Anyone have an recommendations? I live in Yonkers and I'm getting married at Beckwith Pointe in New Rochelle.

I usually get my hair done in NYC, but my usual place would charge $300 just to do my hair, and $150 each for the bridesmaids. I was told that is a very high price. So I'd like to do trials at other salons. I'm just not familiar with any.

As far as makeup goes, I don't have any ideas of who to use. Are there a lot of places that will provide both services? And will the makeup artists do trial runs as well?

Not sure if it matters, but I want my hair done very simply (meaning no elaborate up-dos). I'm planning on wearing it down with maybe just a little bit clipped back. Maybe something like this.

I went it thinking I'd start looking, but ended up finding my dream dress.
Tina was amazing (she and her Mom run/own the shop). I was the only bride there and I received her undivided attention. She made my Mom and I feel so welcome and she was simply amazing.
If you're looking for a great experience and a great dress, you certainly need to check them out! They carry a selection of designers, including Maggie Sottero (which is who designed my dress).

For instance I have heard nothing but great things on the board about The DJ Company, and how reasonable the prices are so I went ahead and contacted them and asked them for some pricing and it is insane! $10,000 for a Rockland county DJ??? I'm sorry but doesn't that same outrageous? I have previously met with Jimmy Dee (who I heard was more expensive) and they quoted me at $5,000. Has anyone else experienced higher rates because of the date of their wedding? They are looking at her cell phone records to see if they include any unusual activity. Currently, they say, Watson's phone is not turned on and can't be used in the search.

As of Tuesday evening, more than 15,000 people have joined a Facebook group dedicated to finding Watson and fliers are posted through several parts of New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Watson is described as having dark highlighted, blond hair and brown eyes.
I am planning on maybe visitng/getting info on both of these hotels. What I am really wondering about is the next day brunch and if anyone know how it is? Like if the food is good? We may do it for the out of towners.

Did anyone/is anyone also saying at the hotel the night of their wedding or are you going home? Just wondering this because my mom was saying we should probably all stay esp. if we have the brunch so we don't have to drive back in the morning.

I was also thinking about how many rooms, and maybe to assume that some local people may want to stay? You never know...including my family plus out of towners I alreeady up to 12 rooms so I'm thinking maybe 15 to be safe?

Do they require any money from us for the blocking?

The two I am wondering about our the Mariott at New Roc City and the Radisson New Rochelle. If anyone has any info/suggestions that would be great!

Thanks :)

Hi!
My fiance and I are planning an October 2011 wedding, and we're having a tough time finding a reception venue that's reasonably close to home. We're getting married in our home parish, and we're looking for a place to hold the reception - what's a reasonable distance to be traveling to the reception? The groom lives about 15 minutes away from the church, and I'm right down the street. Does anyone know an efficient way to search for venues in the Hudson Valley?
Thanks for the help in advance!!

Could anyone reccomend an affordable photo booth resource? I was just quoted $1250 by a photog who said he would take off $250 is I did a photo package with him as well, but I think that sounds crazy. Is this a normal price?? I've noticed that a lot of places offer the scrapbook for an additional $200-$300 wtf!?!?!? I can get the scrapbook/supplies that I want from ACMoore for about $50. Am I just crazy or does this sound like a lot of money? TIA

So I had another meeting w/ my florist. I'm glad I stuck to my guns. I wans't happy w/ the first centerpiece as I'm trying to make my centerpiece work for dual purposes for my ceremony (going down the aisle to be placed on grecian columns w/ tulle) so I changed the shape of the centerpiece and added more flowers. My whole theme is with roses.

Here's my dilemma..
My FI obviously will be wearing a white rose. The groomsmen will be wearing pink roses which is the same as what my girls are carrying. My brother is giving me away and basically the florist suggested all the men look uniform and they should all have pink flowers. Now 2 of my brother in laws are also getting a rose (I wanted them to feel part of the wedding) however my sister's (their wives who aren't in the wedding party either) the florist suggested they have white roses as a corsage. I think it's going to look weird in pics. Their husbands having a pink rose on their lapel yet they'll be sporting a white corsage. Is it me? Should I change the corsages to pink roses to match everyone else? OR just add 1 pink rose in the middle of the corsage? I don't wanna sound like a weirdo and have the florist run for the hills cause I'm placing another call to him. What do you think?

Thanks for your help on this.
I was thinkin a peep toe or a sandal but want some bling on it. I tried on 2 pairs from an online site,,,they were sandals but I was trying to imagine myself balancing me in a dress w/ these sandals and I felt like I was gonna walk out in them, grrr. I still have time but its one more thing on my list :-) that I'd like to check off.
Maybe I should wait for January - perhaps they'll be newer Grandma styles w/ bling on them? hahahaha

hey everyone, hope this helps.....

Reception Venue: DoubleTree Hotel, Tarrytown, NY (A): We booked with them a long time before the wedding. Throughout the process we had dealt with a slew of different people. Overall though, the venue was beautiful, the food was fantastic and with each new person we dealt with, they were all courteus and prompt with responses (mostly via email). The hotel blocks were reasonable and they had a renovation not too long ago and everything was perfect. Very reasonably priced, everything was negotiable and the cookies at check in were so yummy!!!

Limo Company: Silverstar Limo, Yonkers, NY (A): We booked silverstar because they had the biggest limo in NYS. We chose that one and it was great. It was super stretch that can hold up to 30 adults. We had about 15 adults and it was comfortable, probably would stretch it to about 20-22 people confortably (i had a big dress). The driver was AWESOME he helped at church for the ceremony, was completely professional and courteous and the limo was very clean. Very much on time as well.

Photo Booth: That's Entertainment, Harrison, NY (A): THe photo booth was a huge hit!! The two guys who manned it were great. We had unlimited photos, black and white and color and all of our guests really enjoyed it. The company was super nice and professional.

Florist: Bed of Roses, Yonkers, NY (B): The flowers were really beautiful, exacty what i wanted. The overall experience with the vendor is what brings the "b." I felt as though we were being told repeatedly what a good deal we were getting (not so sure since he was recommended and i didnt look anywhere else). Our contract stated that we would have blue water in our tall vases with LED lights and at the last minute we paid an extra 100$ to have another tall arrangement added for our card table. Well, the blue water and led lights for vases were non existent and neither was the extra arrangement i paid for. when i called after the fact, we received an apology but not a refund but were promised a credit for 100$ since some of the tall vases were missing from either the guests or the venue. At one time, we were shown blue roses that were "imported" but it appeared they have been spray painted via us hearing the spray can as well as smelling it from the back room.

Photographer: H&H Photographers, Irvington, NY (A): Dan was great to work with. He is super understanding fought hard to earn our business. Our photographer was Fred and his assistant was Al. They were both great! They were on time and were really nice to work with. Our engagement photos were great and we cant wait to see the real photos.

Videographer: Alliance Video Productions, Tabernacle, NJ (A): Tom was fantastic! He is super nice and professional and was 100% unobtrusive throughout the ceremony and the reception. He got some awesome video of us that we are not even sure the photgrapher was able to get. We purchased the package where we received a 5 minute trailer of our video while on the honeymoon and it was perfect. Can't wait to see the whole video.

Invitations: The Giving Tree, Newtown, PA (A). Our invitations were great. Becky was super helpful and was very flexible with her schedule to work with us. Our thank you cards are also from her as well.

Dress: Pronovias, New York, NY (B): I purchased my dress the first day out. The purchasing experience was great but once i purchased teh dress everything was downhill from there. the staff was rude, they were not accommodating at all. Our seamstress was very nice and did a great job and my dress was beautiful.

Cake and Groom's Cake: Plaza Sweets Bakery, Mamaroneck, NY (A) Our wedding cake was included with the reception. We had a tasting and all the cakes were delicious. They basically told us we could have anything we wanted and to send them a photo from online and they would re created it and that they did. Our cake was fantastic, exactly like the photo we showed them. The groom's cake was amazing as well. YUM

Bridesmaid Dresses: Coronet Bridal, Feasterville, PA (A). I chose bari jay dresses and this shop is very reasonably priced and everyone was very courteous.

Bridesmaid and Groomsman Gifts: Creative Wood Designs By Dami, Quakertown, PA (A) Had to add this because I fell in love with their wood work and they specially made gifts for my girls that are not available to the public. I have many of their pieces in my home and had to share their great work with everyone!!

Tuxedos: Alfredo's Formal Wear, Feasterville, PA (A). Super reasonably priced, great selection.

Flowergirl Dresses, Tokens of Affection, Newtown, PA (A): Awesome selection, very reasonably priced. Great service.
