Dress Vent

So I went dress shopping today (first time out!) and found it really frusterating to figure out which dress is the 'one' or even one that could be a contender when none of them fit! I get that there's going to need to be some alterations, but when stores have each dress style in only one size its hard to envision how it will look when it actually is the right size - has anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions on how to still find a dress?! Question about Shoes

I also posted this in the attire board but I thought I would put it on the local board as well to get any help that I could :) This is my first time ever asking a question on here but I know everyone is absolutely wonderful and beyond helpful so I'm looking forward to what you have to share :) I've been looking for shoes for my June wedding and think I may have actually found them! I've been looking for shoes in hopes of dyeing them Lapis (the David's Bridal color) to match my bridesmaids' dresses and was told that you can dye almost any white shoe. My question is, do you think these be dyeable with the rhinestones? (Link below)

I wouldn't want the stones to get ruined... Also, my fiance' is only 1" taller than I am (I'm 5' 9" and he's 5' 10") and I really don't want to be taller than him on our wedding day with shoes. How much height will he get from his shoes that he gets with his tux?

Help! Churches that allow non-members?

My fiancee and I are looking to get married in a church around the cities area. We dont have a specific town but really any of the suburbs are game! We are looking for a church that allows non-members to get married there without breaking the bank.
Does anyone know of nice churches that don't cost too much?!

Winter ceremony location?

We are getting married in the winter (January 2013). Our reception (and possibly ceremony) will be at Profile Event Center. I'm not sure if I like thier ceremony set up.. but I can't think of anywhere else in the winter, besides a church. We are not apposed to having it in a church--but my church is too far way. Any fun ideas??

So I am not sure if I am mad, sad, jealous, have hurt feelings or all of the above. One of my BM's just got engaged and another one of my BM's put together a happy hour for her with the group of girls we do dinner club with. No one did that for me:(

Do I say something? I know I need to let it go and I am sure when we have it, they will be happy for me as well....but still my feelings are hurt!

Outdoor Picture Locations! and Landmark Center Question

Hi, everyone!

I posted this question a few months ago, but I'm hoping to get some more varied responses this time around. My wedding is in early January, and I'd love some outdoor pictures of the bridal party! But realistically, there's no way we'll be able to stand outside without some heavy duty winter gear for very long. There's even the chance that it will be so cold out that we won't get any outdoor pictures at all.

So this big question is...where do we go for pictures? I need somewhere that has nice scenery outside (FI and I are more into natural settings than urban/industrial) but with the option of going indoors without spending more money (so not the Como conservatory!). We can't stay at our church because there is another wedding right after ours. Previously, people had suggested Rice Park. While I love it there, FI isn't totally sold on the idea and wants to keep looking. Any other suggestions? The ceremony is in St. Paul and reception is in Minneapolis, so either city (or their immediate surrounding suburbs) is fine with us.

Here's my next question: if we were to go to Rice Park, does anyone have any experience taking pictures inside the Landmark Center without having rented it for your ceremony/reception? From the sounds of their website, they are pretty lenient about it as long as you don't disturb anything going on inside, but I've been having trouble getting someone to return my calls and thought I'd see if anyone here had taken pictures there.

Okay, so I've been MIA lately - life is super crazy with the holidays and what not! (Including my brother in law becoming engaged 4 days following our wedding!) We are still trying to catch up on a bunch of things from our time off for the wedding! We finally booked our honeymoon and I am a happy girl as we will be heading to Antigua in February for a week then off to Florida for 4 days!!!!

Anyway, on to the part you want to see... our photographer posted photos today - we received our disk today as well and we LOVE them - DnK Photography truly was AMAZING!!! clicky

How late is too late on thank you cards

So my wedding was done a month ago. I wanted to send thank you cards with a professional pic on the thank you card. So first I had to wait a little over a month to get the pro-pic back. Then I had to make the actual card on mixbook and it will take 2 1/2-3 weeks before I will get. Then I will have to actually to write on the thank you cards and mail and I will have a lot going on with finals, holidays etc. So I might hit the 3 month mark before the thank you cards are sent. Is that too long....are people expecting a thank card by now?

We got the invitation for FI's Christmas party for work and it says 'Cocktail Attire Requested'. What exactly are they looking for? Drinks & dinner are at the White Bear Yacht Club. His work is very laid back as far as their dress code - everyone wears jeans every day so I'm a bit surprised at the "fancyness" of it.

We had planned on a summer/early fall wedding in 2013 BUT we just realized last night that FI's daughter is graduating high school that year so we're pushing the wedding out another year. We're having our own graduation party for her so the added expense means we can't do both in the same year. Plus trying to nail down a weekend in an already short season would be tough with her mom's party for her, ours, and including weekends for her friends' parties. I'm ok with it. I look at it as a test run for our reception which will resemble more of a backyard BBQ than a traditional reception.

My fiance and had to cut way back on our wedding costs. We had our ceremony booked at Trellis in Stillwater MN for October 6th, 2012. It is a beautiful venue, but we just cant make it work into our budget and had to cancel. The ladies that own it are a mother-daughter team and are wonderful to work with.

Just thought I would put it out there and see what happens!!

Hey ladies! This is my first post, so bare with me! :)

I've just started looking into venues, and I'm not really sure what I want yet! We are on a lower budget (15,000??) but it is flexible, I don't want to cheap out on anything. We are thinking anywhere from 200-300 guests. Also concidering a November wedding, or a friday wedding to cut costs without cutting quality :)

Somewhere around the Andover/Elk River area would be cool since that is where we are from, but we are also looking into the cities.

Only place I am looking at seriously is Profile Event Center.. I like it, but I'm definately not set on it. We are touring on Saturday.

Let me know any suggestions on venues, budgeting, or anything you think I should know!!

Also I was wondering if there is ever living social deals or groupons for dance classes for adults? I see them offered for childrens classes often but never for adults.

I know this question isn't for the Cities, but thought I'd post it here since this board gets so much for traffic than the general MN board.

My fiance and I are currently trying to plan our wedding and deciding between (semi)local and destination. A friend told me about a place she's seen in MN (maybe northern) that is on a cliff of a lake, but can't remember many details. She said it may be on Lake Superior, but it isn't in Duluth. She said it has a small covered area and the seating is half-log benches. I can't seem to find anything on the internet that is similar. Could you tell me if this rings a bell with anything you've seen or heard of? I've tried searching for places around Split Rock, but still haven't found what she's describing.

I had my first fitting today with Brenda from Amazing Alterations. I booked her based on reviews I'd heard here, and I'm glad I did. Her (from what I gather, rather new) office space is so cute and cozy. Very girly and comfortable. She was awesome and gave me a great deal on all that I'm getting done. Per her suggestion we are going to "bling" out my train a little more, which I'm kind of pumped about. :) I can't believe it is already time for my alterations, but I'm glad I made a good choice thanks to you knotties. :)
