Has anybody taken pictures outside for a winter wedding with their bouquets? I was just warned by my florist that my flowers will die if I take them out into the cold below 32 degrees but we wanted to get some pictures outside in the snow. Any advice appreciated from the winter wedding brides!

The bridal boutique recommended Libia Pollens Bridal Tailoring. They mentioned it is out of a woman’s home in Omaha. Therefore I am a little skeptical, but also because I can’t find any info on this woman or her business. There are also no reviews out there, that I can find at least. Has anyone heard of or used Libia Pollens Bridal Tailoring? If so, how was your experience?

We are having the darndest time figuring out our wedding day schedule. We are not doing a first look and our wedding and reception hall are about 15 minutes apart. We are having a live band and 2 food trucks are catering our wedding. We are having an open bar for 5 hours and would like to do a send off.

Hello,

We are Ryan and Laurel. We wanted to share a little about ourselves, and hope to hear more information about your photography services!

We are Catholic, and strive to glorify God in our daily lives. We do this especially through loving and serving others. “You did it to me.” We have been dating for just over 11 months, and have been focused on building a strong friendship. One of the ways in which we have done so is by not kissing or being overly physically intimate—our goal is to have our first kiss on the altar—so far, so good!

Ryan has recently started his own business, Pro-Life Automotive. He works as a car mechanic, small engine repairman, and tree trimmer. He comes from a family of five, with one brother and one sister. He is a godfather to his only niece and takes this role very seriously, as he does with all things Catholic. He is a former member of the Intercessors of the Lamb, a religious community that was suppressed by the Archdiocese of Omaha in 2010.

Laurel works for Catholic Charities in their Family Services Department. Her main responsibilities are to their Mentoring Moms program and their post-adoption (search and reunion) services. She also provides administrative support to their Pregnancy Counseling and Adoption services. She comes from a family of seven, with 1 brother and 3 sisters.

As Catholics, we wish to support business owners who have similar values. As such, we do not wish to work with photographers who offer boudoir photography or take images of a similar subject or that convey a similar message. We say this with respect, and ask for your respect and your honesty if you do offer these services.

Our wedding will be October 1. We are going to be married at 10 AM at St. James Catholic Church, with a reception to follow at Immaculate Conception Recreation Center--we're going bowling! (There will still be plenty of dancing though!) Our wedding aim is family fun friendly and casual, but not to the point of low quality.

We are interested in possibly having a reduced rate with the morning wedding...though it is not absolutely necessary! We would need a photographer from 9 AM-3 PM, and those times are somewhat flexible.

Im planning an Indo-american planning, with me being of Indian Heritage and my fiance being American. Its very important that both cultures are reflected in the wedding, so looking for any recommendations on photographers who can capture the beauty of both American and Indian elements and traditions. Also for DJ's who can start the crowd on some electric slide and keep them going on some bollywood music. If you have any other tips, I would highly appreciate it.

Affordable reception hall

Hello, I am still in the process of looking for a reception hall. I am not originally from Omaha so I'm not sure what the best places are. Any advice? I want to try to keep the reception cost with food and everything as close to 1000 as possible. We also want to bring in our own caterer. We are looking at getting married next May. We've looked at a few places like the DAV, a vfw, and the omaha police officers hall. I've also seen its an event social hall/blondo social hall but have not been able to get ahold of them

Free Wedding Decorations - Omaha, NE

We were just married at the beginning of January and have a ton of decorations left over...no room to keep it though. My mom and I spent quite a bit of time and money making little extras for the wedding and I can't bring myself to throw it all away. So if you are on a budget I would like to give you a wedding gift, all you have to do is meet me and pick it all up. There are 200 little bubbles favors, over 20 kids coloring book and crayon favors, ivory pew bows, Bridal budget wedding planning books, various baskets and chalkboards, ivory ring bearer pillow, ivory flower girl basket, etc.

Need wedding dress help

I'm getting married in April and I'm in kind of a tough spot. I bought a dress back in May, but recently found out I'm going to need shoulder surgery and will have a huge incision site that won't be healed back over by the wedding. I considered having sleeves added, but it won't work with the dress style. I'm now stuck trying to find a new dress quickly. Since I'm going to have a huge amount of medical bills coming up from the surgery, and I've already spent my entire wedding dress budget, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where I could find an inexpensive but still good quality and beautiful dress. Barn Venue in Omaha - Is this impossible?

Hello Ladies,

My Fiance and I are trying to find a barn venue close to Omaha, NE to do a wedding around September 27, 2014.

I checked a few places so far and would really appreciate if anyone has some insight because at this point, I am getting worried that we won't be able to find the venue we need.

Here is what I am looking for:

1) ANY barn/rustic themed building where we could do a reception inside (if necessary - we will do it inside)

2) A reasonably priced venue

3) A venue that allows us to bring in our own food/cake.

Here is what I have already discovered:

Scottlyn Yard: Closed due to safety code issues...man I spoke with doesn't know when they will be back up and running.

The Lodge: Too expensive! They charge a MINIMUM of $7,000 for food and drinks....don't allow you to bring in your own food. Also, they require that 30 rooms are rented at the lodge in order to fufill your contract. Which, doesnt work because all of the people will be from Omaha, and I doubt we could get 30 people to stay @ the lodge, especially b/c the price per room is around $140/night.

Glass Chapel & Banquet Barn: They only have Fridays and Sundays left and its located in Shelby, IA...which is close to Omaha.

Ackerhurt Dairy Barn: Closed

Bellevue Berry Farm and Pumpkin Ranch: Don't have 9/27/13 open for the barn. They only have the moose lodge room available....lets just say it is NOT ideal for a wedding.... Other than that, the prices are okay. Its about $22 a head and that includes the price of the room with each persons meal. They have to provide the beverages (alcohol).

Does anyone else know of a place with a rustic feel, that wont be too expensive, open in september???

Getting married oct of 2015. i have a toatal budget of $5000 for 100 people. we need an indoor facility that does everything from linens to food preferably. Any ideas?? Magnolia Hotel Costs--OUCH!

The Magnolia Hotel is beautiful and the wedding coordinator is very nice, but I'm starting to think having a ceremony there wasn't the best idea. The rental fee, while high, wasn't a surprise but all the other costs are insane. They charge $150 if you throw rose petals because someone has to sweep them up. (Which means we are doing cliched bubbles instead.) They also only allow one complimentary suite to get ready in (for me and my bridesmaids), which means my groom and his groomsmen would have to pay $119 (their standard room rate) to get dressed in one of the rooms for one hour! ONE HOUR. (Which means they will be getting ready at our house in West Omaha and have to drive downtown in their tuxes.) They charge $150 if you want to use one of their arches (we're borrowing one for free from our decorator.) Arches cost $40 at Manglesens.Just thought I'd give someone a heads-up if they're considering the Magnolia. I can't imagine what it costs to have a ceremony AND a reception there.

Warning - Jone Z party bus

Hey Omaha brides - I am a former Omaha knottie, married in Omaha several years ago. I wanted to pop back in to share a warning about using Jone-Z party bus as your wedding transportation. Although not for a wedding, we had a Jone-Z bus reserved for my sis' 30th birthday party. The day before the party, my sister called ask if Jone-Z lost their license. She'd seen it on the news and was curious if it was true. I hadn't heard from the company, so I began calling and emailing....to no response. We were left scrambling, trying to find an alternative in 24 hours. Though I was frustrated, I felt more sorry for the poor brides and grooms that were also left scrambling the weeks or even day before their weddings. Now, even a month later, I have yet to hear one word from Jone-Z. Their contract states that customers must provide them 7-days cancellation notice, yet Jone-Z does not offer that same guideline. I wish I would have done a little more research before I booked them. Word-of-mouth and online reviews indicate my experience with Jone-Z is not unique. Please spare yourself the hassle and book with any other of the reputable buses or limos for your wedding!

I've read a post about the Ackerhurst Dairy Barn in Omaha/Bennington, but responses were from 2011 and 2012 saying the barn was closing. I was looking online and found wedding posts in 2013 that were of weddings at the Dairy Barn. Does anyone know if it reopened? And if it did do you know their contact information?

Hi all,

This is my first post and I just need a few pointers. I am NOT a fan of everyone looking at me, getting pictures taken of me and just being the center of attention in general. This could prove to be a problem as we are having a rather large 300 person wedding/reception! I never considered this to be a problem until I went to try on dresses. My initial shopping trip was with just my mom, and that was ok, but then after I found the dress I had about 15 of my closest girls/family come check it out and give the thumbs up. That second time made me feel incredibly nervous, uncomfortable and scared, with everyone crying and awing over me. Has anyone had these feelings? If so, what are you doing or have you done to get over these feelings? I just want to feel comfortable in the spotlight since it will be for a whole day!

Barn Venues-Omaha Metro Area

The only two I know of are closed.. Ackerhurst (Bennington) and Scottlyn Yards (Blair). I would really appreciate some advice Thank you!

I used AAT Video, Inc. for video and photography. They were amazing!! (and very reasonable!) Jeanne went above and beyond for us with everything. She was also very organized. We have not gotten the final video back yet, but we have gotten our hilite video. -Amazing! They are so talanted, I definitely recommend them to everyone! Oh and she also posted a teaser video a few days after the wedding on facebook. Here's a link to our hilite video. Also if you're thinking about doing your wedding at the Ackerhurst Dairy Barn, that's where we did ours so you can see what it looks like for a wedding! Enjoy!
