Ok, I have an appointment with La-Tea-Da next Tuesday. Anybody heard anything about them (good or bad) and for all of you who have already meet with a caterer, any suggestions on what I should ask and/or what I should look for?

I am a big foodie, so the catering is very important to me. I am very nervous that I'm going to over pay and/or get yucky food! Any help would be appreciated.

I definitely bought both my wedding shoes and a vintage hair comb (to go with my birdcage veil) today! My credit card is sore. :)

My only concern is that I got my shoes through the JCrew sale... and if they don't work with the dress I can't return them. I am not a risk-taker so this is big for me.

I have been working with Sam Hill Entertainment to find a reception band. At the top of our list right now is Heartbeat of Soul out of Greensboro, NC. I was wondering if anyone had ever heard the band live, heard comments about this band, etc. I'd love to hear fellow-bride feedback!

Also, if you know of an awesome reception band in the Triangle area that you wouldn't mind sharing, I'd love to hear about them too!

Good Morning everyone!

Up and moving pretty early this morning for a weekend day! Had a rough day yesterday...a best friend of FI's family is losing his battle with cancer and he was only expected a few more days so we made an emergency trip yesterday to Burlington. I've never been in a situation where you are truly saying "goodbye" for the last time. It was so tough and FI has been really bummy so I'm trying to keep him occupied.

Heading to the Melting Pot tonight...can't wait to try some of the suggestions yall gave me! I'm sure its going to be delicious!

I've decided that I am going to finally get my rear in gear with losing a couple of pounds...even though I only have about 36 days I'm hoping to at least tone up a little bit. I've got some group fitness classes to start taking and will do my best to get up in the morning and hop on our treadmill for a couple of miles. I don't do mornings....that very well may be close to impossible!

My dress AND my bridesmaid dresses will be here by the end of this upcoming week. I can't believe it!!

Now...off to the treadmill to finish watching Bad Boys 2 on DVD that I started yesterday while walking =) Have a great weekend!

Well I think I may have narrowed down my location to have our ceremony/reception. We are looking seriously at Carolina Beach/Kure, Wrightsville Beach and Topsail. II know doesn't seem like we've narrowed it down, but trust me it is!! lol Does anyone have any input on any of these pros or cons? I'm looking for anything We live in Wisconsin and my FI is from NC. We vacationed in Carolina Beach last year and loved it.

I'm off to San Diego tomorrow (at 5:30 am, yikes!) for my grand parent's memorial service. I get to see some family that couldn't make it to the wedding, so that will be nice.

Thought this might be a cool way for everyone to get to know each other a little better. I posted this on the September board and it was a hit. I'll go first:

I met my fiance(Brandon) at the library in college my sophomore year. It might have been the first time I stepped into the library on campus..lol. I thought he was so intelligent and he had so many goals that I was so impressed. Im a total dork apparently because I love a man with a plan and he had one and I fell for it.

Today's groupon is $75 worth skincare for $25 at Dermatech at Fearrington Plastic Surgery. I thought some of you ladies might be interested. This is where I went to get waxed before my wedding. I got my legs, bikini & eyebrows waxed with Tracy & I was very happy with the results. She was really conservative so I didn't feel uncomfortable at all. If you have any questions about my experience I would be happy to help. They also do facials, spray tans, chemical peels, etc.

I was going to get a chemical peel before the wedding but I went the Thursday before and Tracy recommended that I wait because there was a small chance I would still have some redness on Saturday. I don't have a ton of jewelry, what I do have is mostly pearls or gemstones (not usually precious ones, I wear a lot of topaz and similar). I saw these on ruelala today and I'm thinking they may be good wedding earrings. They're blue quartz about 1.5inch drop, so they could be my "something blue" as well.

What do you think? Are these weird for wedding jewelry? (dress pics are in bio if you need something to reference)

Im a horrible cook..no literally. I set my kitchen on fire once boiling water!!! I have the PICKIEST fiance in the entire world..not exaggerating. My fiance does NOT like pasta(hates), meat other than burgers from McDonalds, vegetables, anything that tastes good he hates. I love pasta..we can't go to an italian restaurant because he hates pasta and anything with sauce and pizza. He hates steak..well lets just say he hates food period! I try cooking but I don't have anything to make because he won't eat it. Im a terrible cook and im trying to learn but he won't even try anything I make because he says that nobody eats that stuff( who doesn't eat spaghetti?) So I told him he either eats what I make or he's on his own..lol. His mom, my mom, my grandmother make him special meals for the holidays or when he's at their house because he won't eat the regular meal (he's so spoiled it makes me sick) Does anyone have any good recipes to try? I would like to cook more but I don't know what to make. If he doesn't eat it..he'll go hungry but I won't..lol.

So DH got a movie through Netflix which I had never heard of. It popped on the "recommended list" when he was picking out a few movies to add to our queue so he decided to add it.

It's called " Away We Go " . . it's kind of quirky, but its sooooo damn cute and the guy (Jim off of the Office. . .I can't remember his real name lol) in this movie reminds me soo much of DH

Just wanted to throw it out there since it's not a well known movie :o)

Also. . .I have a bag of those preztel M&Ms . . .they're WAYYY too addictive!!

Our budget for the whole wedding is looking to be around 15k. Just trying to get some creative ideas I haven't thought of. (My fiance has vetoed any hotels and anywhere downtown no matter how nifty). Ideas?

I'm getting my bike today, and also hope to have all of my stuff out of my apartment and into FI's place too... it seems like that's never going to happen! There's literally no room and he is really attached to every speck of dust in his house and does not want to get rid of anything...

We're having a short engagement and I thought that I was on point for the most part, not thinking I would need a Day of Coordinator and now I'm plotting out details and I'm worried I'm leaving out something important or that my idea of how the day will go is completely ridiculous. This is my draft...please tell me if it makes sense or too little time is dedicated. I tried to maybe "overbudget" for time such as photography. This shouldn't take this long but getting people in and settled may take a few minutes to get started, move locations, etc.

Background info: Wedding is at a resort...everything is within a 5 minute drive. Reception is at the Terrace where below is the ceremony site at the gazebo on the lake. Ceremony: 5:30, Pre-Reception: 6, Reception: 6:30

11-2 : Bridesmaids Hair + Mine
We're somewhat casual,we will just be having hair styled...no up-dos, 6 ladies plus myself, I just have a headband...I like it simple!
12:00 : Feed the ladies (guys will be doing their own thing)
12 : We can start tying chair sashes and placing centerpieces for 120 chairs and 13 tables, other linen placement will be done by venue 5.5 hours to complete this task, My mom and two sisters are doing this
1:30 : Flowers will be delivered and someone will be available to take these to the guys and girls
2:00-3:30 - Makeup appointment for Maid of Honor and Me, We are the only ones getting makeup done, the resort said it would be around an hour for mine, half for MOH
3:00 - Cake delivery! They will be setting this up for us
3:00-4:00 : Guys Pictures We have two photographers, most pictures will take place around the gazebo area, guys will do the golf course after finishing at gazebo
3:30-4:30 Ladies pictures Once the guys finish up at the gazebo area, ladies will go for pictures
4:30 - Quick freshen up for ladies
4:45 - Guys head down to gazebo area to prepare to escort guests, honorary bridesmaids head to table to pass out programs and have guests sign guest book
5:00 - Ladies head to terrace to wait for ceremony start
5:15 - FI and Pastor head to gazebo
5:20 - Dad and I arrive (or once coast is clear)
5:30 - Rock and Roll! DJ is doing music for ceremony, has done the venue several times so knows the time frame necessary for music timing, Pastor has the ceremony order under control...Begin!
5:50 - Ceremony complete, pictures (quickly!)
6:30ish - Head up to terrace for WP intro, 1st dance, eat, drink and be merry

Advice? I nearly had my first real dysfunctional stress out moment thinking that I may have forgotten something important! Eeek!

Good morning ladies.

I finally moved on to Level 2 of the 30 day shred today (I've been doing it every othe rmorning, walking dog on off days). It kicked my butt. I felt like puking the entire way through. Also, I can't do any of the plank stuff and there is a lot of it (I have elbow problems and can't put that much weight on it) so I have to make up other stuff to do whenever she does plank position stuff.

Everyone played nice and the driving wasn't too terrible minus going through a wicked storm in VA on the way home.

About 2 weeks before the wedding I thought I was going to have to buy a new camera. I did a little bit of research and took lots of notes...then I found my camera and threw my notes away because we didn't plan to buy another camera for about 2 years. Well, we lost the camera in Raleigh when we went down to visit and we're going to have to get another one :-/ Hopefully we'll get it in the next month or so.

Do you have a camera you love/hate? Let me know about it. I'm basically going to start over with my search. TIA!

Engagement Party Protacal

Hey everyone! I really don't get here as much as I would like due to work and school, but we are starting to plan! I am so excited :-)

Anyways, my mother is throwing us an engagement party in October. Most of the time when my mother "plans" something, she pays for it and I do the work becasue she is always very very busy at work. I am thinking about the RSVP for the engagement party and wanted to know if it would be appropriate to put my email as the RSVP or just have hers and ask me to foward it so I can keep track. I guess it is not that big of a deal, but I have read some where that you are not really supposed to throw your own engagement party.

I may just be worring about nothing...

Candy Buffet Questions

I am planning a candy buffet for approx. 150 guests, and thought I'd get some input from you ladies who have either already had a candy buffet, or who are planning one and are ahead of me in planning!

(1) How much candy did you have per guest? Was it enough?

(2) Where did you get your candy?

(3) What type of bags or boxes did you use (for the guests to take the candy) and where did you get them?

I had 3 phone interviews over the past week...all went really well!! I have in-person interviews in the morning. I'm sooo excited! I think I have a great shot at getting the position. The pay is great, not to mention healthcare and other benefits that I don't have as a photographer. :) If you have any interview tips, please share! Otherwise, wish me luck!
