wedding in the church and had a nice area near it to take pictures, that would be fine as well!! We are probably going to have our Reception at the Marriott at Sable Oaks so all we need is a ceremony location. Any info would be appreciated. :)
