Ok -- so when I booked my wedding (ceremony & reception) at The Manor for the Sunday before Memorial Day, I thought I was being so clever, getting the Sunday price for a holiday weekend when most will be off work the following day. Additionally, a vast amount of my guests and bridal party will be traveling all the way from Florida for the wedding, so I wanted to have the extra travel days.

WELL, what I was not apprised of when I booked my wedding, was the fact that The Manor does not hold ceremony rehearsals on Saturday. When I called to speak to Rolph about this issue, he was not in the office (as usual), so I was put in touch with Preston instead. WHAT A POMPOUS ASS. He acted like "So what am I supposed to do about it? It's the rules, you figure it out" ! Incredibly pretentious and unhelpful. When I pointed out that there is just NO way that I am the only bride to have had this issue, his response was "Well, actually, most brides understand that we have events on Saturdays and cannot accomodate a rehearsal" ! I swear if I could have reached through the phone and strangled him at that point, I would have.

He said my only option was to *possibly* have the rehearsal at NINE IN THE MORNING on Saturday. Which means my entire bridal party and close family have to fly in Friday night instead of Saturday morning and stay an extra night in the overpriced hotels in the West Orange area. And he said he won't know for sure if this is an option until 3-4 months before my wedding!

WHAT DO I DO?! Has any other Sunday Manor brides had this issue?! Did you find a solution?

I am so stressed about this. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!

We already have our venue chosen as my uncle is one of the owners and operators but we are looking elsewhere to have our ceremony on May 15, 2015.

We are looking for somewhere such as a botanical garden, estate, or historical site. We are looking for that old timey estate with the class and elegance of the huge beautiful grounds and ceremony areas, but don't care too much for the over glorified fanciness of a lot of the venues in the northern Jersey area that are often very expensive. So far the best example I think I could provide for an example of what we are looking for by looks and feel would be 'The Park Savoy" but not necessarily everything about it, just the estate and historic feel of it.

We've had trouble finding places like this that aren't already all decked out for a full wedding and catering that will charge an arm and a leg for their services and not want to just book our ceremony when they could book someone else for the whole deal. And looking at some places that advertise rates as high as $5000 or more, it just seems a little out of our reach when other smaller places have been found for under $1000.

Using TK and some other resources we've found a few possibilities but can anyone provide some insight into some places that might work with what we're looking for?

Our home is in Montville, NJ 07045.

Our venue is the Buona Sera Pallazo in Ocean Township, NJ 07712.

Bride's family is mostly coming from the Toms River area (08755)

Groom's family coming from mostly Northern NJ (Morris & Sussex counties), Long Island, NY, and some from out of town that will have to fly in.

So our goal is to try and find the best place that has what we are dreaming of in a ceremony site, doesn't mind only booking us for a ceremony and some pictures as well as not charging us a king's ransom to do so because they are used to getting the rate for a full wedding, and would be within the area of those towns listed above so it can be somewhat close to our guests or more importantly our reception venue.

Thank you in advance for any and all help!

Has anyone visted or held their wedding at the newly renovated Water's Edge in Bayville, NJ? The venue got destroyed by Sandy and was completely redone, but there are no inside photos online of the renovated space. The event coordinator said they are trying to get new photos availablle ASAP. We are interested but live rather far away (an hour and half) to travel there without having even seen photos. Any thoughts or comments on the new venue? How many people can it seat? The coordinator told me 220, but its been my expereince that these places always overestimate and it would be way too crowded with that many. Thanks in advance!

Hi Ladies,

I am a Palace bride and am looking into florists. We've already met with Rose Petals and Lace and A Touch of Elegance. My FI and I would like to meet with another florist to compare it to. Rose Petals and Lace gave us a written out estimate where everything is broken down, A Touch of Elegance didn't and we don't have a rough estimate to go by then.
Thanks for the help in advance.

Debating between Flower Elegance and Petals Premier. Anyone have any experience with them? Anna at Flower Elegance is the in house florist for my venue and therefore has an extremely thorough knowledge and vision. Price (from what I can tell from estimates is comparable). Any advice is helpful!

I'm looking to wed in August so I'm looking around at different venues so I can make a final decision in the next few weeks. Addison Park was on the top of my list because I have heard how beautiful the location is as well as the food etc and knew it was in my price range. I have yet to have any issues with venues that I have contacted - great customer service and very prompt at responding to e-mails/calls UNTIL this venue. I sent over an e-mail to request menus and the following day I received an email saying to contact Anthony on the phone. I called and ended up having to leave a message. 24 hours goes by and no call back. I know how busy Banquet Managers can be so I sent over an e-mail just asking if I could have info sent to me via email. They obviously do not want to give any information via email so I had to give my number again. I later on received a call from a gentlemen named Ed. Ed was not only cold but I felt like it was a hassle that he had to call me to give me information. He was NOT helpful what so ever and you would think that at almost $200 a plate they would have a little better customer service. Sorry Addison Park... while I could afford your venue, I rather save myself from what seems like many months of a headache leading up to what should be a very special day!

Just wanted to share my experience because I was totally taken back by this. Hopefully it was just a bad day...

Our venue charges the standard 20% service charge, but with my wedding sneaking up on us, we are trying to figure out other tips. A lot of the venues we looked at had a suggested maitre d gratuity of about 4%. At our venue, we do not have a miatre d, but we have two people running the show ( Head of Operations and our Catering contact), 2 captains and a bridal attendant. I asked for a bit of guidance since other venues gave suggestions and was told that the captains and bridal attendant typically get $75-$100. However, I'm kind of at a loss when it comes to the other two. Do I treat them like the maitre d and split that 4% between them? Should we tip them both approximately that much? Should it be something totally different? Any thoughts?
