Want to have a barn wedding in Ohio

Hi guys! My fiance and I live in central Ohio along with most of our family and friends. I would really love to have our wedding somewhere nearby so that no one has to travel too far, and definitley somewhere within Ohio. I absolutely love the idea of getting married in one of those big, old, wooden barns. We are both sort of country people and they are just so darn pretty lol. My fiances mom said she has always wanted one of those barns and was thinking of having one relocated to there house, which would be perfect for our wedding! However I don't really think that will end up happening. Does anyone know of any great barn venues in Ohio or central Ohio? We also thought about just finding one we really like and asking the owner if they would let us have our wedding there, but that would probably be a last resort.

Wedding Day of Coordinator Recommendations?

We are getting married in September. Throughout the planning process I’ve never considered getting a wedding planner as I thought I could do everything myself. Practically the entire wedding is planned; we’re just down to the smaller details and trying to organize everything.

But after some thought I may have overlooked thinking about the day of the wedding. Since I’ve been doing everything myself I’m not sure how or who I am going to turn it all over to the day of the wedding to direct vendors where to go, light the candles before people enter the reception, and just little stuff to keep me from going Bridezilla if I have to do it all myself.

Does anyone have any tried and true recommendations for just a "day of coordinator"? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am planning my wedding August 31st at Coney Island and their venue is completely outside. I am super nervous about the weather mostly the heat, being very humid. Can anyone tell me about their wedding during that time and how the weather was? It is going to be an evening wedding so starting at6 and ending at 12. Thanks for any advice/help!!!

Hotel Blocks

How exactlly do you request a hotel block without knowing how many rooms you will need? Do you tell them more or less then you think it will take? Plus I want to split it up a little because I know not everyone can afford a $120+ a night hotel. We have a guest list of over 200 people. I added it up tonight and if everyone comes, we will have 142 guests needing rooms... But I know some of those people will not be attending since most of them live in MI where my family is from which is another issue... I don't know how many of them will come down on Friday and how many will come down on Saturday. I asked my MOH who got married this past spring how she did it, but she said her wedding cordinator did it for her (I don't have one). Our wedding is in six months, I need to get this off my list of to-do's!!

Netherland Plaza Continental Room?

Has anyone used this for their ceremony & reception? How many people did you have and was it comfortable? The Hilton website says the Continental room holds 200 guests (seated at 10-person rounds) but the woman who gave us our tour said it's actually 160.

Our invite list is at 235, so we'd have to cut all "plus ones" and a few others to even have a chance of getting under that 160. I don't love that idea, but with our wedding colors the room would be stunning. (We're considering Hall of Mirrors, but would have to move our date potentially into the winter- blah...)

It's also a Jewish wedding, so dance floor size is a consideration when you have 100 people trying to do the hora! Advice???

I have 12 vase/votive centerpieces and 12 sets of 3 cylinder vases of differing heights. I also have clear glass rocks that I had in the bottom of the vases.

I also have a multi-tiered cupcake tree. It is sturdy plastic and you can assemble it with as many of the tiers as you want up to 6.

I am trying to find a rehearsal venue that will let you use your own caterer and bring in alcohol. My fiancé and I have fallen in love with our caterer who did our engagement party and would really like to use him. While bringing in our own alcohol would be a huge positive to save money it is not a must. We have about 65 people and it will be held in November. Also if you know the price range of these venues that would be very helpful. I am looking in the downtown Cincinnati/Newport/Covington area or even Hyde Park/O'bryonville area as our rehearsal is being held at Saint Francis de Sales and our guests are staying in the downtown area. Any help would be much appreciated because I feel like I have searched almost everything, thank you

Rectangle Table Linens

Hi everyone! I'm getting married on 10/4/14 at the Walhill Farm in Batesville Indiana. Unfortunately they do not provide table linens. I heard the best thing to do is to buy them online from cheap websites or from another bride/groom. I would really like to buy them from a bride/groom or maybe even buy them online and someone else go in half with me-to make it even more cheaper and less of a hassel. So if anyone that is getting married at Walhill Farm, or anyone that needs to buy rectangle linens that would like to go in halfsies or selling your linens, please let me know!

I purchased my wedding gown back in August from Belle Bridal Boutique in Bellevue, KY and follow their Facebook page. There was a status that reads:

"Do you know a Beautiful Bride to Be on a Budget? Belle is having a sample sale with designer gowns up to 75% off of their retail price."

Just wanted to share with any other Cincinnati area brides that are also plus size and looking for a gorgeous gown. The owner Stacey is wonderful and made my experience like something out Say Yes To The Dress. They have samples to fit any size so there is no trying on a dress only to have to imagine what it would look like in your own size. I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone!! I can't wait to wear my Allure dress for my September wedding.

Rehearsal Venue for 100???

I am at a loss for a venue for our rehearsal dinner. My mother, to my dismay, is set on inviting all of our out of town guests to the dinner, which is pretty much the entire guest list to the wedding.... So I need a venue big enough for about 100 people, and I'm not trying to spend 5k on it either. I would love to keep it downtown- I REALLY wanted to do it at the Boathouse or Morelein Lager house- both are booked. Oh yeah- to make it even more complicated: the rehearsal dinner will be July 5th. I really like the idea of a hole-in-the-wall but classy bar/restaraunt. No pizza. And neither of us have family with a big house in the area.

We are considering using the BB Riverboats -has anyone used them? I'm scared that there are a lot of hidden fees with them.

The chairs are super expensive so wer were wondering if maybe other people had done this and used different chairs due to the fact that we've seen other chairs there. Just an FYI for everyone- I recently picked up Real Simple Weddings at the grocery & quickly realized it's more of a planning book than a bridal mag- there's lots of advice, but if you want to look at pictures of this season's dresses or the hottest new beauty products, this isn't what you want.

HOWEVER, after I got home, I did notice a sticker on my magazine that said that you get a free 1-year subscription to the regular Real Simple magazine with your purchase of the Weddings issue! I haven't sent my card in yet, and I didn't keep my receipt, so I hope I can still redeem (it says nothing on the card about needing to show proof of purchase, but what stops people from just pulling out the cards in the store without buying?)

Anyway, I love that magazine, so I thought I'd share :)

I have been looking for a good service for my wedding on May4th 2013. I have contacted about 5 companies now and received some quotes. I have realized that is a busy day for transportation companies and hotels. I was on your website and like the feature to chat with a representative. I started a chat session with one of your employees and I did not have a good experience. First off his wording and spelling need a lot of help. He is not a good representative of your company, but that is just my opinion. I asked him about that day and he informed me you are 75% sold out and really dint seem too interested in selling out the other 25%. I told him that a couple of companies offered a car to come back at the end of the reception and get the groom and myself and take us to a hotel. He said we do that but not for someone booking the minimum # of hours. Really? That was awful rude to say to someone. That make me feel like my business isnt as good as everyone else. That was just rude! He then said we can do it but it would change the quote by 200.00. My friend was at Bridal and Formal getting her wedding dress as she is getting married in July. She stopped by your office last week and there were 2 guys making mixed drinks while the office was open. I dont know if you were one of those guys but I think drinking while open is a big turn off to customers expecially when you are in the transportation business. I just thought as a business owner myself that you would like to know what is going on with your company. I guess I will just go to one of the other companies that quoted me and wanted my business. Hi girls!

I'm getting married in Cincinnati in October and am looking for a rehearsal dinner location. I want a restaurant, not a location that we have to have catered. Our hotel block is in Covington and the wedding in the Oakley Cincinnati area so I was hoping for a place that's not too inconvenient to both locations.

I had heard Pompilio's in KY was good but they dont take large parties on Friday nights. I was also considering Hofbrauhaus?
