I've posted before looking for someone who has had/been to a wedding at STA but was unsuccessful. I guess I'm just trying again.

At all of the weddings I can remember in churches, there is always a door at the end of the center isle leading into a hallway where the bride is stashed away until everyone else is in place. Then her music starts playing, everyone stands up, the doors open and voila - there's the bride.

I never thought too much about this until recently I was at mass at STA and noticed that there are no doors at the end of the center isle; there is no hallway behind it. Only a fountain and then that gorgeous window.

The only entrances for the bride to remain hidden before coming out are in the far corners in the back.

Has anyone seen a wedding in a church like this or have any idea how the "revealing" would happen with this layout??

Any advice would be REALLY appreciated!

I got a little freaked today because the wedding is still 10 months away, and two of the hotels I checked with are already sold out! They are two of the ones nearest campus though. I'm still not sure what's going on, because it's not a home game weekend, but it could be something else on campus. Or certain groups hosting their conferences at those places, etc.

Everywhere else I have checked has availability. Even so, we are going to go soon (like next week or so) to check out a couple of them. I want to see a couple of the guest rooms, make sure the hotel overall is nice, not dirty looking or anything. I'm also checking out reviews on travel websites. I'd really like to look at some of the places on the west side of town, but that's probably last resort just because it's the furthest in driving time from the reception site.

How far in advance is everyone setting up their group blocks? Certainly doesn't hurt to have it in place, and to let guests know. I'm glad I found out now that some places are filling up!

Beckers Bridal- A. I give Beckers the best score possible because I was probably a difficult bride to please. I found one dress that everyone but myself thought was the one and after putting the deposit down I changed my mind and they let me use the deposit towards a credit for a different dress, one that I loved. They have a great selection and are willing to help. It is know "Say Yes To The Dress" treatment but they do the best they can. My mom also ordered her dress from there and when it came in the color was very ugly compared to the swatch that they showed it and they reordered the dress for her in black which she was so greatful for.

Letts Bridal D-. The only reason I do not give them an F is because after the complete disaster of bridesmaids dresses they did alterations very fast (in one day) and repressed all the dresses for free. A long story short, my 9 bridesmaid dresses were nearly 3 months late, I called a few times a day every day and was lied to over and over again from the workers and owner. To say the lease they gave me the run around claiming it was not their fault but the company Alfred Angelo, well after talking to Alfred Angelo come to find out the dresses were never ordered until the day I came in to pick them up. I have heard horror stories about wedding dresses not making it in by the wedding date, etc. I went with them because they were the cheapest but I would NOT recommend ever going there and if you order from them stay on top of them, maybe a weekly call to see how everything is going with the dresses.

Val from the RoseWood Inn AAAA- Val is the owner of the Rosewood Inn Bed and Breakfast and she does wedding out of her home (which is amazing). Because my wedding was in Nov, and she only has the space for a tent reception outside she was not able to host my wedding (she does a compete wedding for $15,000...so so so cheap), but she offered to do my flowers and my cake. I cannot describe how amazing she did. The flowers were like something out of a dream, it looked like she not only put her heart and soul into them but also about 10,000 dollars and we paid nowhere near that. The cake was wonderful, everyone was raving about it. If you are looking for a summer venue or for a person to do a wonderful job on flowers or cake call the Rosewood Inn and ask for Val.

Country Club of Lansing B. This was our reception venue and for the most part everything was done very nicely. The only problem was that I told them no shots, no more than 3 hard alcoholic beverages for one person and to cap the amount at $500 dollars for hard alcohol and once that was gone just stick to beer and wine. Well at the end of the night our bar bill was over by $1,000 so they did not do what they said they would and we were very suprised by that because they made it seem like they would keep an eye on cost. Besides that everything was great.

Perfection Limo B. The lady that drove us was very nice, she took care of me because that day was rainy and she followed me around with an umbrella and made sure my dress didnt get wet. The limo was alright, the radio worked but it seemed a little dirty, nothing to major and they give a great price so I really cant complain.

2 for 1 DJs (Cam) A. He was AMAZING. He was super fun and kept people out on the dance floor, he was also about $400 cheaper than anyone else I found. I highly recommend Cam for any event that you may need a DJ.

I am trying to save as much money as I can for my May wedding.

As I continue to read the message boards about how to save some money, all the posts are the same. For flowers it's find someone who does flower arrangements on the side who is building a portfolio. Or someone who does wedding cakes out of their house on the side. A student who is going to school for videography. A stampin up crafter to make invitations.
These are all AMAZING ideas, problem is how do I find these people.

So my questions is fellow brides.....Who do you know?

If anyone knows anyone who does these services, I would greatly appreciate it. Please leave their info so we can get ahold of them.

We are booked for the MSU chapel next October...going in, we knew about the 3 hour time blocks, but now I'm starting to worry about the time constraint. Has anyone else had their ceremony there? Were there any problems with the time? My photographer said she works there a lot, so she knows the set-up really well, and she said for pictures at the reception site she will need at least 2 hours. This is what has me worried! I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance. I can't imagine the ceremony itself would take more then 15-20 minutes. I also think we will do a "first look" so we can get a lot of pictures out of the way beforehand. We have not set the time for the reception to start yet, but I wonder what will happen if we have a lot of people show up early, and we're talking pictures? I know I probably shouldn't stress about this, since we are booked and it's more then a year away, but I can't help it. :) Thanks for any help
