So I have written a few post about getting ideas for outdoor wedding venues but I think it is a good idea to look at some indoor ones as well. Does anyone have any good ideas for indoor ceremonies and receptions in or around Frederick MD. I prefer them not to be in a church, anything unique!!

Okay, so....we got engaged in August. I was so excited that I started looking at places online, etc...then got word that my parents couldn't attend in Maryland, so I started looking at place in my home state (California)...then my fiance told me he didn't want it there 'cause California means nothing to HIM... We started arguing about the wedding every time it came up, so I just gave up planning and told myself, "whatever...courthouse, here we come".

Now we've agreed to have the wedding in the Maryland/Virginia area, and I'm getting excited again...but at the same time, VERY overwhelmed. We don't have a date, because we need to find a venue...and there is just soooooo much!

...how do you START this planning process? PLEASE HELP

Hi everyone,

I am getting married in May and signed a contract with a venue in Elkridge Maryland (the Belmont conference center) about 7 months ago. About two weeks ago we received a lovely phone call that they are no longer doing weddings and will not be honoring their contract. Fantastic! In the last two weeks I have looked at 7 different venues in the Maryland/NoVa region but I haven't found anything yet that is perfect. I am planning on having a rather large wedding (around 250) and would like both the ceremony and reception to be outside (or tented). We would like to find something that is somewhat rustic looking and very natural rather than manicured.

alcohol vendors close to Frederick...???

We are getting married at Shade Trees & Evergreens in Frederick in September next year. . .

We have a few caterers that we are looking at but one or two don't provide alcohol.

Does anyone know of any alcohol vendors in the area that they can suggest for us to use?

Also- how does it work? Do we pay for the full amount that we order and then bring back the unused to get money back?

Or do we pay for the amount we actually use AFTER the actual reception... ?

We are having 112 guests, about 95 of them are of drinking age. Does anyone have any $$ figures to compare to with how much they spent on alcohol with a vendor?

I was in Frederick on Friday afternoon (around 2pm) and thought I'd stop in to see what hair accessories they had, I walked in, and there was a lady standing at the door, I explained that I was interested in looking at accessories - she quickly responded with "well we're very busy - we have people waiting in line for a fitting room" - I explained that I was only interested in viewing accessories, and that I would not require a fitting room - she asked what type of accessories I was interested in, and I told her I would like to look at their hair accessories, I also added that I wouldnt even require assistance and that I just wanted to browse the accessories they had on display. She just stared at me - meanwhile - the entire time she's been talking to me about how busy they are, I have yet to see a single other person. I pointed to the display case behind her and said "I'd really just like to look at the accessories in the case" she said "we're extremely busy" so I said "thats fine I'll just leave" and she said nothing and proceeded to shut the door behind me. I have never been treated so rudely, even my mother who was with me was appalled at her behavior. I will never go back to TLC, the only thing they had, that none of the other bridal salons I visited had, was their unwelcoming attitude.

My wedding was in Florida, but I live in Baltimore City (so I spent more time on the FL boards when planning)…. I am selling my Monique Lhuiller wedding gown, it was bought at Betsy Robinson’s in Pikesville. I bought it in March 2010 and just wore it at my October 2010 wedding. All the other items are still for sale, but are at my parents house in FL. But, I will be there next week for Christmas so if anyone is interested in anything I will try and bring it back with me!

Venue w/ Included Caterering or Outisde Caterer? Whats better?

Hi everyone,
We are trying to decide between a venue that has their own catering that you have to use, but they provide a lump sum price inluding everything except gratuity and extra decorations. The price is $90/person including seated dinner, all setup stuff like chairs, utensils, linens, a wedding cake, Premium Alcohol, hors deuvres, staff, and name cards. There are no cake cutting fees, etc., just need to pay 20% gratuity. The rental for the place is also cheaper, $1,100 but it's nice.

Is this a high price? We want to have a fairly budgeted wedding, our goal is $17,000 for everything little thing for over 125 people.

Or is it the less expensive to rent a venue that doesn't require their caterer, and just find a private caterer? How much are caterers for everything per person?

I was wondering if Maryland (DC suburbs) has any get together's for brides to work on DIY projects as a group? It may be cool to meet other brides too!

My bridesmaids aren't as creative and artistic... So, I feel weird asking them to sit with me and work on my projects!

Hi everyone, looking for a wedding venue in Maryland that can seat up to 125. My budget is 10,000 I would like that to be inclusive of taxes and fees. I'm a girl with a beer budget and champagne taste. The venues I have loved so far are the Gaylord at the National Harbor, Gramercy Mansion, Newton White Mansion, Chase Court. Unfortunetly all these venues are extremely expensive and this would change the option of open bar for me and my guest if I choose an expensive place. Need help fast! Was hoping to have a venue before I see my future mother in law in two weeks.

i'm getting married next oct at oxon hill manor. i'm unclear on who is allowed to marry us in the state of maryland. i am not regligious and have a couple of friends who are ordained but i am getting mixed search results on google. does anyone have a solid answer to this? i'd rather not pay the high costs of an officiant, like a clerk, judge, etc. thanks!!!

I am stuck on ideas of where to have our ceremony. My FI and I are not overly religious so we are not necessarily looking for a church. Does anyone have any ideas for a ceremony site in Annapolis (we already booked reception at Loew's Hotel Annap.)? I guess we would prefer something pretty but different/unique.

I know they can do ceremonies at Loew's, just the way we want the reception set-up, they can't do the ceremony also.

Does anyone have any ideas where I can get my hair done for the wedding?

I've been engaged for a little over a month now and have for the most part just been flitting from board to board looking for ideas. I do have a question that maybe someone will be able to help with:

We are looking at venues and one in particular is sticking out for the moment. Any reviews (good or bad) of Running Hare VIneyards?

We aren't big wine drinkers but the location looks great on the website (we are visiting it next week). We don't have a specific date in mind just yet, generally: March-May or September in 2012 and we don't want anything fussy for right around 100 guests, just for everyone to have a good time. We live in St. Mary's County (I'm from Baltimore originally) so we have been looking at a few different places from down here to Baltimore. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
