My fiance and I are having our wedding ceremony at his house in Bryans Road, MD, and we would like for our reception to be in an indoor location close to there. We have a lot of guests that will be traveling from WV, so the closer the reception site, the better for them (we're already asking them to make a long drive!) We are also trying to avoid that dreaded drive into D.C. if possible Haha.

But here's the tricky part . . . I am a student in MS and am doing much of the wedding planning from afar. Plus, I'm not from MD and don't have the inside scoop. It is difficult to find reception sites just from the web, and I thought that some of you fellow MD brides might have some inside advice on reception sites that we could look into in the area  : )  Any advice (preferably for affordable places, with/without outside catering allowed) would be greatly appreciated!!

Here's what I envision: Late afternoon or early evening ceremony with soft lighting, small wedding. Then the reception in a dining room area of a restaurant. Being this is a second wedding for both of us we want to keep it intimate and simple.

We're in the Cecil County area of Maryland. I truly have no idea how to start so I'm looking forward to getting any ideas I can.

Does anyone have experience with having a friend or family member officiate your wedding in the state of Maryland?  If so, what website did they use to become ordained?  Did you have any trouble having your marriage recognized by the state?  Are there any specific things I need to do with the state or local government to make sure it all goes through? Do you have any advice or other recommendations about the process?

My fiance and I would love to have my uncle officiate. Before we ask him, I wanted to figure out how it works in Maryland and avoid any major complications. I also want to make sure we find a legit website.

1) Elk Manor Farm in North East has water and such, and they say they have a barn there but I can't find any pictures or anything, so I would just contact them and see.  I also have no clue what the rental is but I think they allow outside catering which is a huge plus (As always I recommend KS Catering).

2) For $300, you get the entire weekend... Tea Barn at Fair Hill (I found this info out on the maryland dnr website, I think it's a state park, scroll to Fair Hill NRMA).

  I found a youtube of a wedding there too, capacity is 125, someone on here said the dimensions were 35x50.

Alrighty, just trying to be extra helpful!  It's super hard to find these rustic venues so if I come across more, I will keep them coming.
