Hey ladies! I'm not a frequenter of the Christmas Tree Shop, but I was wondering if anyone knew if they had good deals on things like votive holders, candles, etc. I'm trying to do some cost comparison on that kind of stuff, but haven't made it out there yet. Also, I haven't checked out Michaels either. Is there a lot of good stuff there? Joann's had a few vases and various votives/candles, but seemed a tad pricey to me -- or at least more than I expected to pay.TIA!

I'm not really sure what questions to ask them, or how much time I should set aside for each appointment. I want somebody that's good, that I feel comfortable with, and that has experience, but I also have limited budget as me and my FI are paying for the photographer. Any pointers would be extremely helpful. Also have any of you worked with or seen Roxanne Ashey, Kim Chapman, Steve Fairfield, or Tsukroff at a wedding? I have appointments set up with each of them.

Hello Ladies,Just wanted to pop in briefly and say hello while I wait for DH (!) to get dressed. Our wedding Saturday was fantastic. I can only think of a couple things that went wrong and they were very very minor. The weather and the foliage were perfect, our band and photographer were phenomenal and we had a wonderful time with our friends and family. One of our minor snags was that DH's ring is too small for his finger (I don't know how that happened), so now, rather than cut off the circulation to his poor hand, he's wearing it around his neck on one of my necklace chains. He's pleased that we found an alternative--and that he can pretend to be (a way cooler version of) Frodo with the One Ring.We got to Paris early this morning and have spent most of the day settling in and napping. But the apartment we're renting is beautiful and in a perfect location. In a couple of minutes we're going to head out in search of our first real Parisian meal, so I don't have time to post any amateur pics, but I promise I'll post some when we return.A Bientot!

Hey ladies,So, I bought my dress like a year before the wedding date, after going to David's Bridal twice and trying a bunch on. I was really happy with it, and everyone seemed to like it. But maybe I've been watching too much Say Yes to the Dress or something, but I'm starting to have second thoughts about it! I've got pics of me wearing it in my bio, so you can check them out.I guess I feel like it doesn't make me look as tall and slender as I would want. I'm worried it accentuates too much my hourglass shape. I've been comparing it to another dress I tried on, and now I'm kind of wishing I'd bought it instead. I'm going to try and post a pic of me wearing it: Should I stick with the one I have, or do you like the one above better?Returning the dress I bought isn't an option, and I don't really want to try and sell it and buy another one, because I doubt I can actually sell it for what I paid for it. But maybe I should? Or maybe I just need some ideas for how to wear and accessorize the dress I have so I feel happy. I've been thinking maybe I should get a petticoat for it -- what do you think? Also, I can wear it strapless or with straps, and I can't decide which one is best. Anyone want to chime in? Eek sorry for the mini freakout. Thanks so much!

Finally after what seemed like an entire lifetime I found my dream dress and I wanted to take a minute to rave about the place I bought it and thank some of the girls on here for pointing me in the direction of Madeleine's Daughter in Portsmouth. I went to pretty much every bridal shop you can think of between Portsmouth and Bangor and actually went to Madeleine's three times before I found my perfect dress on the third trip! They were so helpful and the girl that helped me, Brandi, was amazing. She put up with me continuing to say no, I didn't find "the one" and trying on what seemed like 100 dresses and through it all she continued to be super nice and helpful and she always brought me dresses that were within my price range. I would definately recommend this place to anyone looking to buy their dress. I would also highly recommend Andrea's Bridal in Portland and The Henry's Bridal in Bangor...even though I didn't buy my dress there they were great shops with very nice people.

Unfortunately, right now I'm unofficially engaged. My boyfriend (Josh) and I want to get married (not until 2012 though because there are things we want to get done first). Josh has had a talk with my parents about asking me to marry him, but he won't be asking until my father approves enough to say yes to it, and Josh really wants my father's approval first. I think that's really a good quality though, wanting that approval.Anyways, I'm here. Just checking things out on the site, looking at ideas that I could use when I get married.

Hi all!I've been checking in on this board for a bit now, but wanted to actually say hello. My wedding is planned for 11 Sept 10 and will be held in Oakland, ME. The wedding location (ceremony & reception) is Alden Camps -- an 'American Plan' resort situated along a lake. After Labor Day, the Camp allows for events such as weddings to be held on their property.I'm planning my Maine wedding from New Jersey (southern) -- yup, I'm a flatlander! My family's been vacationing near Belgrade Lakes since my mom was young and that tradition has continued through the generations -- hence my complete and utter love for the state. My parents, along with several other family members, now spend their summers in ME and my brother/sister-in-law live there year-round. Because I have quite a few folks who will be near my wedding site in the months leading up to it, I should have a decent amount of help orchestrating the shindig. However, I'm really hoping that I'll be able to find additional planning assistance from you ladies -- especially with vendor searches/reviews. I look forward to more conversation over the coming months!Take care,Jen

Oh the joy! My wedding stress has begun... I just learned today that the site my fiancee and I had booked for our ceremony -- the amphitheatre behind the library in Camden -- is actually already taken by an arts and crafts fair. (Good thing we visited this past weekend to see what things will look like next year, because I got the distinct sense that no one was going to alert us about this little scheduling snafu!) So I'm wondering if anyone has ideas about ceremony sites in the midcoast area, especially around Camden, Rockport, Rockland, or Lincolnville. We'd also consider towns slightly beyond that if the right opportunity arose. Our wedding is October 2, 2010, and we're expecting 100-115 guests. We really do NOT want to change the date, because our reception site (The Whitehall Inn, which is AWESOME) only has September 4 (Labor Day) or September 11 (obviously not ideal for romance.) Any ideas, ladies? We'd consider the unusual. And we're trying to keep it at a budget of $600 or less. Thank you for any help!

okay so my budget is SUPER tight so when my cousin offered to be my photographer and do my e-pics and wedding photos as a gift I jumped at the chance. After reading some posts on here about hiring family, and how its a bad idea and hearing some horror stories I started to grow a little nervous. Today my FI and I met with my cousin and did our engagement pics using Lake Auburn as our back drop. My cousin uses digital film so that we could get an idea what our pics looked like right away and I'm telling all you girls that I couldn't be happier! She did such a good job!!! And I'm not saying this because she's family! she is trying to get her photography business off the ground so if you wanna check her out her site is www.momentsphotomaine.com.
