Since there really aren't any parking places at the venue location, I'm considering letting guests park at a nearby church and have my own wedding transportation bring the guests to the venue which is down the road. Does anyone know of any possible people who would consider renting a tractor or truck pulling a hay ride wagon? We'd cover the hay in pretty silk cloth of course and it could just bring the guests to the venue. Is it possible to just ask someone who does hayrides and see if they'd be willing to let us use it for the wedding? Preferably in the piedmont triad area.

Me and My fiancé are planning our wedding for May 2014 and I am in brain lock for reception entertainment ideas. Neither of us drink. My family is very conservative Baptist and dislike dancing (I personally like to dance) so dj and dance may be a no go. Anyone out there been to a wedding where they had entertainment such as croquet, magician, alternate forms of entertainment? I am at a loss for ideas and it is kind of ruining my planning experience lol.
The venue I REALLY want only has one day available, and that is October 26 of 2013. It would be an outdoor ceremony with the reception in a tent (with heaters provided by the venue). What do you guys think? Do you think October 26 is too cold for an outdoor wedding near Charlotte NC? I think it should be fine, but weather here can be so unpredictable. We would have it at around 3/4 PM, so it would be at the warmest time of day, plus the foilage will be beautiful, but what do you guys think? Too cold? I'm stressing, but it's the only date available!

Just wondering if anyone has heard anything about them. She says they bake up to 7 days in advance and then freeze. To me this seems like it would dry out the cupcakes and they wouldn't be very good. But for an October wedding I am sure they will be very busy and almost anywhere will freeze the cupcakes. Thoughts?

This is the most frustrating thing I've ever done and I give wedding planners a ton of credit! I am looking in the areas between Emerald Isle and the Outer Banks. My family is know for drinking so the place would have to be alcohol friendly. Thanks for any and all help!

Hi ladies....
So, I could definitely use your opinions, if you please...I live in Tampa Bay Area of Florida...getting married on 12/28/13... In Asheville, as we got engaged on the grounds of the Biltmore estate. However, thinking of having our ceremony and reception at EITHER The Grand Bohemian Hotel OR Ruth's Chris Steak House...it is an intimate size wedding...less than 30 guests...no videographer or photographer...just simple elegant...second time around.
Has anyone ever attended a wedding at Grand Bohemian? stayed as a guest? Ate dinner there? I know about the food at Ruth's Chris (as that is our favorite restaurant)...but I am also in AWE of the beauty and elegance the Bohemian offers....

Any thoughts ladies? I think we are coming up there next month to check out both sites to get a visual of the layout and dinner packages....

Thank you!

We recently(3/30/13) had our wedding on the beach in Kitty Hawk, at the Hilton Garden Inn Kitty Hawk Pier House. We are from the Philadelphia area and this place was absolutely PERFECT!!! The pier house is so beautiful, it didn't matter if it was good weather and we got married on the beach, or bad weather and we had to get married inside the pier house. The views were breath taking. We wanted to be sure that regardless of the weather (which happened to be absolutely perfect!), our guests knew that they were attending a beach wedding. It's large enough to accomodate 150, and was even more perfect to host our 85 guests that traveled to North Carolina to celebrate with us. I also can't speak highly enough of the staff. We visited the hotel several times and every time- they were so welcoming and friendly. Melinda was an absolute rock star! They know what they're doing with weddings, so trust them! All of our guests had the best time and loved the food as well as the atmosphere. They made planning an OBX destination a total breeze- or as close to easy and relaxing you can get for planning a wedding.
We must also give a shout out to DJ Bruce- Dorothy, at Bells and Whistles, and Melinda at Just Desserts. Everything was perfect:-)

I will keep this post short and sweet. I am trying to find a venue in New Bern (or the surrounding areas) for a small wedding (30-40 people). I'm not fond of the idea of getting married outdoors and a church wedding isn't "us". I've scoured the Internet and looked into all of the places I've been able to find. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas I may be overlooking. We won't be having a traditional reception, so vendor allowance doesn't matter. I'm trying to keep the venue under $2000. Any thoughts?

Thanks!
