Hi! I've posted on here maybe once in the past year and a half, so I apologize if I did it incorrectly, but I posted my reviews of our wedding last week in case it should help anyone else out. We were married in the South Lyon area, with our reception in Wixom. Our budget was $8,000 but it came closer to $10,000. I just want to let any other budget brides know it is totally possible to have a beautiful, elegant wedding without spending (in my case) more than half my salary on one day. Have FUN!!

Hey guys,

I have kind of an odd situation. I'm Mormon, so I'm getting married/sealed in the temple in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 5th of this year, and then having a small dessert and punch reception just with family and close friends in Ann Arbor on September 12th. Before the reception, just for an hour or an hour and a half, I want to get some formal pictures taken of my fiance and I with our families. We'll already have pictures taken in SLC in our Western wedding clothing, just of the two of us, and then in Ann Arbor we'd like pictures of us in our Indian wedding attire with my family, his family, and both our families. Nothing fancy, nothing longer than about 90 minutes. I'm having a hard time finding photographers offering packages that small, and when I've asked about custom packages the quotes I've been given have been much higher than the ones I've gotten from our photographer in SLC ($500 for 90 minutes, one shooter, copyright to our pictures, some editing, some prints, nothing too extravagant). Is this just an issue of market? Do any of you know of a photographer that offers a small, simple package like I'm looking for?

Thanks.

Has anyone come across the juliet cap style veil while shopping for wedding dresses or accessories in metro Detroit? This is what I'm looking for, but I'm not comfortable buying one without trying it on, and I didn't see anything even close to this style at any of the bridal stores I have been to. Here's a couple examples from the internet. Thanks for any tips!

Hi everyone, I am an out of town bride looking to plan a wedding for next spring in Ann Arbor. I seem to be having trouble finding an interesting venue for the reception. I need a place that can accommodate 130-150 guests, and is NOT some crummy banquet hall because I dislike them. I would prefer a location that lets me select my own caterer. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Hello, we are getting married at Rochester community house this fall and will have both the ceremony and reception there. They do have some pretty strict decorating rules so I'm not sure what to do. No tape, staples, nothing hanging, etc. Does anyone have suggestions or have pictures of their wedding there that I could use for ideas to make the place a little more festive? We already have our caterer and are on a very tight budget for the rest of the vendors. If anyone has recommendations for flowers/DJ/photographer/wedding cake in the area that are very reasonably priced but still do a good job I would love to hear from you as well! Thank you for your help! I am determined to plan a beautiful on-a-budget wedding in only 5 months!

Most of the venues I'm leaning towards are DIY. Starting to realize that it is a lot more work than booking hall. Can anyone please give me some recommendations on wedding planners and I'm looking to spend $500 to $1500. I am choosing venue, caterer, dj everything myself. I need someone to make sure it all comes together and maybe help with venue decor? Thank you for any suggestions.
