Hi all! It's been a while, and I took a holiday from planning, but I'm back, and so is the stress!

So I'm getting married on Pine Point Beach. I called about parking and found out I need a permit ($100) to get married there- public beach my bum. Anyway, I wanted to rent chairs for my 125 guests to sit in during the ceremony, but the director said that 125 is too many so I can either push my wedding back from 4:30 to 6:00 or have no/limited chairs (he didn't give me a number).

So here's my dilema: Do I keep everything they way it is planned and except for parents and others who must sit, everyone stands for the ceremony? Or do I push it all back to 6 and my guests eat dinner around 8?

Any and all advice is WELCOMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone, I'm new to this website and I thought I'd introduce myself! I'm Eileen. I'm 20 and I live in the Bangor area with my fiance. We are both attending UMaine as education majors, and my DF is also in the ME National Guard. He proposed in July of 2008, and we're finally tying the knot in August!

And here's my question for you ladies...
We are attempting to do our wedding for as close to $5000 as possible and are inviting close friends/family only (about 60-70 people). What are some good (but moderately priced) venues/photographers/and wedding cake shops in the area? We've looked at a few online and are planning to visit a few in the next few weeks so any information anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated!!

Okay, this is kind of a follow-up to my last post, but my difficult BM has told my MOH that she doesn't want her invitation to read "and Guest" because she's so upset that she isn't bringing a boyfriend. She's dating a guy right now, but he is getting shipped overseas before the wedding, and she's expressed to me that they might not stay together.

This is the same BM who, before she started dating this guy, got the invitation for the engagement party that said "and Guest," and flipped out at me about it, saying she was so upset when she read it that she cried. Um, way to be supportive?

Anyways, what should I do? I was going to let her bring a guest since I didn't know if she might be with a new guy, or if she had a friend she wanted to bring instead, if her current guy is overseas. If I know who she's bringing before the invitations go out, I can obviously address it with that person's name, but if not...what do I write? Should I just write the current bf's name if they are still together, and if he can't come, oh well? I think any substitute for "and Guest" (like "and Date") will still upset her.

I'm tempted to say, hey, take the "and Guest" or you don't get to bring anyone! But since she's a BM, I feel it's only right to her let bring someone.

I get that going to a wedding without a serious significant other can be depressing (I've been there!), but to flip out about the invitation wording, especially as a BM when she should at least try and pretend to be happy her friend is getting married? Just...immature. Mostly, I just want to tell her she's being dramatic and to get over it.

My MOH is my sister, and we are close in age and so have been close all our lives. I have one BM who has been my friend my whole life and was once my best friend, but over the last year we've really grown apart and haven't always gotten along, which needless to say has made including her in the wedding stressful.

I confronted her a few months back about how she wasn't there for me and asking her if she still wanted to be friends and be in the wedding, and she said yes, and things were really great...for a month or so. Now, she's been totally MIA and hasn't bought her dress, which I told her to do by the end of January. She also never got back to MOH about what dates would be good for a bachelorette party. I tried to talk to her about it but she kept blowing me off.

Anyways, my MOH just told me she managed to get this girl to sit down and talk with her, and told her that she had to buy her dress and had to try and make time to talk to me about wedding stuff, and make sure she still wanted to be involved. I felt so happy MOH was sticking up for me and took the initiative to try and keep this BM on track and make sure she knew what expected of her. She even organized a whole trip to David's Bridal this week so that she, BM and me could all go and get the dress together, when I hadn't even been able to nail BM down to meet me for coffee! I'm happy MOH played bridezilla for me.

Long story short (okay, not short at all!), I guess this BM is still committed and hopefully will step up from here on out, and like, actually show up to the bachelorette and the shower and all that stuff. I don't think I'll end up staying friends with her after the wedding, sadly, but hopefully we can at least be close enough to enjoy the stuff leading up to the wedding and the actual day.

A word to those who haven't picked their bridal parties: do it carefully, and don't do it too far in advance! In hindsight, I should have waited.

Sorry so long!

So when FI and I first got engaged I chose not to ask my younger sister to be a bridesmaid because I felt she would only give me a hard time about everything. My sister is pretty selfish, and can be very cruel at times. I know this sounds like a normal sisterly quarrell but it's more than that. I felt that if I asked my sister she would bail weeks before the wedding among other things.
But I felt very guilty, she is my sister and she is an adult and maybe she would be what I needed her to be. So I asked her and have regretted it ever since. I havent asked much of her, only that she try on dresses. She fought with me over the dress fittings saying that she couldnt fit them into her schedule, then when she finally went to a fitting she told me outright that she wasn't going to wear the dress becuase it was ugly. She insists on wearing stiletto heels when the wedding ceremony is outside on GRASS. Its wearing me down because she told me she WANTED to do this for me but hasn't really acted like it. I really regret asking her and I can't really say anything to her because my family will come down on me about it. I got a 20 minute lecture from my aunt becuase I didn't ask my sister in the first place. I can't trust or depend on my sister even though I wish I could.

Anyone have any good suggestions for buying jewelry for the wedding? I'm looking for something not too expensive but also don't want to go to a place like Claire's -- more like a boutique-y places that has something a little more unique. I'm looking for earrings for me and necklaces for the girls.

If anyone has any suggestions of their favorite places to buy jewelry, that'd be great! I'm in the Portland-Freeport area.

So FI and I just decided to get married at my childhood church. It's absolutly gorgeous and right in the Portland where we both grew up. I went to school there for my elementary school, and have many ties. The only reason there was any debate is because we weren't sure if we wanted to get married in a church or not. I was really excited that we finally decided to get married in here. So, I called to arrange it, and they are booked for that date!!! Even though it's almost two years from now! September 2011. I should'nt have gotten my hopes up without checking the availability!

Any suggestions for Portland ceremonies?! My mom suggested a different church but I feel like without any connection to the church, it doesn't make any sense.

Thanks :]
