Also posted on the Chit Chat board but since I'm local I'd thought I'd ask here too:

So I apparently got entered into a wedding sweepstakes from 'Simplicity Gourmet', I haven't been to any wedding expos yet so the only other way I got entered was because knot sent my info to them (i'm not registered with any other wedding sites).

It's one of these things where you go to their little show, take a survey about their cooking products and they do a little cooking show for you and you automatically get prizes: 3 day/2 night trip, discounts on their products, discounts on other wedding stuff like invites etc etc.

I also know that these things can sometimes be a scam where you have to sign a contract to buy or use some of their services, even though they say on the phone you have no obligation to buy. But this is one company I haven't heard of yet.

Has anybody recieved a similar invite/prize package from this company? Was it a scam or was it legitimate? Again the company name is 'Simplicity Gourmet'. Thanks in advance.
I may need to take the top in a bit--or not since it's a corset back, and I will be cutting off the train/hemming the dress. But that's it. No bustle or anything complicated.

It's the same size I tried on in the store which was perfect except the length.

I have heard that AA's alterations are really expensive.
Since a few of us mentioned it, here is our dedicated BMI thread! My two issues now are deciding on stations vs. sit down dinner, and how to decorate the pavillion for the ceremony.Regarding dinner - I love the idea of stations but am worried about crowds and long lines. We will have approx. 200 people, and station tables will take up room. Also, if there's only one station for each thing, the lines are likely to be long. Anyone have any insight on that? We are pretty set on Atlantic Catering - prices are awesome and they seem really helpful! For the ceremony - I'd like to decorate the pavillion somehow, but I'd prefer not to spend a lot of money (and am not too big into flowers) and have no creativity whatsoever. Don't really want to resort to hiring someone for this. Do you girls have any ideas??I'm excited to chat with you all more about BMI weddings!! I am a 8/21/10 bride!

My wedding is in Baltimore County in just over two weeks, and I was thinking that I might like to have a professional do my makeup before the ceremony. I'm not going to a salon for my hair; one of my friends who's traveling to the wedding from out of state is a stylist and is going to be doing hair for me and all the ladies that need hairstyles.

I know that I'd probably be OK putting on my own makeup, but it might be nice to get a professional to do it. Does anyone have any recommendations? The wedding venue and the place we're getting ready is in the BWI Airport area.

Thanks!

I don't post on this board too often but I figured I'd post this here since you're all local. Does anyone have any suggestions for a hair and make-up artist for the day of? I've done some research and found that my date is really popular (9/10/11) and a lot of the more popular/known hair & makeup places are booked on my wedding day. So if anyone has any recommendations or knows of a place that may not be as advertised, let me know! Thanks :)

Hi All!

Do any of you have suggestions on DJs? My Fi and I want to try to save a little bit of money in this area - we are planning to splurge on photography. I don't want an awful DJ, but I'd also like to cheap out a little. I'm thinking under $700? We would like the DJ for four hours.

Thanks! :)

I'm in the White Marsh area (willing to go a tad far for somewhere good) and looking for a good place for a Brazilian wax. I already got one up in Pittsburgh (where I am getting married and getting my wax right before the wedding) but I don't want to go all the way up again in the next few weeks just for a wax.

Any recs would be a big help!

TIA!

Well since I never got that wedding although I had made sooo many great friends on here, I wanted to show you the amazing one I did get last month. It ended up working out that I didn't marry my first fiance, because I found my husband and couldn't be happier!!

I remember when I was a knottie and we couldn't wait for the girls to get married and share their photos with us. So here ya go: We got married April 16th, 2011 in Ocean City and I really wanted some beautiful beach and boardwalk shots. We got what we wanted!!

If you have time, watch the video.
