Hi everyone!
I was on this board more when I was first engaged in the beginning of 2010, but I've gotten busy with the end of law school and the bar exam. I've been back lurking a bit for the last couple of weeks and our wedding is coming up quickly!
We're working on the last few details of our invites and we decided to do postcard reply cards, but I'm a little confused about addressing them. Obviously the postcards would be addressed to us, but what about the return address? Do we use our own address to be absolutely sure it gets to us or allow guests to fill it in with theirs? We will have a place for guests to write in their names and I'll be numbering all of them to keep track of who they are from, so should we use our address as the return address? TIA!

I need help!! I am looking for a reasonable videographer in the area. All I want is to be able to watch the ceremony and beginning of the reception over again with being able to actually hear what is being said. Any help would be awesome!! :)

I was updating some items on there for things we no longer want/need and noticed it says nothing has been purchased. We had a couples shower 2 weeks ago and we received things from there off our registry but it says it hasn't been bought?!?!

just got my bridal shoes in the mail, what do you think?
they are dyed purple to match my color theme, got them online from myglassslipper.com, i think they did a great job as they look great and are really comfortable. The best part is they are only 2.5 inches so i wont have sore feet, now cant wait to wear them ..next year!

Wedding Planners/Coordinators? Any recommendations?!!

hey all -
i'm trying to finda wedding coordinator (could be month of, week of and DEFINATELY day of...) also want to find someone to help me hone a coehesive wedding vision... this may or may not be the same person. i don't have a huge extravaggant budget, but its not super limited either.

Has anyone used Stephanie from Tble 6 productions? Did she deliever? And exactly how expensive were her services?

Also, very interested in Sarah Trotter from Lasting Impressions Wedding Services (which seems like a really complete service for a decent price), has anyone used her services or knows anyone who has?

It's SO hard to tell exactly how well the services promised by coordinators and stylists really translate.

Thanks for any insights you can offer!

We are very early the in planning stages andwe are trying to narrow down some possible venues. We're planning from afar so I'm trying to learn all that I can online before we select a few places to visit in person.
There were a number of venues that I really liked that use Mintahoe as their exclusive caterer. I've been on their website and I've tried to find an idea of prices on there and using other online searches. I just want to know if I can plan something within my budget or if I should cross these venues off my list. Does know the approximate price range for dinner? Is there anyone out there with any additional feedback on them good or bad?

I actually had these in my Bio for a couple weeks and sent them out last week, but I was happy to hear that so many people that have received them have thought they were gorgeous. I was one that thought invites don't really matter but did a pocketfold because it was kinda fun to design and pretty reasonably priced to DIY it.

I am so glad I did it now. A lot of people I guess haven't even seen pocketfold invites before either. Woot! And it is hard to tell in these pics, but the cream paper is sparkly with gold which adds a TON to the total look.

Hi all,

we toured the calhoun beach club tonight and actually found everything we were hoping for in a venue. We wanted an indoor ceremony and reception site, for around 150, and both are gorgeous there. I've heard that once you find something you like available on your date you should book asap, but I'm still incredibly nervous that I just haven't "shopped around" enough. How many places should you tour before you know you've found the best one? has anyone been there for a wedding? am I being ridiculous to want to keep looking after i've found something thats what I want?

I FINALLY went to the SS office on Monday (what a scary place). And they kept my marriage certificate.. Then I read online when you go to change your drivers license, you need the marriage certificate.. Um, I don't have it!

So, we are not big drinkers and I don't want to spend a lot of money buying drinks for other people when I could spend it on other things that really matter to me, like a better dinner option or a photo booth, etc.

We noticed that most places give you an option for a cash bar, open bar or drink tickets. I was hoping we could say beer/wine will be covered to a certain dollar amount or for a certain amount of time but I don't think that's an option with our vendor.

How do drink tickets work? Is it tacky to hand out drink tickets at your reception and how do you even do that"? Walk table to table? And what's the 'appropriate' amount of drink tickets to give per person for a 3 hour reception?

Help! I don't know what to do!

My fiance and I are house hunting but don't know if we'll have a place by next summer or where it will be! My parents' house has a TINY bathroom! I AM ANGRY.I got engaged last November and bought my dress in November. I felt totally pushed into it, like the salesgirl was just trying to make the sale. I was uncomfortable, but they kept telling me it was perfect for me, and that if I wait too long my dress wont come in time so I need to make the purchase soon. I also wasn't allowed to take a photo in the dress unless i bought it. Now it is August. Last time I tried it on at the end of July, it felt far away from my chest, like I just kept wanting to hold my chest, keeping the dress close to me. This dress is not right for my body. THEY DID NOT WORK WITH ME to try to find the RIGHT dress for MY body. They made assumptions that a pretty dress could be altered every single way I needed it to be. I basically needed a different dress. I am very upset with Macy's, they said it would be great, that it would be altered to fit me, and it does not, and it probably wont. I can not believe I will have two kinds of stuffing to fill in the huge gap in the chest, and that I will need to tape it to myself. I can't believe that in order to make this dress fit me, I have had to foot the bill and pay for alterations that WOULDN'T BE NEEDED if this dress was more appropriate for my body. I AM MAD!!! This feeling has not gone away in 8 months, and I can't take it anymore. If this dress doesn't fit me like a glove on August 19, I don't know what I'm going to do. THEY NEED TO MAKE THIS RIGHT. I can't hold this in anymore. I just want to go over there and scream at the girl who talked me into it, feeding me a bunch of crap about it being altered perfectly, that they can do anything, that it will be great. It has been anything but great. Now, 31 days away from my wedding day, I have THE DRESS, the big white dress, that should be the most amazing dress of my life, and i am totally uncomfortable in it. It feels like it just doesn't fit, and I can guarantee that the alterations they are working on right now will not help. I want to call macy's and see when that lady is going to really finish the stuff she is working on right now, and see if I don't have to wait until the 19th for my next fitting. I can't take this anymore. I want to know this is REALLY going to be ok.

Mine was $480! I didn't think it would be so darn expensive. I needed a hem, dart front, some nips and tucks on the side, cups, under bustle and professional pressing (my dress needs to be professionally ironed, not steamed). I don't have any beading or lacing, just ruching and its made of silk shantung. Well, my seamstress has had rave reviews and been in the business for a long time so at least I know it will look good! I didn't want to risk it by going to some bad place like davids bridal.

I have been looking at the websites of various Twin Cities videographers (I like the videos done by Highlights Video (www.highlightsvideography.com)and/">http://www.highlightsvideography.com)and Capture the Moment (http://ctmoments.com/wp/?page_id=2) )and they all feature short "music videos" of the couple, different scenes from the wedding pieced together.

My question is, is that all a professional videographer gives you or do you get raw footage as well? I'd like to have a copy of my ceremony beginning to end, and footage of all the dumb toasts and all that too.
