Rose groups first part of its
lease is going to expire this year so anyone that books a party with them,
might lose their deposit since they are suing their landlord. Obviously their landlord wants them out. The
rose group is being sued by a former black worker who has a picture of a lawn
jockey that one of the owners had at his place. He says he was fired for
complaining about being checked for theft while people that aren’t black weren’t
checked.

the owner/GM, John Rose , who threatened us 1 month prior to
our wedding of cancelling our wedding while he did not honor what was in our
contract as a 6 hour event. He used the initial proposal as an excuse to switch
it to a 5 hour event even after Guastavinos staff confirmed our event being a 6
hour event. John Rose wrote me and my wife aggressive emails, 1 of them
starting "Stop it" and had absolutely left a bad taste in our mouth
even when we tried to explain the situation. He was very aggressive throughout
the emails and phone calls, absolutely has no respect to his customers. At the
end of the day, he will remain as the person who did not honor our written
contract. The owner told us he wouldn't relinquish control of
security in case he had to keep the doors shut if we didn't pay, and that we
had to go through him for any security requests (we had to pay for security).
Upon releasing the hold on the venue, we got the photo attached. He also
requires you to use preferred partners for companies he owns so he can make
more

Should
have learned my lesson the first time, after witnessing the owners abuse
staff, on purpose, in front of wealthy clientele. The clients and the
owners humiliated these workers after giving them conflicting directions.
This year witnessed similar culture against workers, and three of us had
to walk out because it was so shocking to see immigrants and young workers
so unfairly treated. I would never go hear again. watered down drinks are your thing then you
     might like this place.

     I

A lot of people at the event had the same complaints. The staff are so
unbelievably rude and unprofessional the senior staff) I just can't
understand how they even have jobs.

a man entered the building
and started yelling "Where is the f*cking doorman???" He then
proceeded to yell at the staff and scream obscenities. Eventually he got in the
face of one of the staff members and told him "F*cking stand outside. I
don't care if you are not wearing a jacket or hat!" He then proceeded to
take off his jacket and scarf and throw them on the floor, demanding that
someone pick them up and take them to the coat room. have never seen someone
treat people with such disrespect. When the man was no longer in the lobby I
asked one of the employees who he was, his response - "The owner

That is louis rose on the right,
the ugliest man on park avenue

Hi all! (My FH and I plan to talk with his priest more about this, but I wanted to hear others' experiences for reference. Thanks!)

My FH and I are planning to get married Summer 2021, but are working out details regarding the ceremony. He is Catholic, and I am a non-denominational (baptized) Christian.

We both come from strong faith backgrounds, and both of our families have opinions on where the ceremony should be held. I understand the significance and implications of (and of not) getting married in the Catholic church, yet I also want my faith beliefs to be represented in the ceremony. Thus, we are planning to request a dispensation from Canonical form so that the marriage is valid and sacramental, but so the ceremony can be held in my home church while meeting the requirements set forth in the Catholic faith (pre-cana, etc).

Some questions I had:

1) Have you or did someone you know request and receive a dispensation? What did that look like as far as timing? (I know people recommend reserving venues a year out, but my understanding was that a dispensation was submitted 6 months before the wedding. Makes scheduling and logistics tricky!)

2) Have you or did someone you know request a dispensation, for it to be denied? What was the basis of that decision?

3) Any misc advice / experiences?

Thanks so much!

My friend lives in NYC but is getting married in Poughkeepsie. Should we expect him to set up a shuttle to/from Manhattan? Most of us don’t have cars. He also has guests from out of town flying into JFK and then will need to figure out how to get to Poughkeepsie. Not sure what the etiquette is.

Hello, I'm looking for a non-religious officiant for a quick, outdoor, February 2019, less than 10 guests ceremony that doesn't cost $400. Does this exist or am I delusional? lol

Why does it cost so much for a few minutes??? I can take care of the permit, license and photographer myself.

Hi,

I've searched high and low for a venue (preferably Manhattan/Brooklyn/Queens as this is easiest for most of my guests to travel to) that will accommodate less than 100 guests without charging an extra high rate per person (I'm ideally looking for $150pp max after tax and fees for dinner only), or being relegated to the wine cellar, or being too rustic or hipster in aesthetic. These are places I love going to for brunch with the girls, but not what I had in mind for a reception. So far I've only been able to come up with NoMo Soho but would really like more options just in case.

Thanks!

Hi all - I am looking for a wedding venue in NYC (any of the boroughs) for about 250 people, both ceremony and reception at the same venue. For a group this large, it seems I'm stuck with ballroom-type places, but I'm wondering if anyone has a great venue recommendation for a wedding of this size that is NOT a typical "wedding factory" type place or hotel ballroom. Thanks in advance!!

Hi all! I'm getting legally married tomorrow, with our ceremony to follow in September. I'd like to get the name change process moving, but am not totally sure about the best order.

I'm in process of transfering an out of state license, so will need to go back for a name change after the wedding. However, I've heard mixed advice on whether or not I need to change my name with the Social Security Administration first. I spoke to the DMV, and they just said that I don't need the SS card.

Tricky part is, my temporary license has the wrong birthday, so I need to change that too! I'd rather get my license all set first to be sure that's taken care of (especially because my honeymoon flights are under my married name), but don't want to show up and get turned away because the SS hasn't been updated.

Any advice??

Hello All,

My fiancé and I are in the search for a wedding venue within
the CT/NY/NJ area. All towns and cities throughout are open for consideration. We
are looking for a May 2019 timeframe with about 175 guests. I welcome all
options. It would be great if you could drop a note on venues you have been to
or even thought about. We have looked at the Aria Facility (Prospect, CT), Glen
Island Harbour Club (New Rochelle, NY) and The Surf Club on the Sound (New
Rochelle, NY). Any comments on those are welcome as well.

Thanks in advance.

My fiance and I are getting married in Brooklyn in the Fall. We are not religious, but our families are. Friends of ours, in the same situation last year, found an officiant who was extremely flexible -- married them out of doors, let them use environmental themed readings and vows, etc. Unfortunately, that officiant is not available the date of our wedding. Does anyone know of any officiants who can represent (formally or informally) the Catholic church, but who are flexible in terms us our preference for a positive, environmental themed ceremony? Very much appreciated.
