2015 Valley Regency Brides??

Hi, all.

This venue hunting is more stressful than I imagined.

So, we made all of our appointments to see potential venues this weekend and I was wondering about Valley Regency pricing.

They gave me a rough price per person through email but slightly over my budget.

Do they work with you about the price? Will I be able to negotiate with them to get it down with some modifications?

I does look beautiful in pictures and it is pretty close to my church.

Please help.

Stressing out! Hunt for North NJ venue

Evening, ladies!

I got engaged late August and underestimated the stress and hunt to secure down a wedding venue in north NJ. I started around a week ago (did not realize people start looking and booking up to 2 years in advance) and have become very discouraged. So far, the FI and I have looked at Martime Parc, Sheraton Mahwah, and Rockleigh Country Club. I fell in love with Rockleigh but unfortunately their earliest Friday was mid November and we were looking for a late Summer/early Fall wedding date (due to season, schedule..).

We have approx. 120 guests and would need to do an indoor ceremony and reception at one site. We originally wanted a Saturday but realized it may not be doable given the number of guests and budget so we are open to up to140/pp for a Friday night.

I am going to look at Biagio's Terrace in Paramus, Old Tappan Manor, Seasons Catering, and perhaps Il Villagio's in Carlstadt this week.

Any thoughts on these places? I am so discouraged! Any recommendations would also be greatly appreciated

I am a born and raised Virginia girl marrying a born and raised Jersey boy. Because of his love for New Jersey, and the AMAZING weddings I've attended in the Garden State, we have decided to have our wedding there!

In saying that, I have no idea what florists or photographers are in the area and are good/affordable. I would LOVE suggestions from anyone that is from New Jersey, or any girls like me that got married/are getting married in New Jersey and found great vendors! Problems with our florist (Brandywine)

Hi all,

Our wedding was just a couple of weeks ago, on October 12. We had some issues with our florist and I was wondering if there was anything we could do about it.

When we met with Arlene from Brandywine to finalize everything and order our huppah, we explained exactly where we wanted it placed - outside of the wrought iron gazebo that's in the ceremony space at our venue, Highlawn Pavilion. We even went over all of the reasons it couldn't be placed elsewhere when Arlene made suggestions about other ways to set it up. We wanted it to be outside of the gazebo so that all of the people who would be standing there with us would be more visible.The morning of my wedding, as I was getting ready, I got a call from Claus, her business partner, asking where we wanted it set up - inside or outside of the gazebo. I said, "outside," and everyone in the room heard me say it. When we got there for pictures, it was set up inside the gazebo. Our venue called the florist, who insisted I said "inside." Claus then called my cell phone and left a long message saying I said "inside," and either way, he was already back in East Brunswick and couldn't do anything. When my mom spoke to him on Monday, he continued to insist that I said inside and that the flowers looked beautiful. They did, but we would have not spent the money on the huppah, which was by far the most expensive part of our order, if it was just going to go inside the gazebo, which defeated its purpose.

I was shocked that they didn't even apologize or offer a partial refund or anything. Any advice, or do we just have to let this one go?

Name Change

Sorry if this has been asked before... I tried to look through the NJ forums, but so far didn't see anything like this.

After we get married we are both changing our last name to a new last name... Will this be a problem because our marriage license will have our former last names? Not sure how this works if it's not the typical girl changes her last name to guy's last name. I know in NJ to change your name outside of marriage you typically have to petition the court, etc. I am really hoping I don't have to go through that hassle. Was wondering if anyone else had experience with this? Can we just go about our name change process and just "pick" a new last name by going through SS like everyone else?

Small wedding & budget

I am need of assistance to plan my wedding. I have been with my fiancee for over 4 years. We have 3 children together and just want to get married. I want a small intimate wedding since we have a small budget of $5000. He wants a great reception with not keeping in mind the budget. Most places I find have a $100 per person. I feel that is a bit much for a wedding that will include 55-60 people. Am I being unreasonable? The stress of the planning makes me just want to get married at the courthouse and call it a day...However I have been waiting for this day all my life and want it to be memorable.

Limos and prom conflict

I am running into problems with getting a party bus booked for a wedding on Friday 6/5! Everyone wants to jack up the prices by nearly $600 because it's prom season Was quoted a rate and when I called back the next day to book another rep says oh no that's a prom date and it will be 600 more! Plan on calling back tomorrow when the original rep is in but since I have nothing in writing don't think I have a chance. Anyone run into this?

Rain Site for Pictures in Central/Northern NJ

My fiance and I are getting married in June and unfortunately we cannot go to our venue, the Westmount Country Club, until a half hour before our wedding begins because there is a bar miztvah before our wedding. Even if it rains we wouldn't be able to go there for pictures and have been searching for indoor locations with no luck. Does anybody have any indoor places they know pictures can be taken. Maybe places in Fairleigh Dickinson campus or Seton Hall or Montclair.

Alright ladies, I am very interested in the Black Bear Country Club owned by crystal springs! It looks amazing and appears to be in my budget but I am hearing many different prices people have paid per person from 65 to 110! That's a big difference and I am trying to stay within 65-75 range! Hi there!

I'm interested in getting some suggestions for an alternative, non-traditional venue. I like the idea of Triumph Brewery in Princeton however it is a bit south from us and would ideally like something in Northern NJ/NY. Can be extremely flexible with amount of guests (between 80-135) and ideally searching for a place with an outdoor ceremony space for June or August 2015. Anything along the lines of a brewery or chic loft space would be great. Any help is appreciated!!

Rockleigh Brides -Hotel Block

Hi!

I am looking for a hotel block near the rockleigh or in surrounding rockland that I can arrange a hotel block. I would like it to have either a bar onsite that stays open late or in walking distance. I would also need it to provide shuttle service to the venue.

Two that i am looking into are the Pearl River Hilton and the Hilton Woodcliff lake.
