My fiance and I have been together for 5 years and we have a home together as well as a 2 year old daughter and an 11 year old stepdaughter. We are on the fence as to whether we should register? My first wedding was 15 years ago at the courthouse but his 1st was a big wedding. Soooo do we register? We are paying for the wedding on our own and we are having a brunch wedding at Towson Golf and country. I'm thinking we should register or else people will get us things that we don't necessarily want? I guess we just wanted to double check what others may think? Thanks in adance!'Julie

SEARCH! That's right, tomorrow we're launching new boards. They'll have some other bells and whistles but honestly, I'm most excited they'll have search! It's been a very, very long time since these boards were updated and they're old, freeze a lot, and the search never, every works. So tomorrow, you'll find new boards here around 9AM EST. If all goes well, you'll be searching up a storm by lunch. And, don't worry, there will be an FAQ for all the new features and Knot Annie and I will be here to field questions. Oh, and just to calm the fears, your post count may be a bit lower than it is today, but it shouldn't be much. A small price to pay for actually being able to find all those posts you've participated in (oh, did I mention the boards won't archive--no more 1 page boards!). TIA Knot Jen

I am looking for a good but cheap videographer for my wedding on 10.16.10. All of the professional companies that I have checked into are at least $1,000. I'm looking for someone just to videotape my wedding and special parts of the reception, and just do a good job! Doesn't have to be anything fancy. My wedding will be in Harford County.Does anyone know of any people who do videography maybe on the side? I wouldn't mind asking someone in my family just to use a video camera and catch the special parts of the day, but I want my family to be involved in the ceremony & reception and not have to worry about video taping. I want them to be in the moment.Help! Any suggestions/referrals would be greatly appreciated!

Next on my list of checks is the DJ. I've contacted a few based on recs here and the weddingwire and just wanted to check on a few things.Regarding Absolute Entertainment - their prices are based on the "tier" of DJ you choose. I've heard a few names thrown around in relation to them but have no idea who is in what tier. Tier 3 seems a tad pricy, but are the tier 2 DJs any good?? I don't think I will even bother with tier 1. Also, I've seen a lot of great recs on weddingwire for Frank Young but not much here. Does anyone have any experience with him? His prices seem really good. Also looking into mydeejay who I've heard a lot about as well. Thanks in advance! :)

This may seem silly but I need advice. I am working on a wedding album for my parents and DH's parents as a Christmas gift. As some older knotties may remember there was a bit of family drama with his side before the wedding which hasn't exactly gone away. (I haven't seen MIL since the wedding...)Anyway, I wanted to print a thank you letter on the back of my parents b/c they paid for most of it and have always done so much for us. Then the one for Dh's parents would be blank. He is afraid that if his parents ever see my parent's with the really nice note on the back, they would be offended. Thoughts?? Should I just leave them both blank to avoid any future drama or should I do one for my family and another for his and hope they never find out?? TIA! DH is being less than helpful with this and I need a 3rd party opinion.

When we first started planning the wedding we wanted something very small (immediate family with a few close family members and friends). This would have been about 50 guests. We decided to invite a few more making it about 100 guests. The max for our venue is 125. Last night I decided to finalize the guest list so we could send out our save the dates and we are about 150+ guests. There are a few people that I have in mind to cut from the list but they already think that they are invited to the wedding so I really don't know what to do. How would you tell someone that they're not inviting to the wedding when they think they are? Also, I am sure that some people on the guest list are not going to come. There are about 20 that are if-ey. I am wondering if I should invite a little over 125 because I am assuming some will respond no when I send my rsvp's. Did anyone else invite over their limit? If yes, how many guests over?

I'm impatient. I've been stalking my photog's site for the last week pretty much hoping to see an update. Her cards that were left on guests tables at the wedding said pics would be up "on or before November 12th"..yeah it's just the 13th but whatever. I emailed her this morning asking for an update and am waiting on a response. People keep asking me when her pictures are going to be up!

Just got back from the tasting/bridal showcase with Atlantic and I am stuffed!! They definitely showed off their stuff - food wise! They pretty much sold me tonight, so now we just have to decide between a sit-down and stations - although it would be hard to choose against a mashed potato martini bar!I know a few of you who've said you either went with them or are going to go with them, so tell me about your experiences with them and what you ate or will be eating!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good, trustworthy, fair place to take my e-ring to get appraised? I'm having no luck with Zales in Towson Town Center and just want to get this done so I can take care of the insurance. I was going to take it to Samuelson's Diamonds but I'm having some serious doubts after some e-mailing back-and-forth with someone there. I just don't want to get cheated by someone who's trying to convince me to sell it to them (for less than it's worth). Thanks in advance!
