I need a stage built at my reception for all my guests to sit and dance. I got a quote from one place but it was completely out of budget. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm in love with my reception venue but it's mostly used for smaller wedding parties because it is on a hill. So, the stage needs to be built on the hill. I know it sounds completely crazy but I'm not the first to do it.

-Thanks

Congrats on taking over as mod!

I sent one email to Knot Annie about your interest being mod months & months ago, & I'd like to apologize with not following up on that for so long.

Long story short: There have been some major changes in my life. In the long run, they're all for the better, but I ended up getting disconnected from much of my "online life" to address issues in my day-to-day life (deaths of family members, moving, work, etc.).

This board is priceless and deserves an active member to moderate it. I have no doubt you'll find it as rewarding as I did. I've been on TheKnot since 2005 (before there were even non-paid mods), & know the value of this site to new brides-to-be. After the wedding, I stayed on as mod because I felt a need to "pay it forward" as a thank you to all the friends I made & all the honest & helpful advice I found here. I know you'll keep paying it forward for as long as you can too :) Though I still love all the wedding talk, I've been blessed with other things & people in my life that take priority now. Ten months or ten years from now, you'll be there too.

But until then, here's my advice from one mod to another: keep doing the awesome job you're already doing. Be tolerant of the trolls (as long as they abide by the T&C). I know that sounds strange, but every family has a black sheep or two. You may not always agree with them, but sometimes they're the voice (albeit, harsh voice) of reality, & they help show the solidarity of this fantastic little group when the girls ban together in support against whatever controversy du jour happens to be. Oh, & show no mercy to the vendor scum!

Hi everyone...this is my first post here. I'm not engaged yet but will be in the next couple of weeks (waiting on my boyfriend to get up the nerve to talk to my dad). I'm already getting stressed thinking about doing a wedding. We want to get married in late August ideally. All of our friends, family (except for my parents and sister) live in Massachusetts so I'm trying to make sure my younger cousins wouldn't have to miss school. I definitely want to have the ceremony and reception at the same place and want to keep it cheap-ish, since I won't be paying for it. If I had it my way, we would just go to town hall. A wedding doesn't seem that important to me, but I guess it's for my family. I'm having a hard time finding somewhere to have both and have it be as stress-free as possible, as well as affordable for my parents. My front runners right now are Cafe Luna and Barrington House, but I'm pretty clueless with all this stuff. None of my friends are engaged/married so I've never been through this before. Any words of wisdom, help, or suggestions are greatly welcomed! I'm getting a headache over this already :(

Hello! My fiancee and I are getting married on June 4, 2011, and we would like it to be in Winston-Salem, NC since that is where he is from. We were originally hoping for the ceremony to take place at St. Leo's Catholic Church, unfortunately, you have to be a member, and we actually live 2 hours away. Can anyone suggest any other site? We would like an older church with vault ceilings and stained glass windows. TIA!

Hey ladies!

So the florist that I really wanted is already booked, so let me hear your suggestions! We're getting married in Downtown Raleigh, but I wouldn't be opposed to having someone outside of Raleigh (my mom lives in the Greensboro/High Point area), but I want to stick with the Triangle or Triad regions.

Thanks!

My fiance and I are getting married on Kure Beach, and are right in the middle of trying to find our officiant. We have been in contact with several people, and are finding that their fees are somewhere between $200-250 for the rehearsal and ceremony together. We're just wondering if this is a fair price. We are on a limited budget and don't want to overpay, but at the same time we don't want a "you get what you pay for" situation either. If there's any brides from this area that can weigh in on who you are using, what you are paying, etc., it would greatly help! Thanks in advance!

Hello! Its been forever since I have been on here! I have been so busy lately and just have had no time. I do however need to get rid of some wedding things that are just too good to let go to waste in the back of the closet. I finally have all my things at our new house and I am now thinking we should have gotten a bigger house haha. Well, my colors were pink and green & I have been trying to put together a FS bio and am still working on that. Just thought I give some of you ladies a heads up on what I have and if it will fit any of your weddings:-I have pink and green chair sashes satin material which I used as table runners-pink, green and white paper lanterns-organza chair sashes used to decorate the church pews, they are a deeper green than the ones i used at our receptionI will try and get my FS bio up and running, googlepages is not wanting to cooperate with me. Is there another good page creator as simple as googlepages that might be faster at uploading? TY! & happy wedding planning!! =)
