How were the acoustics? If you have a link to photographers blog that has shot there, that would be helpful too. Our wedding is July 6 , 2013 and it's a 10am wedding. Oh yeah, if they're on the west side that is definitely a bonus as well! : thank you!!

Hey girls, so I have soooo many vases for sale. I have clear square vases in small, medium, and large-- probably about 20 of each. I also have cylindrical vases that are about 28" or so in height. I also have a smaller version that is probably about 16" or so. Also, small vases that are probably about 8" in height. Finally, I have about 20 green bud vases. I'd rather not deal with shipping them, so I figured I'd post on here. I do have tons of other stuff for sale I.e. black pin tuck napkins, silver chargers, silver satin tablecloths, black satin tablecloths, cathedral veil, honeymoon novelties (flip flops, passport/Id mr. Mrs. Holders, etc.) flatware, crystal table scatter, garter, pillow, flower girl basket, votive holders, etc. the list goes on and on. If there is anything you are interested in, just let me know, and I'll send pictures or answer any questions. I did post an oneonta video a month or so ago that shows a lot of the stuff. Thanks girls, and best of luck planning!!

Hi! I rarely post, but have consistently read the boards for advice and reviews. I thought posting my own experiences could potentially help another bride out there. So, here are my vendor reviews from my wedding held on 9/6/13. It's pretty detailed.

We held both our ceremony (The Loft) and reception (Galleria
Ballroom) at The Madison Event Center (both located in their South building).
The Madison turns out tons of weddings every weekend so they know what they’re
doing. We held ours on a Friday to receive a 25% discount. The nice thing is
that their packages are all-inclusive and they handle getting in touch with
your other vendors week-off to coordinate drop off and setting up. We also used
a lot of their preferred vendors, which saved us money on music, flowers, etc.

Lisa handled our ceremony day-off and Gina was the event captain
for the reception. They were both amazing! They made sure everything ran
smoothly and were so helpful with everything from playing our iPod for the
ceremony to packing up the gifts at the end of the evening.

The one negative I have to say is in regards to the “promotions”
they run. We booked nearly two years in advance. At the time we were looking at
venues, they were running a “1 hour free for reception or ½ price open bar.” By
the time we signed the contract, the promotion had ended about a week before. I
took a chance and asked if we could still get it since it had just ended. I was
told no, but there would be other promotions in the future that we could take
advantage of. Ok, that worked. However, in the next 2 years not 1 single
promotion came up that I was allowed to take advantage of. Every time I asked,
I was told the promotions were for new bookings only. I wondered why I was told I could take
advantage of promotions if I was never eligible for any that came up in nearly
2 years. I kept getting annoyed receiving mailers from the Madison in my
mailbox that I couldn’t take advantage of. So make sure to sign while they are
running a promotion or you’ll never receive any other deal.

The food is good enough – pretty typical for the wedding
banquet hall type. I do recommend going to their monthly tastings a couple times
– those events are worth your time. Overall, I do recommend The Madison,
especially if you want a venue that will take care of the details for you. You
really just have to show up, which I wanted.

Maize Music – A

Maize Music is a preferred vendor for The Madison. Simple
and easy to deal with. Met with Nemar once and booked him. You plan everything via
online planning tools, which I liked. The
dance floor was rocking all night and Nemar did a great job of MCing too.
Played a great range of music and everyone had a blast. He also went above the
call of duty with some transportation issues at the end of the night, which
really speaks to his character. Definitely recommend, especially if you want a
party/fun atmosphere!

Barrie’s Florist – A-

We met with Barrie during a snowstorm initially and the
meeting went well. We got her recommendation through The Madison as well. Very
easy to deal with. Apparently something didn’t work when they were setting up
our centerpieces. I was emailed the very next day with an explanation of how
they had to change things around. Frankly, I didn’t even notice they were
different than what was originally planned. But it was nice that they followed
up with me about it.

I’m just upset with myself because when we were talking with
her, we all concluded that the tables fit 8 and we’d have about 19. However,
the tables fit 10 in our room and when our numbers came in we only needed 14
centerpieces so we overpaid by 5 centerpieces. You have to pay in full 5 weeks
ahead, before the final head count is in so my only recommendation is to be
really sure how many tables you think you’ll need so you don’t overpay. However,
she did use the extra flowers for our cake table and spread them around. So it
wasn’t a waste and the cake table looked beautiful. But if you’re on a strict
flower budget, make sure you have the right table amount.

Marxey Makeup – A

Michelle is really fun to work with. She came to my
apartment and did my hair and makeup, as well as the wedding party. I know I’ve
seen some mixed reviews with getting ahold of her and planning your trial. She always got back to me promptly. We did
have to rearrange my trial a couple times, but it ended up working out the day
of my bachelorette party so I looked amazing for my night out on the town. She
played music the whole time while we got ready and didn’t seem to mind our
craziness! Her work is good too and held up the whole night. Definitely
recommend.

Hatfield Productions – A+

We used Hatfield productions for our videographer and photo
booth. The Hatfield team had a long day – started with us at 10 AM and were
shutting down and taking the photo booth apart at 11:30 PM. They went everywhere with us: my apartment,
the boys’ hotel room, Devou Park, The Madison. And then our highlights video
was turned around by Monday morning. And it’s AMAZING. I can’t wait to see the
whole thing and all the photo booth pics. HIGHLY recommend. They definitely go
above the call of duty and are just awesome to work with. Two thumbs up!

Tres Bell Cakes – A

We were the last appointment at Tracy’s house in Norwood.
Right after we booked her, she moved into a storefront in Reading. I can see
why she needed a storefront. It’s just so good. She has great prices and a wide
arrange of flavors. We had three different flavors and every one of them was
amazing. My personal trainer, who is a health nut, had 3 pieces that night. Plus her other baked cooked goods are
excellent too. If we’re ever near Reading, we stop in the store and grab a
cookie or cupcake or croissant. Plus she has a great personality.

Courtyard Marriott Covington – B+

There were some online booking issues here and there and
people getting credited to our block. A couple people had to switch rooms
during their stay because of the hotel being booked up and that was kind of
annoying. However, our coordinator (who was in Chicago) was helpful and willing
to work with us the best she could. I heard no complaints about the hotel
itself. We got upgraded to a King Suite and it was HUGE. We actually hosted our
friends there late-night after the wedding and it was a blast/plenty of room.
We got a free shuttle to The Madison because we booked 15 rooms through our
block. So that made it easy and convenient for our guests. Overall, no real
issues and would stay there again.

Pastor Brian Eastman, Officiant – A

We found Pastor Eastman through marriagechaplain.com. Very
kind and easy to work with. He definitely knows how to play to his audience and
everyone loved his ceremony. He got people to laugh and interact. He knows what
he is doing! If you don’t have a regular pastor or priest, I would recommend
him to perform your ceremony.

Photography/attire – My cousin gifted our photography and we
obtained our attire in a different area. So we didn’t have any local vendors to
review for that.

Overall, the day went smoothly and everyone had a terrific
time. We’re married and that’s the important part.

Reception Venue- Voice of America Ronald Reagan Lodge: B-

First of this is a very beautiful venue! We did our pictures here as well and the lake view with the park is fantastic! You can rent the whole patio and gazebo outside as well as the lodge inside for a pretty reasonable price. We even got to have a second bar out on the patio! This venue does allow you to bring in your own vendors (they have a
preferred caterer list). You have to use their bar package because they
are a park.

The downside to this venue is that the staff seemed unorganized throughout the entire process. They were making changes to their staff during our planning, which caused a few issues. I hope they get their new staff all sorted out because it is such a beautiful venue. Also, I would reccomend having someone there to organize things instead of trusting VOA to do that. We had a family friend there to help greet venders, make sure the room was arranged properly (there was some issues with this), and set up little things for us like place cards. After running into a little problem with the room arrangement I was so glad she was there to fix any issues.

I can't stress enough how beautiful the venue was! It's a real gem that not a lot of people seemed to know about.

Catering- Jeanette's Delicacies- A+
Jeanette was great! All of the food was fantastic! She has recently moved to Beckett Ridge as the new caterer for them so you can tell she is doing well. I think her prices are about average. She was organized throughout our planning and made everything easy. As a bonus she can also include chair sashes so that was one less vendor we had to worry about.

Flowers- 2 Little Buds- A+
We love 2 Little Buds! I had already used them before for buying flowers and they are just great! I went in with no idea what I wanted and they made great suggestions. All of my flowers turned out beautiful and lasted the whole day! They did my centerpieces too, which cut lemons in a vase with blue hydrangeas. They looked great! I loved how much they seemed to care.

Ice Cream- Aroma's Gelato- A+
We decided not to have a cake and did a gelato bar instead. This was my favorite part of my reception! Everyone loved it and it was great for a summer wedding! You get 6 flavors for 2 hours unlimited for I think $3 a person plus a $150 service fee (it could have been a little more if I am forgetting something, but it was reasonable!). After doing our tasting it was so hard to narrow it down to our 6 favorites because they were all delicious. Also, it is in a very nice case with 2 people Aroma's has doing the scooping. It was awesome!

Makeup- BrideFace- A+
They did great! They are a little pricey but you get what you pay for with makeup. Our makeup lasted the whole day with no problems. We had Danielle who was super nice and open to what each of my bridesmaids wanted done. The whole process with them was organized with no issues.

Photography and Photo Booth- Cindy Dover Photography- A+
Cindy did my sisters wedding last year and we had to use her again for mine! She is so nice and creative! She only takes on so many weddings a year so she can really concentrate on the ones she does. She had all my photos edited and complete within a week and a half of our wedding (!!!). You can tell how much time she puts into editing each photo though, they are all beautiful. I didn't have anything special in mind for photos and she had a great ideas for us! She will also accommodate to whatever special ideas you are wanting. She also makes you a really nice guestbook and wedding album included in the package we got. She is about average for price, but I was glad to spend the money on a good photographer.

She also just got a photobooth this year and it was awesome! She gives you a good price on it if you book her for photography too. You can fit many people in the photobooth. She has great props and we even added our own cutouts of ourselves that we took beforehand which were a huge hit! Each time you go to the photobooth you get 2 prints, one to keep and one to put into a scrapbook for us to keep! It was so fun looking at everyone's pictures and comments the next day. She also had them all on Facebook the next day so everyone could have them digitally. It's a really great photobooth!

Limo- Jimmy's Limo- A
Jimmy's Limo was great! We actually got upgraded the week of our wedding to their highest limo because ours was in the shop. If you have the money, go for the party bus! We had a lot of fun and it was very spacious.

DJ- Johnny B- A+
Johnny is great! He again did my sisters wedding last year and did a great job at both. He's been doing this for a long time and knows how to be a fun DJ. Can't say enough good things about him!

Dress- Fabulous Bridal- A+
I really liked them! I didn't try anywhere else because I found my dress the first day I looked! It was an in-house design and I was the first one to buy it, so it was nice to know 100s of other brides around the nation weren't wearing the same dress as me. They gave my bridesmaids a discount (20% I think) on their dresses so we of course got them there too. We did a Maid's party with champagne and cheese/crackers. Their staff is very accommodating and organized. I loved my dress!

Alterations- Cynthia's Sewing- A+
Cindy was great! She is located in West Chester. She did my dress, one of my bridesmaids, and my moms for a very reasonable price!

Honeymoon- A+
We went to Couples Barbados and it was so amazing! They just re-branded themselves in June to Couples, so the price was a great deal for Barbados! It's couples only and an all-inclusive right on the beach. We loved it there.

We really enjoyed our vendors! Hope this helps!

Hey there! We're getting married at an outdoor venue (old farmhouse) in May of next year. We really just want our guests to enjoy themselves, and one of the things I was wanting was to set out games for our guests to use. I was thinking like corn hole, ladder golf, and maybe something unusual like giant jenga, just so even those who don't dance will be able to have fun. However, I'm having a hard time finding anyone who rents those things out!

I'm trying to see if friends from the area will let us borrow theirs, but honestly I'd rather rent them (I can just see someone saying we could use their corn hole and discovering day-of that they can't find the bean bags or whatever.)

Anyone know of places in the area that have these things? (Already checked with our site vendor, they only have corn hole and volleyball.)
